Software :: MS Word And Excel Not Launching

Yesterday morning I was using MS Word and Excel and they were fine but then I closed my computer and opened it 15 minutes later and they wouldn't launch. I made additional space available on my drive (90GB now) and ran Disk Warrior to fix permissions and check the hard drive. Today I am still having hte problem. I was able to get Word to open up a blank document but then it immediately crashed. I am trying to figure out if I can solve this without having to reinstall as my installation disks are several years old and I don't have them with me. I am running OS X version 10.5.8 on a MacBook Pro 5,1 My error message for excel is the following:

All of a sudden Word and Excel won't open any more. I just get a message that says "Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Does anyone else have problems copying figures (charts) made in Excel into Word? When I copy the figures into Word, they appear ok on a MAC, but when viewed on a PC, the y-axis disappears. I am using Office 2004

I am contemplating upgrading my MacBook Pro (2011 model) from Snow Leopard to Lion. I am concerned about the level of strong criticism about Lion, especially the comments that MS Word and Excel (and Powerpoint?) cannot run in Lion. What is the full story? Can I run MS Office products by reloading them into Lion environment?

I just migrated from Lion on an old MacBook series 2007 to a MacBook Air. Yesterday, I opened up a grading file in Excel 2011, entered grades, saved the file (NOT Save As - just Save) handed back the assignments to my students - and then went to reopen the file later, and all of my changes were gone. I made more changes, Saved, just opened the file again, and they aren't there. To experiment, I opened the file just now, wrote in a silly comment on the top line, saved, reopened without quitting excel - and the changes aren't there.
A temporary work-around is that I can do a Save As every time I make changes, but that's ridiculous - I'm often updating a file and need the changes to be there. I just tried this with Word as well and I'm having the same problem - some Saved changes are there, some are not.

I am running a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.7.3 and the latest version of Office 2011 with all the updates installed. Both run very slow and now I noticed that when I click on either icon in the dock it says "Application Not Responding" even though the applications are responding, just very slowly. If I close either application and then reopen it, the message is gone until I open a new document.

I have loaded windows 7 and parallels. I want to load MS office so I can send properly formatted excel and doc files to my client. They say the numbers conversion does not translate well to Excel and pages to word. Do I load MS Office in the windows OS? How can i access the numbers file in the Mac OS to use in the Windows OS on Excel? Is this a better option than loading Office for Mac? I need the formatting that I put into the excel file lto hold.

This didnt use to happen but now when I open Word or Excel it seems to want to open all the recent Docs that I have worked on as well?Â

I want to upgrade to Mavericks from MAC 10.6 but I am getting a warning that if I do Microsoft Word and Excel will not work because they are PowerPC based applications. Is there any way to get them to work OK if I complete the upgrade?

Is there a way for me to configure Word and Excel to autosave the current file to both the internal HD and external HD simultaneously? I want to do this for two reasons. One, I just recently had an issue where Excel just crashed, and I ended up losing the file I was working on (I could still see the file under recent documents but it would not open). Secondly, when typing papers "Word" tries to autosave and tells me "HD full try to free up some space on disk". I really need to be able to have the peace of mind that the file is being autosaved to simultaneously to both my internal and external hard drives. I don't want to get screwed over again in the future.

My Office 2008 apps (Word / Excel) take forever to quit. When I quit the app, the documents are closed quickly, but then the app stays around for a minute or so, unresponsive, enough to cancel a logout. If I quit the app and wait long enough, it finally quits.

After upgrading to Lion, I can no longer see the text in my word documents or excel worksheets. I know the text is there because it appears in the formula bar - it just isn't visible in the cells. I can also see the text if I quickview the excel files. In the word documents, all I can see are the pictures/images...no text. Weird. I have the latest version of Office 2008 and Lion OS.Â
