May 9, 2012I just updated now to MAC OX X Lion to 10.7.4 on my 2011 MB AIR. I noticed upon restart or shutdown, it takes around 15 seconds now. Before the update, it just takes less than 2 seconds to restart/shutdown.

IMac :: Internet Connection Slow - Taking Long To Take Pages
Sep 16, 2010I recently bought a 27'' iMac (3.2 GHz Intel Core i3, OSX10.6.4) and all was fine and dandy until yesterday when my internet connection suddenly got very slow. It takes forever to load pages, if they load at all. The rest of the iMac is fine as before, which leads me to conclude this is an internet issue. I cleared the cache and browsing history in Google Chrome and no improvement. I tried using Safari and Firefox and they were slow too.
I also have a MacBookPro (2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, OSX10.6.4), so I checked the internet speed on that and it was normal. Both MBP and iMac are connected via an Airport Express. I searched various forums and threads for a solution, but I know very little when it come to these things so I quickly got stuck in technical jargon. I've tried to change the DNS server settings (first to 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2, then to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220) but this has not helped.
OS X :: Slow Internet Browsing / Safari Or Firefox Taking Long Time
Mar 4, 2009I've had my MBP for about a year and recently I noticed that when I open Safari or Firefox it takes FOREVER to load a page.Even a small page like Google! I tried a reset for both browsers but that didn't help.I did some maintenance but no help there either.
This is my first Mac so I wanted to ask if I'm missing something.. should I be doing something maintenance-like that I'm not?

For some reason when I try and boot down my mac it is taking an unusually long time considering I'm running my OS on an SSD. Feb 24, 2008I have a 2.2Ghz Macbook with 2Gb ram and its running 10.5.2 (update went fine) and for some time now the start up of my mac has been very long. It sometimes take in excess of 30 minutes to turn on. It waits on the grey apple screen with the apple logo and the spinning loading sign near the bottom. Is there anything i could try without doing any major resets or reinstalls?

Jul 8, 2009I just noticed that my umbp is kind of slow. For example, safari used to load up less than a second. Now it takes about two to four bounces. Then, it will take 1 second to start up. On Firefox, it usually takes 5 to 6 bounces to start up as well. Could there be a lot going on through my activity monitor?

Feb 2, 2010I'm at a university and I've had a MacBook Pro for about a year now. The OS is Mac OS X 10.5.8. The processor is 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. The Memory is 4 GB DDR2. When I'm at the University we use a secure wireless network. When I option click on the AirPort icon, I get the following readings:

Because it's a university-wide system, I have no idea what the router information is. When I asked our IT staff about it - a group of part-time college students - they just shrug and tell me everything is working. I can download movie files in an instant. Zip files, even the most basic ones, take about half an hour. This is true even when the movie and the zip file is on the same website. A movie file, six or eight times the size of the zip, downloads much faster. I've read through this forum and others. I followed this suggestion: I deleted my AirPort setting and reinstalled it under "wireless". This did not seem to change anything.

Jul 23, 2009currently using a mid 09 13" Macbook Pro with 4gb of ram. Currently i have a Western Digital 1TB My Book External Hard Drive connected to the usb port. But everytime i try to access the ext hdd, there will be the dreaded beach ball ands takes around 3-5mins before the files can be displayed on finder. I never had this problem when it is plugged into my windows PC. My ext hard disk is currently formated in NTFS, im accessing the files through my mac using NTFS-3G. Could this be a reason?

MacBook :: Taking Too Long To Download YouTube Videos
Apr 8, 2012I have noticed that it is taking too long to download YouTube videos. I have tried a few things: emptied cache, reset Safari, downloaded OnyX and cleaned everything up I could. I also reset my wireless router, but those have not worked. I have also updated Adobe FlashPlayer, Flip4Mac, and checked for new updates from Apple. With all of that, nothing has seemed to work. Not sure what to do next.

Apr 14, 2012My daughter purchased a MacBook Air 13" last 1.7 GH Intel Core i5, 4GB Memory. A couple of weeks ago, my daughter noticed that her computer was taking a long time to boot up. Apparently the bootup time has progressively lengthened to 3 - 5 minutes to get to her desktop. What happens is the boot-up process seems to stall on a grey screen and beach-balls until the desktop eventually appears.

