MacBook Pro :: Why Does The Apple Logo Have Green Lines On It

Jun 17, 2010

My MacBook Pro started Experiencing this today... for the first time it completely crashed, and the screen got filled with green lines... I restarted it and when the Apple logo came up, it had some stripes in it, and won't start the system due to "System Failure" or something like that... I managed to get through it, but then it happened again and now it's for good. I can start the system, but when it comes to passing the Apple logo it just crashes and the screen is filled with green stripes. I wish I could screen shot it, but it mysteriously disappeared on my last attempt to turn the system on... and when it happens it just freezes the system.

MacBook Pro :: Apple Logo Comes Up Then Screen Goes To Vertical Lines?

Sep 11, 2010

I replaced my cracked LCD screen on my 17" macbook pro, and upon firing up you hear the chime, and the apple logo comes up just fine. Then after that it goes to horizontal lines, and no image on it. If I plug in an external, it shows up just fine on it, and if I put in the original cracked screen, I can see my desktop and everything as well.

MacBook Pro :: Thin Green Lines On Screen

Jun 19, 2014

my macbook pro screen has two thin green lines running down the screen from top to bottom.  i have run the apple hardware test and it has detected an error.  unfortunately i am in a remote village for the next two months and unable to get my macbook to a repair centre. What the thin green lines indicate?, whether the error on the hard drive and the green lines are connected or something different? the lap top seems to be working fine however im concerned that as i cant get to a repair place for the next 2 months whether continued use will damage the computer further?

Mac :: Green Lines On IMac When Using EyeTV Or VLC

Jul 19, 2010

My friend has the 24" white, 2.16Ghz iMac - spec is currently running a fully updated install of Tiger, and running EyeTV v2.5.3 and VLC (unknown version). Here are the problems being exhibited:1/ When EyeTV is running, it will sporadically, and unpredictably, crash without explanation.2/ Many times, the iMac will not even boot - it gets so far @ the grey screen, and then the "Please restart your computer" screen pops up:3/ Also, when using either VLC or EyeTV, sometimes there are patterns of green *horizontal* lines, spanning the area of the video playback window (NOT the entire iMac screen) - this happens a LOT.I have booted in safe mode, verified the volume in Disk Utility, repaired permissions, and it still exhibits these same issues. Also, EyeTV will freeze when displaying video, quite often.

Software :: Photo Booth Green Lines - How To Know About It

Feb 19, 2009

I downloaded the newest effects for Photo booth Composer FX Effects for Photo Booth 1.9.2 and whenever i added the effects there is a green line through the effect. I have downloaded other effects in the past so I don't know if the two cannot be used together and interefere. Also when I downloaded the effects it said we strongly recommend downloading these updates (and then it said a list of updates) I tried to update them but it said my computer did not need them. So basically, I have the effects set up on my photobooth, and they work, they just have green lines striking through the effect.

Mac Pro :: Green Horizontal Lines On Display And Crashing

Aug 31, 2014

I have a 2007 Mac Pro 1,1 with attached 24" apple display and utilizing 5 GB Ram and maxed out on internal hard drives. It's been a flawless workhorse and I mostly tax it with Photoshop which it does well. Well, yesterday, I was viewing a small video on my Mac when this issue occurred. Suddenly I saw these squiggly looking horizontal lines on my display. Then I saw a spinning beach ball. I had to shut down.

I double checked my display cables in case any were loose - no issues. Restarted without issue. Went back to work on my computer - no issues doing ordinary tasks such as opening windows, moving files and surfing the internet. Went back into Photoshop and resized several dozen images without issue. Then, this happened again... restarted. Zapped PRAM just in case. Fired up Tech Tool Deluxe (older version 3.1.3) and it found NO problems, I passed all tests.

Then... out of nowhere it crashed again, third time... I don't recall what I was doing to be honest. I shut down my Mac last night and this morning have spent an hour on and so far, so good. However, I'm not taxing it by doing anything intense. I need to use Photoshop for a project I'm working on so I will do that soon and see if this issue repeats.

I've tried searching the forums but can't find anything conclusive to my specific issue. What else should I do? What else should I check? Is this hardware or a software issue? I have temperature monitor installed - should I be looking at specific temperature increases and if so, where?

GPU going bad on logic board? This is a really close up image taken with my iphone, obviously the lines aren't this large.

Hardware :: Aluminum Apple Remote Does Not Have An Apple Logo?

Jan 8, 2010

I know this is kind of off topic and the logo does not make the product any different but I found it a little odd that Apple decided to not to put their logo on the remote. It's made out of aluminum and has enough space on the back for a logo to be present. Apple put's their logo on everything that has enough space for one. The old remote had it, mouse, keyboard, MacBook/MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Pro, iPod's, iPhone, docks, and gift cards all have it. Their earphones don't have it because they are to small to put a logo without making them look stupid. I wonder what Jonathan Ive and Jobs were thinking when they decided to not put the logo. The back of the remote almost seems bare without it.

Hardware :: Apple Investigating Graphics On New MacBook Lines

Nov 26, 2008

Apple is investigating two separate graphics issues with its new line of MacBook and MacBook Pros, and is reported to be preparing a software update to remedy at least one of them. The first issue, which some are calling "the black screen of death," manifests itself on unibody MacBook Pros during game play. Users report that their screens go black after just a few minutes of gaming, while the system locks up and the audio enters into an infinite loop.Once the systems lock up, users say they lose control of their cursor and are left with no other option but to restart their Macs through a hard reset. The issue exists under both Windows and Mac OS X, affecting a wide range of titles that include Call of Duty 4, World of Warcraft, Ages of Empire III, Command and Conquer, Oblivion, Company of Heroes, and others.

OS X :: MacBook Air Gets To Apple Logo, Turns Black?

Feb 19, 2009

Disk Utility in OS X gave me a Invalid key length after checking Catalog file, so I restarted to OS X Install DVD. It did the same thing on the OS X Install DVD. I went to Startup Disk, changed it back to the Mac OS X on Macintosh HD option - so I could go in and back my stuff up. It just goes to apple logo, does the spin thing at the bottom, and goes black. I can't even boot from DVD anymore.

MacBook Pro :: Stuck At Apple Logo (no CD Boot Either)

Jan 22, 2010

I have a major problem with my first Generation MacBook Pro. It won't boot anymore: it just turns on and gets stuck at the Apple logo. There is no spinning wheel and nothing else happens. Pressing 'C' for booting from CD or pressing ALT and choosing the CD as an alternative boot source does not work either: it just does exactly the same, gets stuck at the apple logo. I already tried resetting the PRAM and NVRAM, as well as the SMC. This also did not change anything. CMD+V mode starts up then stops at the line "ACPI: System State [S0 S3 S4 S5] (S3)"

What can I do? I really need to save my Mac, there is some really important stuff on there

MacBook Pro :: Apple Logo Slow To Show Up?

So I just bought a Seagate momentus XT HDD for my 2010 i7 15" MBP. I clonded the drive using Super Duper from the old drive (500GB Toshiba) to the new drive using a USB SATA enclosure.

I now have the new drive installed. Once the Apple logo shows up it boots very fast, but it takes like 30 seconds for the logo to show up almost as if it is having trouble finding the boot drive.

I have run Onyx's full automated service whihc verified startup disk, verified and repaired permissions, emptied caches, etc.
