I just noticed when I went to log in to the Apple Support Forum to post for the first time that the login page does not display the lock for it's security credentials in the upper right corner of Safari. Is this potentially an issue given that it asks for your AppleID that is used for iTunes? The webpage url starts with "https://" but it does not display the lock.

I'm new to Mac's and was going to fill out a form on a bank site. The site wouldn't let me because my browser wasn't secure enough. Are they planning on updating the browser to support this kind of encryption? What do you guys do when you run into this? Install Microsoft Internet Explorer for Mac's?

This is full encryption, requiring a username and password before it can even begin to boot into Windows. It is a 3rd party product. My question is, is there anyway to run a bootcamp partition to support this kind of business encryption? How about OS X? What about inside of a VM?

Is there some security phenomenon that will not allow me to copy and paste my PW into the slot/space for Password, when I try and signin to Apple forums. The allocated space where I would normally paste my PW does not show anything being pasted,, and I have also used Paste in the menu area , and even tried dragging my PW into this area, to no avail. Of course, I can type it in manually,, however, my PW is strong,, and generated, and find it very arduous to type in.Perhaps a 10.7 feature?

In advance, a disclaimer: Please don't lecture me about how we shouldn't be using WEP...I'm fully aware of just how bad WEP sucks from a network security standpoint. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to change it at the moment. Now that that's over with...why is it that NONE of the Apple devices I've used have ever worked correctly on the WEP network here? Where I work, we've got all Cisco equipment, but unfortunately, we're still on WEP. We've got hundreds of Windows devices that operate just fine with it. On the other hand, on every Mac portable device I've had since I started working here 7 years ago, it's been an issue. I enter all the information correctly when I try to add the network as an Airport profile, and one of two things happens: It prompts me for the password over and over. It takes the information like everything is ok, but then it doesn't connect (no "bars") Every once in a while I will get a device to connect and work, but it's usually only temporary...it'll just stop working all of a sudden. It doesn't have to do with proximity to the access points; believe me, I checked. I'm positive I'm entering everything correctly, as I actually work for the IT Department here. I've had numerous portables through the years including various MacBook/PowerBook Pros, iMacs, and now an iPad which also doesn't want to work on our WEP network. We have four buildings here, which are technically four separate networks, all configured with the same type of access points, and Apple devices don't connect properly in any of them. Being that we have plenty of Windows-based devices, as well as Android portable devices that work on our WEP network, it would appear that the problem is isolated to Apple.
Is anyone else here still stuck using WEP (perhaps at your workplace), and has anyone else had similar problems to what I'm having here? What did you do to resolve them? I'm dying to get my iPad on the wireless here, but it just won't cooperate.
I am doing some research for FileVault 2 on Mac and noted that there are full disk encryption function.

Why cant I resume the encryption. I connect the power and nothing happens. I retart with power added and I get a "Calculating time remaining" then right back to the title message. I just bought this Macbook Air and already this issue has happened and its drawing quite a bit of battery power. Is there any application to read a forum in the desktop? I mean, outside a browser.
I think that a desktop app could offer some advantages that online read doesn't offer.
For example, you could skip ads or you could save useful threads regarding the forum type.

I searched but couldn't find any topics on this, but I can't for the life of me get safari to properly open forum topics from real gm. It will work 1 out of 7 times perfectly, the others not until I refresh and refresh (and even still it doesn't load all the page).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI cannot log in to my iphone, ipad or Apple mail with my google credentials. I made sure everything was being typed in correctly. The weird thing is, I am able to log in using [URL]website.
I don't know why I am not able to check my email unless I use the website. I tried clearing the captcha and even changing my password in gmail.
Can anyone tell me why this would come out of nowhere? I have not changed any settings on any of my devices or even though gmail. What's going on?

I was trying to add a Glims custom search engine for MacRumors forums. However, the search URL doesn't actually have the search terms in it, it comes up as [URL:...] with a string of numbers at the end. As a result, the standard Glims method of making new engines doesn't work. Does anyone know of a way to make this work?

Imagine if I had caught a local official doing something in public that was extremely bad, and I wanted to release the pictures anonymously to our local paper and did not want the police to seize my computer and prove it was me. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using the encrypted image making for sensitive files, but I am looking for something as separate iOs (yes I know it's not the right subforum but since the mods in their infinite wisdom have split the software subforums...) or OS X software that will also allow for an autodestruct feature to be feasible after a set number of failed password attempts, because there is no use really of an encrypted image if one can run brute force ad infinitum. Sure non lexicografical passwords will fair better but how well it's anyone's guess.

Obviously my wife isn't going to be looking on my phone (she let me take the pictures with the phone in the first place)...my concern is if the phone is ever lost or stolen...I want those pictures totally unreachable if my phone ever winds up in the wrong hands.

These software show up on my Revo Uninstaller Pro. When I try to uninstall (e.g. Bonjour) a Windows Installer box appears which reads: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" with two buttons 'OK' and 'Cancel' after this line. Below this, another paragraph says: "Click 'OK' to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Bonjour.msi' in the box below". Below, is a box titled "Use source:" In front of it is a button 'Browse'.
I have a unibody macbook connect to Apple LED cinema display, and using VIsta to play Blu-Ray disc using FastMac external Slim drive and PowerDVD, but cannot play content due to HDCP non-compliant display. I have heard so many people said LED can support HDCP through DisplayPort, but appear to be not the case. Using AnyDVD HD can by-pass this, but that is really not the ideal solution for me. Anyone can get Blu-ray to play on Vista on a LED display?