MacBook :: Time Machine Taking Weird Long Backups
May 15, 2009I had not downloaded anything or even had anything that was new to be 6 gigabyte, but I had deleted alot of useless programs from my computer which I saved about 4 gigabyte, but why would time machine backup a random 6gigs...then the backup for some reason didn't really finish and the last backup it stated was may 3rd which is wrong. Then a few minutes ago again I wanted to backup but then it took a whopping 9 gigs of whatever crap! OMG! That makes like 15-16gigs in total which is like 1/4 of my entire 'used' portion of the harddrive.
It seems that everytime I delete a program it just backs up white bytes or something and it even made my 420 gigs of free space all the way down to like 402 gigs. Sorry about the crappy grammar etc etc, but this is freaky and is pissing me off and stupid time machine won't even let us see what it is god dam backing up....and why on earth did apple make restoring from a backup ONLY from your disk? My leopard disk is broken (the one that came with my computer) and my restore discs are tiger, because apple decided to make them seperate....is there a program to merge all my time machine backups and see what time machine backed up new and also restore from a time machine backup? Or am I asking for too much, might as well email apple.

Sep 17, 2010I was a Windows user up until a few months ago so this isn't that big a deal, but lately, my MBP takes longer than usual to shut down. Usually, it's no more than 2-3 seconds. Now, most of the time it's normal, but sometimes it takes like 20-30 seconds and there is a spiraling icon (hard to describe, think of something refreshing or loading) on the blue screen. I know it's not a big deal, but I'd like some kind of explanation as to why my MBP is doing this and if it's a sign of worse things to come.

Apr 1, 2010I am having issues with the shutdown time of my MBP. Namely, until couple of days ago, everything was fine and the shutdown process lasted for about 5 seconds tops. The other day, when I was about to go to bed and shut it down, the shutdown took unusually long time to execute. From that day on, every shutdown is the same. It lasts for about 40 seconds. This is kinda not that funny, because from time to time, like every couple of months the shutdown would be long like this, but the next shutdown would be very short. I consider this to be normal, as far as I read the various forum posts. What bothers me is that since couple of days ago, every shutdown lasts for about 45 seconds and it is not a problem, since the computer works fine, but is kinda irritating. I also have to mention that no major changes (installation or removal of programs) have been performed prior to this issue, and that my login items list is empty.
I have tried the following:
* Zapping the PRAM
* Executing various Onyx scripts, and used Onyx it to clean various caches.
* Reading, verifying and repairing permission using Disk Utility.
None worked for me.
I am pretty sure there are numerous threads about this or similar subject, but I have not found the one that describes this issue that I have.
MacBook :: System Taking Long To Load User Profile Login
Mar 28, 2010My Macbook has been running pretty slowly recently but only at log in. Its been taking ages to load my name at the top of if you try anything before is loaded my user profile I guess it just crashed. Also every now and again the wallpaper doesnt load up. Anyway to fix this is booted into safe-mode, verified the disk and repaired the permission. My work insists I use McAfee enterprise edition for Mac if connecting their servers so I am also protected from viruses and mal-ware. Its just got worse. And stranger still Safari still loads but thats all. Any other program will bounce a few times and then do nothing. Even mail, pages, dreamweaver, terminal, settings - everything. Safari is the only working program I have found that actually still loads. The internet connection works find and everything else. McAfee is sitting in my status bar so I am guessing that has also loaded properly.

OS X :: Emptying Trash Taking Too Long?
Sep 12, 2010I have about 22GB or about 23,500 items to be emptied from the trash. Most of items are just jpg images. I just started to commence emptying and it is taking approximate 1sec to delete one item. So by calculation, it will take 6.5 hrs. !
At same time, I'm just doing my normal spread sheet work.
Is there anything wrong?

Feb 17, 2009Something happened to trash! It used to just say "empty" as the empty button. It now reads "empty securly" and takes way too long to empty plus it slows my laptop down. Im using a 17' macbook pro.

1) I erase and install leopard on the 500gb, result slow read on folders content, around 9 seconds to read content of folders.
2) I eject of macpro the 1tb, and erase and install leopard again 500gb, when done... oh now great folders content load well! so I insert the 2nd hd 1tb... everything well for 1 day... now I feel again a delay on load folders! But this time is not 9 seconds! is around 2 or 3!
My question, what happened, is normal, that when insert a 2nd or 3 or 4 HDs load folders is a little more slow? I create a screenshot video attachment.
