Have tried several times to upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion. Shows it is downloading, but nothing is happening. The lion icon is on my bar - grayed.

I can't seem to get the App Store to sell me Lion Server for my Snow Leopard Server.I'm trying to remain positive about this but I'm getting really that money isn't enough to make this happen.My experiencewith the App Store and Apple policies in general is its almost time to dump OS X and head back to Open Source.I put money in my iTunes account.I've done the 15 logins it takes to satisfy AppleID my account is complete and up-to-date in the store and the Support Communities.How do I buy the software and actually download and install it?

I have OS X.5.8; I bought OSX Snow Leopardabout two years ago, but never installed. I want to upgrade to Snow Leopard at long last (and maybe to Lion). But when I put the Snow Leopard disk in, I can hear my disk drive trying and trying, and then it just spits it out. I know disk drive works. & I bought the disk from an Apple store. Is the disk bad - or is it that my MacBook can't be upgraded to Snow Leopard?

TI used an external HD to back up everything first. I upgraded and it went just fine. Now neither USB port will recognize anything plugged in. iphone, ipod, camera, external HD, nothing. Someone suggested zapping the pram, but that didn't work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have always backed up all of my important data on to external Hard Drives/CD's/DVD's etc manually however to make life easier, I have now decided to start using Time Machine (should have done so a long time ago I know). I am also about to upgrade my iMac from Snow Leopard to Lion. My question is, should I perform a Time Machine back up before the upgrade or would it make sense to upgrade to Lion first & then perform the Time Machine back up.Â
The only advantage I can see by running Time Machine before the upgrade is in case there is an error/corruption in the upgrade process but having never used TM
