Feb 2, 2012I have blue and green vertical lines on my iMac which is no longer covered by Applecare. Is it fixable?

MacBook Pro :: 15" Screen Has Vertical Blue Lines?
Jun 10, 2012I have a Macbook Pro 15" (mid 2010) 2.53GHz Interl Core i5 running OSX Lion 10.7.4. Generally the computer and screen are in good condition and have had no damage. The screen has Vertical blue lines and there is a tint of blue generally. The startup apple grey screen however is perfect, it is only when it enters the login screen that the lines appear. All the colours are off. Other than these lines the computer works perfectly
The computer was used yesterday (09 June 2012) without a problem for approx 1hour. It was then left for the day indoors on a desk out of direct sunlight. The computer was switched on later that evening and the problem started to appear I have already tried to reset the PRAM and SMC with no affect.
I also read that it may be a cable problem, however as the startup screen works perfectly i question this.

May 14, 2012I have a 2007 MacBookPro. shortly after installing Lion 10.7.3 and VectorWorks 2011 I started getting vertical blue and black lines across my screen on startup. They remain with in the apple while the computer boots and the everything freezes. I tried all of the usual fixes, recovery, safe boot, reset PRAM, battery, etc.When I tried to boot of a system disc I get a message sating that I need to restart my computer. Upon restart same problem occurs. 2 months ago I took the whole thing apart and cleaned out the guts. Reconnecting all cables back together, I came across, what I think is the camera cable. Since my camera has been erratic, i decided to test the problem with it connected and then disconnected. Connected same problem. Once i unplugged the camera everything went back to normal, until now. The same problem returned. I cleaned out the guts again. This time I unplugged the hard drive to try and boot off the C drive, but still get the same problem. This morning It decided to boot up. I was able to copy my essential files onto an external drive.

Apr 25, 2012I am trying to get my MacBook LCD to work right. It happened because one time I was carefully wiping my MacBook screen with a little hand sanitizer and a paper towel. However, later my screen started to show a-lot of weird lines and eventually blue, pink and green tiny vertical lines but it is not completely renderd useless, it is just plain annoying and whenever I have an open window on the screen for a long time and I move it around eventually, it shows an imprint in the background into the screen and even when I restart, shutdown or use Windows in BootCamp it just shows up.

Nov 30, 2014grey screen no apple followed by blue screen with vertical lines. Graphics and logic board replaced <6 months ago. What to do? I held down shift, it gets HOT HOT and makes noises. (for safety mode) followed by a blank grey screen and blue screen. Then tried the other way (I think it's command alt delete? I don't remember) and it turned from grey (no apple symbol) to blue blank. Then third time, grey followed by blue with vertical lines, not blocky clear lines that you can see if you are close to it.

Jun 23, 2012I have recently noticed two vertical lines (seem to be a lighter shade of display screen color) running top to bottom on my desktop. They stay on my display screen all of the time. This lovely old guy was purchased May 2006 but has every upgrade (except Lion....running Snow Leopard) and full component of memory...serves me well but I need to know if this is a sign I am losing my hardware.

Mar 5, 2012Simply using my Imac for watching tv on the web, Hulu, and left to help my wife get groceries in the house. My wife checked her email and closed Safari.
I came back in roughly 10 minutes from when she shut down Safari to see a black screen with white pinstriping, and the mac being totally unresponsive. Shut down and rebooted, sent off the report to Apple, and am now here with seemingly no problems.
Needless to say, as a photographer this computer is just about as important as my camera. Should I be worried? discovered the thread to this issue, which appears to be quite extensive.

Intel Mac :: Screen Covered With Vertical Straight Lines?
May 17, 2012It started a week ago while playing Civilization V on my iMac : the screen suddenly displayed vertical blue (altered with dark blue) vertical straight lines, the sound was still working, i could hear the music from the game. Then the screen turned black and i couldn't hear anything anymore, i had to restart the computer with the apple button. The same happened again with civilization, once with green lines. And today, while restarting after this bug, the screen displayed multicolor lines instead of the grey wallpaper with the apple.

Intel Mac :: Vertical "flicking" Lines On 27" Display?
Mar 20, 2012These lines are 1cm apart one another, and are almost invisible, but their "flicking" it's really noticeable and quite annoying working as a graphic. It has less than 2 years but they say that the warranty it's over, even if by law it should be at least 2 years, it's obviously ah hardware problem, so I'm quite sure it's a display problem and probably should be replaced.

