ITunes :: Misreading The Length Of One Of Mp3 Files?
Feb 20, 2012
Actual length of the file is 5:03 minutes, itunes is showing it to be 27:08, so it won't fit on a cd in it's current playlist. How to fix? Latest version of itunes running the latest version of lion on a shiny old macbook.
Info:
black macbook(2007), iphone 4, Mac OS X (10.7)
I wanted a visual representation of all my videos, regardless of format, in iTunes so I've used a combination of QT reference files for AVIs and placeholder M4Vs for DVD rips. To get the placeholders I Handbraked a 7-second clip of a DVD to M4V and applied metadata. This works to get the coverart in iTunes but the minor annoyance to my OCD nature is that the track length shows as 7 seconds (see image). Is there anyway to hack this information somewhere so I can show the actual runtime?
I make videos for my martial arts school using iMovie & iDVD (5). The problem is that the original movies run about 2 hours and 10 minutes, but iDVD will not burn a DVD that long. I have to cut the movie down to about 1:53 to accomodate the menu, etc. The person who did this before me was using Windows and was able to massage the frame rate to squeeze a bit more time. So here's my question: Will this problem go away if I were to use Final Cut Pro or FC Express? We're talking about $4000 in new equipment here, so this is a very important question that I need answered with some detail by someone who has used one of those programs.
The back of my iMac gets so very hot at the top. It is almost too hot to keep my hand on for any length of time. Is this normal or do I have some problem ?
Can anyone explain to me why when I burn a full length film on dvd from my PC using DVD Clone, I can rip the dvd and burn it from the hard drive without compressing. A very simple process. But on the mac the dvd has to be ripped with MTR, or similar, then compressed, then burned using Toast or Popcorn or something similar. Why are these added steps not necessary on a PC. I don't understand.
Can anyone tell me the Length x Breadth dimensions of the trackpad on the new MacBooks?I'm wondering because I ordered one online (no stores in Ireland ) and I didn't to see in real life.
I'm new to the Mac software and would like to know how to match your music track length to your video clip in your imovie09 project. I have looked everywhere and can't find how to do it.
I've set up some alarms that are scheduled to show a message, but the messages only show two lines of what I've written. I want to see everything. How can I do this, is it even possible?
If I can't do this in iCal, does anyone know of an app that will do the job? Something where I can schedule messages to pop-up on a reoccurring bases.
I wanted to burn a more than two hour long .avi file to a DVD using Toast Titanium 10. However, when I import the file in Toast, it says it's only 58 minutes!
I have added music from i tunes to my slideshow but cannot edit the length of the songs/ or edit in any way?or is it better to do in I DVD?? basically i dont want to play the entire song i select - but add in and out points.
I have previously used the GRAB utility to take a snapshot of an open Safari windiw, and the snapshot included the entire windiw contents. When I opened the snapshot in Preview, I could scroll up and down and view the entire contents of the original Safari windiw. Then, I tried it again a few hours later on a different Safari window, but I then got only the part of the windiw that was visible in the browser at the time that I GRABbed the window (i.e., when I took the snapshot). What do I need to do to get the entire windiw?
When importing songs into iTunes, the software by default is set to copy the music files to the iTunes media folder and convert them to .m4a format. This, of course, results in having two copies of each song after the import is done. Before I disable this option I'd like to know what you think are the pros and cons of having this option enabled/disabled.
I have a Lacie external hard disk that was originally formatted for PCs. I have some files there, but more importantly, my iTunes library is saved directly on the Lacie (I have everything on apple lossless, so they are some big files). I will keep using this PC while connected to the Lacie hard disk to syncro my iPod.
The problem is that I bought a mac now and I wanted the Lacie hard disk to be able to transfer files from mac to pc and vice versa. I have already read that I would have to copy the files that are on the Lacie, reformat the Lacie and then paste the files back. My only doubt is that if I do this reformatting, will I have any problems using the iTunes library while connected to my pc and iPod?
I just ask that because every time I changed any iTunes library folder on the computer, the iTunes would say that the music file couldnt be found and ask me if I wanted to look for the file. I didnt want to reformat the Lacie to later find out that I would have to look for every single music file, because that would be nearly impossible. I dont know if I was able to make my question really clear
Im trying to get all of my itunes and files onto my PC from my mac. Would the best way to do this be through an external hard drive? Will the external hd be cross compatible? I can't do it with an iPod becuase it's formatted differently right?
