Mar 25, 2012I lost a hard drive recently while running Lion. I installed hard drive, installed from Snow Lepard, and restored from Time Machine, and applied all updates. Now the machine says it's at 10.6.8 - but several Apple apss didn't work - Safari, iTunes, and appstore.I deleted Safari and AppStore, dowladed the 10.6.8 Comb Updater, and ran that.Now Safar works again, but AppStore and iTunes don't - some CommerceKit library issue.

OS X :: Snow Leopard Installer Won't Launch?
Sep 13, 2010i have a 27 inch iMac. I'd like to reinstall Mac OS X SL from scratch. I do have the disks that came with the mac, but they got scratched really bad so whenever I put them in, restart the mac and start installing the system after formatting the HDD the installer gives me an error saying, that the system could not be installed. The disks are scratched really bad.
So I went out and got the Snow Leopard upgrade DVD, put it in, restarted, but I can't pass the Apple logo, I don't even get to the spinning wheel under the logo, it just freezes and the optical drive stops (I hear it stop).I've tried pressing "c" while restarting, but nothing works. I've even tried downloading Snow Leopard from torrents and installing from a usb drive - same thing happens.Does anyone know how to fix that?

Apr 8, 2012Two Flashback questions, followed by some background.
1) In cleaning up a Flashback infection, why would running the ls -lA~/Library/LaunchAgents / command in terminal, return the result "total 16", when there are only 2 items the LaunchAgents subfolder? (I checked for invisible files in that folder -- there are none.)
2) Should I delete any of plist files from the LaunchAgents folder, including the ones that appear to be for MobileMe synching and Safari bookmark synching? [code]

OK so did you type the title of your e-mail or any other unique text that relates to the mail here? Next you need to select 'All Mail' in the search tab. Next add a Folder colum to your search results and see if it shows up there.Â
if you now delete the found mails they will appear again in the deleted mail folder. from there you can delete them again etc. Did you do this and they are gone? And you are on a POP account? Â

Sep 4, 2009Backed up my macbook air using time machine to my time capsule. Then went into iphoto and backed up pictures just to make sure. (They are all the pictures of my 6 and 2 year old since birth, very important to me). Opened time machine to make sure that my pictures had backed up, they were there and I figure everything is good.
I install Snow Leopard and after rebooting all pictures are gone. My iphoto library is gone. I went from 49.68 gig of used storage space on my hard drive pre-Snow Leopard to 17.92 gig of used storage space on my hard drive after installing Snow Leopard. I get kind of hacked off but figure there is no big deal since I know that my photos are in my Time Capsule. I go into time machine and there are 0 jpegs, 0 iphoto libraries and no pictures of any kind other than icons.
I freak the heck out and just plain don't understand. I call Apple 2 hours on the phone yesterday and 2.5 hours on the phone today and I am told that it is a problem being passed onto the engineering department and that they will get back to me but most likely the photos are gone and they are sorry. 3500 photos of my children's lives eaten by the dang Snow Leopard.
This is unacceptable, I did everything right in this instance, backing up my things, even spent the extra money to buy the time capsule, from apple, to make sure my backups went flawlessly. Got an appointment with the Genius Bar at the local retail store for Sunday but I was told today that they will more than likely not be able to help and will just add to the notes on my "Case" with apple.

Mar 14, 2012In order to save space on my MBP 2011 Snow Leopard, I deleted privateÂ/var/db folder, yes the whole folder to the trashbin and then I emptied it. Files that were in use weren´t deleted.So I rebooted and the screen is stuck on apple logo with the turning wheel and safe boot start normally but end up with the turning wheel too. Can I recover the files deleted ? Or at least put back the files that are still in the trash bin?Â

Jun 7, 2012I have absolutely no idea how it happened but i have suddenly got upwards of 1000 deleted emails showing in my Inbox, greyed-out. I cant move them or do anything else with them, much less remove them.Â
I tried Cmd-Z when it happened, nothing happened, then I listed them by sender (Facebook) and tried to move them to Trash with no luck either. Â

Jun 18, 2012I wanted to unzip a file with BetterZip. It said there exists another file with the same name.I answered it's question if I want to replace or unzip this file to another place just with replace. But the result was that the whole content of the folder where the file should be extracted to, was deleted by BetterZip.The volume on which that happened is not my start / system volume, it's a separate volume only with data.
1.) Exists a way to see a list of the files which were deleted ? (Because I don't know if there was something really important inside.)
2.) Is there a terminal command or another method to get these files back to that folder ?