MacBook Pro :: Vertical Lines On LCD Screen?
Nov 9, 2009 For the past few days, my screen has been going in and out of being entirely covered by 1px white lines that occasionally flicker blue or something. Like, when I'm typing (as I am now) if the window is positioned one pixel off, the blinking cursor won't appear (and on my black screensaver, it looks more like it's white/light grey because literally every other 1px line is white). Well, this morning it got weird again, but it hasn't gone back to normal!
I have a Mid-2007 Santa Rosa Macbook Pro, 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo- LED Screen, backlight works fine and if I turn it completely down ('off') the problem persists. I have Boot Camp installed, and the problem persists when booting into Windows as well.
I looked around and tried a few fixes to no avail (slept the screen, reset the PRAM, messed with the resolution a bit).
I took a screenshot and everything shows up normal. I had to finish a paper I was working on, and the screen was getting unbearable, so I tried plugging it into a mate's external lcd and the image came up completely fine, no vertical lines!
So, what could this be, and what could I do to fix it? Could this be the infamous problem with the Nvidia 8600GT M graphics card- so would I have to get the logic board repaired!? (UGH I hope not) Could it just be a connection issue? I did install a new hard drive, a new stick of memory, and Leopard, but that was months ago! Anything else I might be missing? and I hope this problem isn't too serious!
P.S.-on a side-note, has anybody done the upgrade to the latest firmware for the fans (SMC something)? Should I give that a try (or should I do it anyway, regardless of whether it could help)? When it was released, I heard of some bad experiences, so I stayed away.
Software :: Vertical Lines On Desktop?
Apr 13, 2009iBook G4, OSX 10.4, has thin vertical lines appearing far right desktop...different colors. Four so far. Also, Safari keeps asking for keychain password but login password does not work and keychain utility won't allow any actions.
Related? This is a "refurbished" computer from Ebay (Tech Replay) and I don't have the system disks to start over.

Oct 6, 2010Hi I'm connecting an external monitor to my macbook pro and am experiencing regular vertical lines throughout the external screen. I've tried DVI-D and VGA. I've tried changing resolutions. I have taken a screen shot of the monitor but this screen shot shows a clear image. Attached is a picture of what it looks like. Hard to spot as taken with my isight. (Ignore the cable hanging down).

I've had it sent into Apple once for the horizontal flashing lines, but these are new... it's like a gray vertically striped film covers the whole screen, and unlike the horizontal lines, shaking/hitting the screen does not help.
OS X :: Safari Blank Screen With Vertical Lines?
Sep 16, 2009After installing Snow Leopard, I noticed that when I select a web page from the Safari startup grid (medium 6 web pages), the screen turns white with many vertical lines. This lasts for approximately 4-5 seconds before the web page loads. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

MacBook Pro :: Red Vertical Lines For Black Screen?
Mar 13, 2010My MacBookPro 15" 5.3 worked fine until today, All the blacks (rgb 0,0,0) on the screen become red stripes.
When I boot into Linux or Windows the same problem appears, so it's probably a hardware problem.
I have no expensive adaptor to connect to an external lcd screen, so I don't know yet if the problem is in the mac screen or in the cabling or somewhere else...

Apr 10, 2010My computer (24" 3.06Ghz intel core 2 duo) won't start. When I try to turn on or restart my iMac I get vertical rows of pixelated lines across my monitor on the white startup background with the apple logo and it will either freeze up or the background turns gray and I get a message that says I should restart my computer. This has also happened when restarting using the Apple hardware test (which doesn't report any errors).

Jun 29, 2012This just started today. My computer started to get weird vertical colored lines on the screen. At first, I thought it was just the website I was on, but more and more began to appear everywhere. I unplugged my computer and plugged it back it, turned it on, and when the white screen witht he Apple logo came up, the lines were everywhere. They weren't just making vertical lines, but also squares. Later, the weirdest thing happened. I was opening a new window on Safari, and suddenly, these pyramid-shaped objects covered the screen. They were red, with a little with of blue and a tiny bit of white on them. they pointed in all directions, and the minute I moved my mouse, they dissapeared. When I hold down on the left button on the mouse and hover it over the squares and lines, about 65% of the dots dissapear. My computer is an iMac G5 from 2004 with no iSight, the model number is A1058, the software is Leopard (10.5.8), and the processor is 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5.

MacBook Pro :: Green And Purple Vertical Stripes And Not Rebooting?
Sep 1, 2009while surfing the internet (I was reading an article on CNN and scrolling down to continue reading), the screen color changed to tinges of green and purple. The entire thing froze...no keys, no mouse, not even force quit...nothing. I had no choice but to do a hard shut down by holding down the power button until the laptop just shut off (Macbook Pro). In the middle of rebooting, (at the grey screen with the apple logo on it, I got the familiar circular dial that ticks around as it loads) a screen wipe similar to the effect of some screen savers went from the top of the screen to the bottom turning the screen from grey into green and purple vertical stripes.
It also said "you need to restart your computer" and proceeded to tell me how to do so in four different languages. Upon doing so, the same thing happened...several times. I tried booting it into safe mode by holding down the shift key until the grey apple background appeared and it seemed to be working as the loading was taking forever. Alas, the same thing happened. I took the battery out and held down the power button for 10 seconds, put the battery back in only to suffer the same effect. The next genius bar reservation isn't until Friday.

Nov 4, 2009I have a macbook pro (late 2007-2.4ghz). Nearly a year ago I had my logic board changed as there were no display on the monitor though my computer was working. They said it is a production mistake and my logic board would be changed even if it was not on warranty.But now when my computer overheats a green vertical line at the left side of my monitor displays. when it cools this line disappears.know 17 inch unibody macbook pros had same issue with 9600 gts graphic cards. My graphic card is 8800m gt. Is there a solution for that or I had to change my logic board again?
