i tried downloading music from my computer to my iphone and none of the new music would transfer. It wouldn't play on my phone or my computer after I tried to transfer the music. It looks like this on my screen
View 1 Replies...now I don't have the same functionality with iTunes. Basically, I can't use iTunes at all anymore as the interface for my music and videos. Once the external drive is mounted, I can navigate through it and play individual songs, but I can't use iTunes to do that. All my previous Playlists show up down the left side of iTunes, but there isn't any music in them.
I downloaded 2 songs yesterday, made a Playlist out of them, and because the path in the Advanced tab of the iTunes Preferences is correct, it automatically added the songs to the external hard drive. I synced my iPod and it was completely erased except for the 2 new songs. Is there a way to use iTunes to navigate my music like I used to when I stored the information on the internal hard drive but keep the information on the external drive? I have a Mac running Snow Leopard and the latest version of iTunes.
How do you make the exclude file option on zip, or unzip, work for dotted files? For example, Â
zip -r foo ~/foo/ -x *.txtÂ
will zip all files in ~/foo/ that do not have the extension txt. But this doesn't work for "hidden" files, those that start with ".", like ".txt". So,Â
zip -r foo ~/foo/ -x /.txtÂ
still gets all the .txt files in foo zipped up, not excluded.Â
unzip foo -x /.txtÂ
has the same problem: it happily includes any .txt files in foo.zip in the unzipping

how to make a vertical dotted line in Pages, I've been to Inspector and went to the T, then to Borders and Shading. It does let me make a dotted line but not vertically. Is there any other way to flip the line vertically or another way to make a line so it is vertical?

Why I would I use one over the other, the Red X to close a window or the Yellow - to minimize a window? With both functions the program is still running the background, so I don't get the differences other than with using the Red X the application won't be on the dock. Why is one used more over the other, when they basically do the same thing?

After a minute of beach ball I got worried, so I tried cmd + tab to switch to another app, but nothing happend. I left it alone for 5 minutes or so, but still just black screen and beach ball...
So I held down the power button and waited for the laptop to power off, waited a short while and hit the power button; got the chime, got the apple, got the loading spinning circle, ..., ..., ..., ..., black screen and then the chime again and now this black rectangle telling me I needed to power off the computer and start it again. So I did - chime, black box of text; and so on 3 times.
What does they mean. How could I get rid of a window?

I mostly use iTunes, firefox, iphoto, vlc, mail, tweetie, transmission, air video and iteleport, istats all the time. Sometimes use pages and iMovie. I mainly watch tv on it. On iPad I use mail n safari as well as air video or vlc. Thinking of getting rid of the above for MBA 11 base with 4Gb ram plus AEBS attached to my 1.5TB for photos, movies, iTunes. Can transfer latest stuff temp for planes etc like I do on my 16gb iPad.

I'm currently using the 30-day trial of Aperture 2 trying to decide between it and Lightroom. In Aperture, the little red/yellow/green circles in the top-left of the program are all gray - even when the program is in focus. Is this simply because the software is a trial?

I have transferred my itunes music on to my external HD. The music is there and that is fine. I then deleted the old itunes folder from my actual HD. I have now wanted to access the music on the external HD, and have attempted to select the new music file location on the external HD via the itunes/preferences/advanced window,selected the new file path and it will just not show in itunes!

I'm new here and about to dip my toe into the Apple pond for the first time. Just placed an order for an i Phone and am preparing my music collection to move at least some of it over to i Tunes for use with the new phone. I currently have it on an external HD in one main folder (CD Collection) and have been using WMP up to now. Stored under that main folder are sub-folders with album titles containing the individual song files in .wav format. I tried to import the files into the i Tunes library by going to FILE and clicking on ADD FOLDER TO LIBRARY. I then selected all the album folders and hit enter. It imported them all into one folder. I have around 450 albums. This is not what I had in mind. I had hoped the folder and file organization would have been maintained. Instead I have thousands of music files in one "album."

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been doing some reorganizing lately, including updating my file structure from My Music to My Media, with Music, Books etc within it. I did this using the built-in iTunes option (File->Library->Organize Library->Reorganize files in the folder "iTunes Media"). I have both "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" and "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" switched on.Â
When I performed this reorganization I noticed that the media folder was still called "My Music", not "My Media", though the directories within for Music, Books etc were all there and organized correctly. So I renamed the folder to "My Media" and updated this name in the Advanced Preferences by changing "iTunes Media folder location."Â
When I now add new items to the library I find they are being added to the directory My Media, and not to the media-specific subdirectory (Music or Books or whatever) even though the entries within iTunes itself appear in the appropriate media subsection.Â

So I was in my room in the dark for like two seconds, and i tried to switch the sound on the computer, but I couldn't really see anything.Then I decided to stop listening to music and just closed my computer. Next morning, no sound comes out of itunes. Even with earphones
(and I know it was a bad idea) but at full volume. Did I press a bad combo of keys that would mute itunes? (Youtube works) I can buy songs at the itunes store, and they'll look like they're playing, but no sound comes out.