I want to transfer my iTunes files from a PC to an external hard drive, and then I want to run iTunes on a Mac PowerBook from the external hard drive. Getting the files on the external hard drive doesn't seem too hard. I'm just not sure about what I need to do for the second part. Also, will any external HD work for this?
I've been removing a bunch of bloat from the iTunes library, and one of the things I did was transcode my 10 GB or so of lossless audio to 256 kbps VBR, then delete the lossless files. The problem is that since the transcode creates new copies of the audio files, I ended up with
10 The Mariner's Revenge Song.m4a
10 The Mariner's Revenge Song 1.m4a
Once the transcode was complete, I deleted all of the original lossless files from library and my computer, but I can't get rid of the 1 on the end of the remaining filenames. I seem to remember File -> Library -> Consolidate Library to have worked on an earlier version of iTunes, but it doesn't seem to do anything now. My library is set to keep things organized, but that doesn't seem to be working for files already in the library.
this morning i was adding some mp3's to my itunes library, the same way i have been doing it for the last 2 years. all of a sudden my itunes just stopped adding my songs i tried importing it i tried dragging and dropping , literally everything i could think of, i never used a mp3 converter for my songs before , so i highly doubt i need one now, since i have been downloading my music in the same way for the last 2 years. how i can get my itunes to add my music again ?
-My job is offering to buy me new Mac laptop (like ). Â
-At home I already own a 5 year old Mac Book Pro, upgradable to Lion, beat up on the outside, could change hard drive myself. Â
-Also own a iMac which has a new 1TB hard drive I put in there. This machine is not upgradable to Lion. Connected to this iMac is a 1TB external back up drive which backs up this iMac. Â
I have right now about 75GB of music in my iTunes right now (on MacBookPro), plus about 600 Cds to be ripped and imported at some point. I am considering using Amazon Music Cloud or iTunes Match at some point but....I may will still want to have a backup of my music anyway? and it may be I may not like playing music off of clouds? (because it relies on my intenert connection....)Â
So if I was to store my music collection.....should it be on:Â -The old iMac; use it as a jukebox? Can I control the iMac and its iTunes from new laptop? (iMac is 10.4.8 which may have sharing limits?)-Is this practical? Â
-Are there external hard drives out there that wake up fast and put music there? (in the past, loading the library takes longer when having the music on external hard drive). Â
Overall, I live in a small place so I dont necessarily want to fill up my space with mutliple computers. I almost wish I didnt have the old machines, it would simplify my decisions!Â
I purchased songs from iTunes Store. Files are on my computer, but did not automatically go to my Library. So tried to manually drag and drop files to my Library and they still won't go there. The songs will only play in my Purchase List and Recently Added. I turned off iTunes Match and Genius and still no luck.
I am trying to add new songs to my new iPhone and they will not go across from my itunes, i continue adding other songs and the number of 'files being updated' increases but never gets smaller
I have some movies I created a while back with iDVD.The finished file is a .mov file and I would like to now put this in iTunes so I can sync it with my iPhone and iPad to watch the movies I created.I can't seem to figure out how to get those files into iTunes so I can sync them with my devices and play them on my mobile devices.
I have an older MPB (mid-2009) and an new MBA (late-2010). Planning on getting a new MBA after Mountain Lion comes out sometime in July. That means moving files from the MPB and the MBA over to the new MBA at some point. In preparation of that I want to get all my iTunes files onto the current MBA. Trouble is that I have used both the MBP & MBA to import music or videos as well as purchases into iTunes on both.
Without totally screwing things up what is the best way to get iTunes files (purchased or imported) from one Mac to the other without losing or corrupting things? I already have a problem that there are movies on my iPhone4 that will not remove even though they are not checked when I sync. How do you join iTunes from 2 Mac's? Do you have to deauthorise one?
Info: MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.4), 256GB | 4GB RAM | late 2010
in the past I was able to add files to apps on the iPad (who offered that option) via the Apps tab on the device and then selecting "add files". The apps menu has disappeared from iTunes 12, so is there still a way for me to load documents into the app via iTunes? Or did Apple just break the ability to move files and out of apps on iOS?
