I purchased OS X Lion this afternoon and started the download, 5 hours later it's only downloaded 1.5gb and it's saying it's got another 9 hours to go!!?? The App store is downloading at 105kb/s (that is Bytes per second, not Bits per second). If I download something from iTunes or dropbox I get about 800kb/s. Why is the App store so slow?

When I right click some links in Webkit / Safari I see an option to "Download with Speed Download". In the app itself though I see no options for contexual menu items. Can anyone direct my blind ass to where I can turn this off? I've "completely disabled the Safari plugin" but I'm not sure that's it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently discovered that an app I previously purchased is no longer on my iPhone or iMac. When I log in to my Apple account and look at my purchase history it clearly shows I paid $4.99 for it on March 11th 2011. Now if I go to the App Store to re-download it I see that it's $4.99, I assumed once I clicked on "Buy" that a pop-up would appear notifying me that it has already been purchased and ask if I would like to re-download it for free. However, when I click on it a pop-up appeared asking if I would like to buy it and that $4.99 will be charged to my credit card if I do. Has anybody heard of this happening before and more importantly does anyone know how I can re-download this app without paying for it?

Me and my friend are on the same wifi connection, but his macbook (thats 1 year older than mine) downloads 10 times faster. I'm getting around 0.24 Mbps while my friend gets around 1,8 Mbps. My internet is really slow and I have trouble opening a lot of internet sites. I wonder if ive done something to my settings so that the download limit is limited or something.

Ok so i am using a macbook running snow leopard and up until recently my internet has been fast. download speeds at about 360 kb/s. Then this morning my download speed plummeted to about 15 kb/s. I took a speed test on speedtest.net which stated that my download speed was 9.7mbps which is what I'm paying for, but still my browsing speed is ridiculously slow on all websites.
I've tried using firefox and chrome but they all seem to be having the same problem.
I am connected by ethernet as airport has full connection but can't seem to load anything. I have also tried to configure my ethernet connection manually as i read that this would help the issue.
I recently purchased my first Mac computer, a MacBook Pro with Intel Core 2 Duo processor. I receive free internet included in my apartment rent, and I don't use a router, instead I simply plug into the wall. I previously used a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista and there was no problems. I am not very knowledgeable about computers really, especially when it comes to the internet. I need advice on how to speed my downloads, but speak to me like you would 2 y/o.
I can't seem to find anything that applies to me or I can understand. I'm currently using Transmission for torrents and Safari for browsing, but my general internet connection outside of downloads seems to be fine.
I need to find a better download management application than Speed Download. Whenever I run speed, and download more than one file at a time, my memory usage skyrockets and maxes out. System runs VERY sluggish, and i basically can't use my MBP until downloads are done.
i've got a 6 year old 12 inch powerbook G4 1.33 ghz that has internet speeds around 5177kbps, but overall its a bit dated sooo I wanted something a bit more new. I recently picked up a white 2.4 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook, HOWEVER the internet wireless speeds on it is dismal in comparison. I'm getting download speeds on average around 405kbps and upload speeds are pretty much non-existant! I've matched both of them to the same internet settings and they are both running 10.5.8. So again I'm stumped and if anybody can give me some idea as to what to do, Id greatly appreciate it!

Trying to re-install Twitter from the Mac App Store. When I click "install" I get a prompt to type in my Apple ID (pre-filled with jonas.clement@hotmail.com; NOT ME). When I type my correct Apple ID and password in I get an "Error -4" message followed by "Unknown Error" message. Â
I have NO clue who jonas.clement@hotmail.com is. My account has not been hacked (at least no unauthorized purchases have been made). Â When I view my previously purchased apps, I see the whole list, Twitter, included...but I can't seem to download it. Â

I recently wiped my MacBook Pro 5,3 and reinstalled snow leopard from the disc that came with it. I updated to 10.6.8 and opened the App Store to upgrade to Lion. I've got a real odd problem with safari 4. For some reason it is cutting my download speeds in about 1/2 from my server and many other places.
If I restart safari I will be able to download close to my 18 Mbps for a little bit but then it will just start to slow down and after about 30 minutes it will be down to about 6 - 8 Mbps.
By mistake the Mac OS X Lion (10.7.4) file was deleted from the purchase section (Order Number: MGN5FKZ58X) of the Apple App Store. Because of this I am unable to update the OSX Lion software and now If I try to update/download the version from the Apple Store I will be charged again, because earlier on the OSX Lion page in the Apple App Store the option mentioned was either Install or Download, but since the deletion of the file from the purchase section the option shows $29.9. Why should I buy it again when I had already purchased the software. Is there a way to retrieve my previous purchase. I was given an option from the Apple App Consumer Support that downloading and paying for the software again is the only option.
