I imported my pictures to aperture, and in the project window, I have one "lump" of 4000 pictures. They ARE separated by folders and albums (and subfolders), but in the finder, they are just one lump of files. How do I get the files (in the finder) back to a folder structure?!

I hate to resort to using Comcast's email program but.....does anyone here know how I can get my Folders from MacMail into Comcast's email program?
I can't find a third party app to create a MD5 checksum of folders and subfolders. The closest I got was checksum+, but the programs doesn't handle large folders; it freezes.
So I would like to go into Terminal and do it manually. Can someone share the command line to create:
�a MD5 checksum of a folder and its subfolders and output it to a txt file.
�a way then to use that outputted text file for file verification. My initial thinking is that I would have to create another MD5 checksum of the copied folder and then use a difference type command to compare the text files?
I want to sort ALL the files on my mac so that no matter what folder i'm in or how deep in folders i am everything is sorted by name.

I am currently running low on disk space on my Macbook Pro and most of that is due to my large photo archive in Aperture. Right now I have my photos stored in 3 places: once on computer, once on a LaCie Disk with TimeMachine, and another time on another LaCie Disk with the Aperture Vault Backup.
So my question is, how do I move to only have my most recent and best photos on my computer and than the rest of my photos on the external hard drives.
I know there is probably some simple way, but right now I really don't know how to do it.
Problem:
I have a folder with numerous subfolders, each containing numerous files that i would like to batch unlock (vs tediously unlocking each individual folder).
failed attempts involve:
- tried the following terminal action: sudo chflags -R nouchg ( as suggested on this website (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106237) but it did not work.
I did not try the other suggestions on the website because it started getting really complicated and i was afraid to do something that may cause damage/delete my files
- tried unlocking the folders and subfolders, however each individual file within the corresponding folder/subfolders remained locked
Partial but suboptimal solutions tried:

however, the option-command-I will only allow me to unlock files each subfolder at a time (as i need to actually highlight the files themselves).
is there a way where i could just unlock all the folder/subfolders/files within an entire directory in one fell swoop?

Aperture will lock up during Export>Original or Export>Version. My workaround has been to edit in Photoshop and export from there. I deleted the plist and repaired disc permissions..

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am suddenly getting a "The export operation failed to create # of files...." This is happening when I try to export to the Mac HD (Retina 13MBP)
If I export to desktop, I am ok. I have run disc utils verified disc and fixed permissions on the drive...as welll as the permissions on the Ap library, and a rebuild.
I can also export to a connected thunderbolt. It seems to only be the HD and it happens with differet export settings.

I'm using Aperture 3.6 to create and then export a slideshow to 1080p. When playing back the exported .MOV file, some pictures have randomly disappeared leaving a black background and I've exported to a reduced 720p with random pictures still missing. If the slideshow is previewed in Aperture, all the pictures are OK and none are missing and I get the same export problems using iPhoto to export the slideshows.

So I've generally avoided using iPhoto for my pictures, mostly due to the familiarity of the old school method, which is just putting different folders and the like in the "Pictures" section of finder. So, if you click on "Pictures," you'll see various categories: family, friends, celebrities, sports, wallpapers, etc. Then when you click on, say, family, you'll have other folders of the various family members of families. Then you click and you see the pictures, etc.
Is there a way to organize this in iPhoto in the same fashion? Where I can have various main categories (i.e., family pictures), but various subcategories (i.e., the Smith Family, the Doe family, etc.) within the folders? Or am I fine with how I have it now?
I noticed that Aperture 3 is priced really, REALLY low on the Mac App Store. So I made the decision to buy it. But... I already have Aperture 2 installed. So what happens when I buy Aperture 3? Does it recognize that I have Aperture 2 installed, and upgrade it, or will it install Aperture 3 alongside Aperture 2?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo i've recently gotten in the uploading to YouTube craze with my Flip Mino HD but i'm not too happy at the way i've been doing this and am hoping there is an easier way.
As of late i've been importing what i film into iMovie. In iMovie i'll edit the video to my liking. In iMovie i'll "export" to the media browser so it'll show up in GarageBand. Then i'll open GarageBand and edit my film further, dealing with sound; adding music. After that i'll export it as a .MOV to my desktop. Then i'll open iMovie again and import that .MOV file and from there in iMovie will have it upload to YouTube in its original HD format.
I'm looking for software that can silently sync local folders with remote webdav folders.
It would also be nice if I could just relate to the local folder, and the software would automatically synce new files in both directions.
My Applications and Documents folder on my dock dont seem to have the folders with there symbols on it, they seem to other material. How can I get them to show the folders. Im running on Snow Leopard!
View 6 Replies View Relatedin the last two days, when i make something in garageband and i want to export to disk. before i would choose my desktop and after normalizing and converting...it would put a mp3 on my desktop. recently when i do this, it normalizes the track...but it just stops after that....no mp3 on my desktop....i have to send it to itunes now and then pull it out of itunes to have an mp3....what is going on?

View 3 Replies View Relatedso i've created outlines for a bunch of animated characters- 24 frames per second, each frame is a different psd file with black outlines. I'm animating over live action footage, similar in look and style to Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
I brought them in to final cut and edited them nicely (i applied some motion effects, changing the position on a few frames) so i can work with them in after effects to track them to some handheld shots.
What i need to know how to do is to export these outlines from FCP to After Effects with an alpha background- I did the export with the animation codec and the millions+ option, but when i brought them into after effects, the frames are all black! (as they are in FCP when i get rid of the shot beneath them...(which i'm doing because i just want to edit the outlines in after effects, not them on top of the footage))
Is there any way to save the slideshows from iPhoto 09 into a video format (.mov,.mp4 etc.) I think the new slideshows are brilliant and I would like to use them within keynote presentations but don't want to keep going in and out of presentation mode in keynote to click 'play slideshow' in iphoto and back again into the presentation

Both systems have iTunes 8.0.2 installed.
I'm trying to import my EQ settings in iTunes (that I created) but have no luck.
I've read elsewhere I need the .itl file in the iTunes folder, but iTunes 8 doesn't seem to offer one.
Guys I'm having one slight problem. I have iWork 09, and when I try to export PDF the pdf looks really bad on 100% zoom. 125% is quite OK, though still not perfect. When I preview the document in PDF,it looks perfect. However when I export it, characters aren't inline and look weird. Who knows why this might be? I have an imac 2.66 ghz bought in October if that's of any use.
