OS X :: Taking Long To Burn DVD - Video Quality Not Good
Feb 23, 2010I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like this, but whenever I try to make a DVD from a pre-recorded movie (either something from my HD camera or downloaded off the net), it literally takes 3 hours or more per DVD for it to finish burning. Jun 2, 2008On my iMovie, i can't get asf, avi, or mov video files to work. It would only show up as a white screen and take 15 minutes to load to imovie. But when i convert my asf to mov with a converteri downloaded, it took like 1 hour for a 30 second video, it worked and only took like 1 minute to load on imovie??? Is there any video codec for my imovie or a really good video converter?

Sep 12, 2010I have about 22GB or about 23,500 items to be emptied from the trash. Most of items are just jpg images. I just started to commence emptying and it is taking approximate 1sec to delete one item. So by calculation, it will take 6.5 hrs. !
At same time, I'm just doing my normal spread sheet work.
Is there anything wrong?

Feb 17, 2009Something happened to trash! It used to just say "empty" as the empty button. It now reads "empty securly" and takes way too long to empty plus it slows my laptop down. Im using a 17' macbook pro.

Apr 17, 2012I'm currently running my mac with an SSD in place of my original HDD and my HDD in place of my optical drive. For some reason when I try and boot down my mac it is taking an unusually long time considering I'm running my OS on an SSD. It sometimes take in excess of 30 minutes to turn on. It waits on the grey apple screen with the apple logo and the spinning loading sign near the bottom. Apr 29, 2009I have a macpro 08, with a 500gb hd. Now I buy a WD "black" HD (WDGWD1001FALS) 1tb!
1) I erase and install leopard on the 500gb, result slow read on folders content, around 9 seconds to read content of folders.
2) I eject of macpro the 1tb, and erase and install leopard again 500gb, when done... oh now great folders content load well! so I insert the 2nd hd 1tb... everything well for 1 day... now I feel again a delay on load folders! But this time is not 9 seconds! is around 2 or 3!
My question, what happened, is normal, that when insert a 2nd or 3 or 4 HDs load folders is a little more slow? I create a screenshot video attachment.

Jul 2, 2009I tried running a chkdsk /f /r on my late 2008 MBP yesterday. Started around 18:30, it was still running this morning and had only got to stage 4 of 5 and was on 18%, that's over 12 hours! I'm running Windows 7 64bit RC, and the partition size is 84 GB. My desktop computer on the same o/s and a 150 GB partition, took about 45-50 mins to complete this on the weekend, and I was wondering if any other MBP users had run a full checkdisk and how long it takes on their machines?

Nov 9, 2009why but lately all the .wmv videos I have watched have taken an extremely long time to fully load. Before the whole file would load and I would be able to seek throughout the video to any part which I liked. Now however, the video instantaneously pops up but I have to wait for it to load before I am able to seek but I can basically watch the whole video before it fully loads (as if it was streaming).

OS X :: Zip Files Taking Long To Download On MacBook Pro
Feb 2, 2010I'm at a university and I've had a MacBook Pro for about a year now. The OS is Mac OS X 10.5.8. The processor is 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. The Memory is 4 GB DDR2. When I'm at the University we use a secure wireless network. When I option click on the AirPort icon, I get the following readings:

Transmit Rate: 130
Because it's a university-wide system, I have no idea what the router information is. When I asked our IT staff about it - a group of part-time college students - they just shrug and tell me everything is working. I can download movie files in an instant. Zip files, even the most basic ones, take about half an hour. This is true even when the movie and the zip file is on the same website. A movie file, six or eight times the size of the zip, downloads much faster. I've read through this forum and others. I followed this suggestion: I deleted my AirPort setting and reinstalled it under "wireless". This did not seem to change anything.

Mar 24, 2008I recently did a clean install of Leopard on a brand new hard drive for my Late '06 Mac Pro. I currently have all updates installed, and the system is running very fast and very stable. But! I've been experiencing two problems over the week I've had Leopard installed, and I would just like to know if other MP users are sharing these as well...
1. Half the time I wake the computer from sleep, the fans blast off for about 10 seconds before the desktop is shown. Sometimes when the computer goes to sleep, via Energy Saver, my hard drives keep spinning.
2. Shut down takes an excruciatingly long time. My typical shut down lasts around a minute to a minute and a half.
I've read around and have seen a few problems like this, but I want to know if there are a larger majority of people with a Mac Pro who are experiencing either of these in Leopard. It's not such a nuisance, being I don't have to wait for shut down and I can wait around a few seconds when waking up the computer. Though, here's to hoping 10.5.3 or a firmware update can fix these two issues!
MacBook Pro :: External HDD Taking Long Time To Load
Jul 23, 2009currently using a mid 09 13" Macbook Pro with 4gb of ram. Currently i have a Western Digital 1TB My Book External Hard Drive connected to the usb port. But everytime i try to access the ext hdd, there will be the dreaded beach ball ands takes around 3-5mins before the files can be displayed on finder. I never had this problem when it is plugged into my windows PC. My ext hard disk is currently formated in NTFS, im accessing the files through my mac using NTFS-3G. Could this be a reason?

Mar 21, 2010After reformatting I got to the setup screen after the cool intro. I noticed several problems.
When on the screen asking about transferring files from another computer I chose no since I have none to transfer. But after choosing my option and trying to move forward it sat on that screen for a while until it finally moved forward. It didn't do this before.
On the screen where you'd set up your internet connection and it lists available wireless networks it was slow on there too. It took me a while to move forward after choosing a different option. It took a while to recognize that I had hit a different option. Again, it didn't do this before.
Under the internet sharing option it listed an option called bluetooth DUN. This option wasn't there before. If I recall it only used to list ethernate and airport under these options, but bluetooth DUN was the first option listed. I reformatted again because this seemed too strange, but even though ethernate was listed first bluetooth DUN was still is this listing.
On the second reformat I got a message when turning airport off. I was dumb and didn't write the message down, but I believe it said something about airport power. Again, I didn't get this message before. Not when I first set up my Mac and not on the first reformat.
None of this has happened before. It bothers me. What's wrong?

May 1, 2008I recently upgraded to Mac OS X Lepoard and got Adobe Creative Suite CS3 loaded on my Powerbook G4. Now it's taking a long time to start up. It starts up with the normal gray screen with the apple logo in the middle then the screen turns blue for a while then I finally see my desktop. It just seems that the blue screen is there for a long time at first.
