Apr 11, 2012iMac with 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, plenty of space available and currently operating 10.5.8. Now I want to upgrade to Snow Leopard and since my Mac Mini came with it, I attempted to use the OSX install disc from the Mini in the iMac. I don't see a reason why this shouldn't work. There's no DRM or anything as far as I know. I'm just trying to bridge the gap so I can download Lion. I've looked into some of the advice others have given on this subject but my computer doesn't have those issues. I've tried booting from disc but I get the same message.

Mar 25, 2012I lost a hard drive recently while running Lion. I installed hard drive, installed from Snow Lepard, and restored from Time Machine, and applied all updates. Now the machine says it's at 10.6.8 - but several Apple apss didn't work - Safari, iTunes, and appstore.I deleted Safari and AppStore, dowladed the 10.6.8 Comb Updater, and ran that.Now Safar works again, but AppStore and iTunes don't - some CommerceKit library issue.

Apr 26, 2012Suddenly in the last few weeks my Safari preferences won't stay. I set a home page and "a new window opens with the same page" and within a few minutes, Safari has forgotten it and when I open Safari I just get a blank page. I have tried deleting the com.apple.Safari.plist file which works temporarily, then it forgets everything again.I am also having a problem with my monitors holding a calibration. I use a monitor test kit and the monitors aren't retaining the icc profile information. Jun 27, 2012My computer cannot see my scanner.I am using a UMAX 1220U flatbed scanner.It's connected by a USB cable.It has worked in the past with both Graphic Converter and Image Capture Version 6.0.1 (428).It has never worked with VueScan.Now, today, it won't work at all.Image Capture reports that no camera or scanner is connected.For drivers I use the SANE backends and frontends that I got from sane-project.org/intro.html. When Image Capture works, I see the SANE icon up in the "Devices" section of the column on the left.When Image Capture does not work, I do not see the SANE caption there.I have experimented with the USB cable, unplugging it and replugging it at both the computer and the scanner. I have moved the cable to different ports on the computer without success.
I have tried unplugging the power cord to the scanner for a while and then replugging the power cable.That has worked in the past, but not in the last two days.Today I redownloaded and reinstalled the SANE software again.It did not work.System Profiler does not list the scanner in the USB Device Tree.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Copying Mac App Store Apps May Cause Time Machine To Fail
Apr 25, 2012My Time Machine backups started failing the other day with the "error occurred while copying files" error (asking me to run Disk Utility). I ran DU and the drive checked out fine. I eventually checked the backupd logs (Console> filter "backupd") and found that TM was stopping with Error: (-41) SrcErr:No Copying /Path/to/a/file/inside/aMacAppStoreApp. Then saying the backup stopped with error:11.  So I deleted the App and ran the backup again. This time it gave me the same error on another MacAppStore App that I had installed. So I deleted that one too and then TM backup run successfully. Â
Background:
- There were only two MAS Apps installed (the two referenced above: Quick Note, ARD).
- Both were installed after being downloaded to a different computer, copied to this one, and then a copy made into the Applications folder. They were working fine.
- When I "installed" the Apps, I did not do a drag/drop copy, I did a copy/paste.
- There were two copies of the each App on the filesystem. 1 copy in my "software installers" folder and 1 copy in the Applications folder. Only the copy in the Applications folder failed to backup. The unused copy in the installers folder backed up fine. Â
Once the backups were working. I then moved the Apps from the "software installers" folder to the Applications folder. I opened the applications and they worked fine. I then ran the backup and it worked fine as well. Â So I'm not sure if Time Machine was failing because of my unusual way of copying them into the Applications folder or what? Thoughts? Either way, it seems like a strange thing to cause TM to completely fail.
