Applications :: Aperture Import Failure - Not Seeing All Photos On Memory Card

Apr 5, 2010

Recently Aperture has a problem reading all the photos on my 4GB Sandisk memory cards (2 cards, same problem).

When importing pictures from Aperture (RAW) - it only reads about 10 pictures, displays the thumbnail and then stops reading from the card (when there is still hundreds more pictures to be imported).

What I have to do is import with iPhoto and then drag them into Aperture. This is a pain though. I happens on both my memory cards and is a recent thing. It used to work.

iPhoto reads the memory cards in the camera very quickly, but Aperture consistently fails on more than one memory card which leads me to exclude the cards as the point of failure.

My 6 months old macbook pro 13 hard drive was damaged. Hardware :: Memory Stick Damaged - Not Readable?

Dec 7, 2008

I am literally less then a week into being a mac user, so forgive me if I come across as a little ignorant. I'm using Leopard and a 500gb Imac [I don't know if this makes much of a difference? I was using a 4gb Kingston usb stick to move files from my old pc to the new Imac and made the mistake of not ejecting properly since then every time I insert I get "the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer". I've googled and googled trying to find some way to fix it and so far nothing.

It does appear in disk utilities as "generic flash 2.0 media" and i have tried to reformat it, I erased as MS - DOS and then even tried to partition I've tried Master boot record & guid partition table both under MS -DOS [I really need to be able to use on windows as well as mac] underneath it continually says Unformatted beside partition map scheme. I've also tried to reformat using windows in the hope it might bring it back to life, again nothing - so I'm beginning to wonder have I just got a dud memory stick? I have a Kingston 1gb stick and when its inserted it appears as "Kingston" under disk utilities.

Intel Mac :: (Mid 2010) Memory Bank Was Already Damaged Before Bought It?

Jun 9, 2012

I use my Mid 2010 iMac for virtualizing routers. I noticed that with the 4gb of RAM that was already installed in the iMac was not enough. So, I did some research and found out that, my iMac can hold up to 16gb of RAM. I did some more research and found out how to replace the memory in my iMac. Then, I went to Micro Center and bought 16gb of RAM and brought it back to my apartment. Now, I powered off my iMac and unplugged the power cord, flipped the iMac upside down and unscrewed the three screws that were holding the memory cover on.  After removing the memory cover, and pulling back the memory tabs/flaps, I shined a light down in the memory slots and found one memory slot that looked damaged. I was not completely sure, so I went ahead and removed the old memory by pulling hard on the memory tabs/flaps, and the memory was unseated.

I remove the memory and replace it with four, 4gb sticks of memory. Once I powered on the iMac, a memory beep sounded off. So, I unplugged the power cord from the iMac and removed two of the four memory sticks out of the iMac. The two sticks of memory I removed was out of BANK 0/DIMM0 and BANK 1/DIMM0. BANK 0/DIMM0, is the one that is damaged and my hardware warranty has expired. I bought this iMac damage, and now it won’t support 16gb of memory. What should I do? By the way, the other 8gb of memory in the other two BANKs are working.

Info:
iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Memory BANK 0/DIMM0 is bac

OS X :: Any Way To Mount Damaged SD Card?

May 16, 2010

I have an A-Data brand 16 gig SDHC card which became corrupted/damaged in my Canon S90 (it looks like a lot of people are having problems with this card). When I put the card into the card reader attached to my Mac Pro, the volume does not show up on the desktop, or appear at all under Disk Utility. No error message of any kind pops up. If I look in Console, I see the following messages:

Code:
USBF:28693.905AppleUSBUHCI[0x11f5b000]::Found a transaction which hasn't moved in 5 seconds on bus 0x1d, timing out! (Addr: 0, EP: 0)

USBF:28725.906AppleUSBEHCI[0x1208e800]::Found a transaction which hasn't moved in 5 seconds on bus 0xfd, timing out! (Addr: 5, EP: 0)
The last two continue to repeat.

I have tried a variety of card recovery programs on my Mac, and on the Windows side booted under VMWare. But since the card is not mounting at all, none of these programs can see the card to try to recover anything. I really would like to recover these photos.

Which certificates, keys etc. Do I need and where can I get it? (I have a second Mac activated for the Mac App Store but no backup for this Mac.)

OS X :: Can I Back Up And Recover Photos?

Jul 1, 2009

First off let me confess I am pretty useless with this stuff compared to the people here. I have searched the forums and while there seem to be a lot of people with similar problems, I haven't really seen a solution that I fully understand or that would help me with my specific problem.

The Problem:

I'm using a 3 month old 13.3" Macbook with bootcamp installed. Recently I turned it on and OSX wouldn't load. I had not changed anything on the laptop at all. When it tried to load just got the grey/ blue screen and spinning gear thing. I turned it off and booted into windows no problem. Later I did it again but left it running and eventually OSX did load but the problem recurred when I shut down and now the OSX partition doesn't even show up when I start the computer. Nothing happens for a while and then windows starts. No OSX.

What I've tried:

After looking through the forums here I have tried booting into safe mode and single userness, whatever that is, and it's the same- nothing happens and then windows starts.

I've tried booting from the install disk and running disk utility on the mac partition (it shows up in disk utility) but I get the "invalid node structure" error and it says the disk can't be repaired. When I try to verify I get an error saying the disk "could not be unmounted" (I assume that is a euphemism).

Windows works just fine.

What I really want to know is whether I need to reinstall OSX and, if so, whether I can recover some data first. I just got back from a family wedding and have a number of photos that I hadn't backed up (duh) and I really want to try and get them off the disk.

I understand Diskwarrior might work, but I don't mind reinstalling OSX as long as I can back up the drive first. I have an external USB drive, but absolutely no idea what I would have to do to use it as a backup, or how to recover the photos from it if I do. There is mention on these forums of an "archive/install" option which sounds promising...

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to be specific.

Software :: Unable To Recover Deleted Photos

Jul 11, 2009

Last night I was in the process of backing up my files because my Mac has so much on it, I was transferring older stuff to my external hard drive to open up some space. In the process my computer started acting slow. So I thought I deleted the photos I had already transferred over, instead I deleted all Of my photos from 08-09. They aren't in the the trash can because I emptied it right there...trying to get more space.
Please, is there any way I can recover those files?
I downloaded a program last night, and thought it was free, but once it was done finding all my pictures, it asked for a registration code in order to actually save the photos. I don't have the money to spend a hundred dollars on a program.

MacBook :: How To Recover Deleted Videos From SD Card

Jun 25, 2014

So I was importing all of my videos onto final cut from my sd card when my friend asked if he could have the sd card. i started to safely eject the sd card but it was still loading.(it was still importing the rest of the videos into final cut). He then took the sd card out without all the videos importing over and deleted them off the camera. What do i do!!!! Some of the videos did transfer across but some didn't, the rest just say missing camera.

Note: I have already tried to use a sd card recovery application, they recover all the photos fine but all the videos come down with a black screen when played and scarcely audio.

MacBook Pro :: Cannot Mount USB / Memory Card

Feb 12, 2010

This morning, I had to print off some pictures from my digital camera for my art class, so I stuck my memory card (1 GB) into the slot, and it worked just fine. The other day, I plugged my LG Lotus into my MBP via USB and it also worked normally. Tonight, I tried to connect my phone once again, and it didn't mount. So, I tried the memory card in an adapter and it didn't mount either! My MBP isn't old at all (got it at the end of November '09)!
