I'm currently using the 30-day trial of Aperture 2 trying to decide between it and Lightroom. In Aperture, the little red/yellow/green circles in the top-left of the program are all gray - even when the program is in focus. Is this simply because the software is a trial?

Why I would I use one over the other, the Red X to close a window or the Yellow - to minimize a window? With both functions the program is still running the background, so I don't get the differences other than with using the Red X the application won't be on the dock. Why is one used more over the other, when they basically do the same thing?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have my powerbook g4 charging all the time and the one time I unplug it to use somewhere else the battery loses its charge and shuts off the screen til i plug it in again...also the light around the plug that goes into the battery port on the laptop is flashing between green/yellow and orange.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was using my MacBook pro felt it charging and asleep for 4 hours. I came back and it won't turn on. When the battery is plugged in it flickers between yellow and green.

Pulled my coveted 12" 1.5 ghz powerbook out of its bag and it's has an annoying little opaque stripe about 3/4" along the right side of the display. It changes color from yellow to green. When I pinch the lower side of my display together, it goes back to the blue background color, but still has a distortion to it.

If I visit the same page in a new window then they appear! The same for Youtube in the edit subscription section. I've reinstalled flash but no luck.

So what happens when I buy Aperture 3? Does it recognize that I have Aperture 2 installed, and upgrade it, or will it install Aperture 3 alongside Aperture 2?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAlu 24" 2.4ghz when they first came out with aluminum, got it at the store. since august 07 My imac had a small yellow tint, i noticed, when i got it and it was not worth anyhting screaming about, i also noticed it had bleeding issues ath the bottom and sides. I wanted to return it or trade but i was convinced out of it.
Now i noticed that from left to right their is a prominent yellow tint streaking it's way across and fading around the half way point.It is irritating and sad to see this display on this mac was ok, at first but it is geting slightly worse.I have apple care, can i trade this/replace it at an applestore, or would they need to fix it?
i was watching a video in full screen and as it was over nothing happened - usualy it would end full screen and return to my apps, but I just got the spinning beach ball. After a minute of beach ball I got worried, so I tried cmd + tab to switch to another app, but nothing happend. I left it alone for 5 minutes or so, but still just black screen and beach ball...
So I held down the power button and waited for the laptop to power off, waited a short while and hit the power button; got the chime, got the apple, got the loading spinning circle, ..., ..., ..., ..., black screen and then the chime again and now this black rectangle telling me I needed to power off the computer and start it again. So I did - chime, black box of text; and so on 3 times.
What does they mean. How could I get rid of a window?

I mostly use iTunes, firefox, iphoto, vlc, mail, tweetie, transmission, air video and iteleport, istats all the time. Sometimes use pages and iMovie. I mainly watch tv on it. On iPad I use mail n safari as well as air video or vlc. Thinking of getting rid of the above for MBA 11 base with 4Gb ram plus AEBS attached to my 1.5TB for photos, movies, iTunes. Can transfer latest stuff temp for planes etc like I do on my 16gb iPad.

Running Firefox for OS X version 3.6.3. After about 20 minutes of use, the yellow minimize window button turns grey, and is not available. When I quit the browser and relaunch it, the yellow middle button is back.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded the trials of Aperture and Lightroom and have them both installed. I'm playing around with them trying to figure out which one will be best for me. I'm not a pro photographer or anything, but I don't like iPhoto because of the way it deals with events. I like to have hierarchies for my picture folders but apparently iPhoto will only allow you to have one level of events.
So, I understand that Aperture has you choose between the masters being managed in the Aperture library file or have them be referenced on disk. My main concern is that I want to be able to pull all of my master files out of Aperture and preserve my old folder hierarchy structure. Every time I try to export files (even from multiple folders), Aperture exports them all into one huge folder rather than preserving the folder structure. Is there any way to do this?
The whole library update for Aperture 3 keeps hanging for me and I have done it two times.
So I was wondering if I could just drag the single projects from my Aperture 2 library into a new Aperture 3 library.
Would this do all of the same upgrades necessary as the normal update?
I have Aperture 2.1.x also installed. COuld that be the problem?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just purchased my first DSLR camera, a Canon 550D with a 18-55 IS and a 70-200 F4 IS USM. I bought Aperture to manage those pictures, and was wondering what to do with iPhoto.
Currently, I use iPhoto for all my photos, and have a sync with my iPhone.
I would like to know how you use Aperture and iPhoto on the same computer.
- should I put everything on Aperture, what would I lose if I do that ?
- should I keep iPhoto for my casual pictures (taken with my Panasonic FX-55), and Aperture for the photos taken with my DSLR camera ?
- if I import the iPhoto pics into Aperture, what should I copy them all on Aperture, should I just use the iPhoto database, or should I delete the iPhoto database after I import everything on Aperture ?
I am by no means a professional photographer, but I do love to take photos. I have about 9,000+ photos in iPhoto now, but Im looking for something a little more advanced. I will retouch my photos from time to time, but more so, I want to organize my photos better. View 8 Replies View RelatedI tried to install Aperture, after I have done a complete uninstall, but the install process does not go any further than hitting the ok button after entering Name/Company/Serial. The rainbow colored circle remains on forever, so I have to force quit every time.
I wonder, if I deleted any important install files form OSX accidently?
What I did was uninstalling Aperture: I searched for 'Aperture' in the Finder window, and deleted all files which showed up!
I recently installed Aperture 2.1 and love it until....
A large collection of pictures (jpgs) was imported and after 2 days a lot of thumbnails are missing in the library. The images are still there, I can click on the gray spot the image supposed to be and view the preview and master.
It very annoying! I am planning to import about 10.000 images soon and this problem must be solved before.
