I never use "User Accounts" on my MacBook. So I don't know much about them.
If I delete one User Account, will it delete that user's libraries, such as their music, movies, documents, etc?
Also, will it delete the programs that were installed under that user's account, but are accessible by all users?
Over the years I have bought songs under different account IDs. They all show up and play when I am in iTunes or iPhone, but only newer ones will play over my Apple TV.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe AppleID of all my accounts (iTunes, ADC, Apple Dev Center, apple store) is my mobileme email (username@mac.com)
I would like to change this (using some other appleid to separate these accounts from mobileme) so that I don't need to renew my mobileme subscription. From Apple websites, I cannot do this, AppleID cannot be changed if it is a mobileme id.
How can I do? What will happend if my mobileme subscription finished? All accounts will be finished or what else?

View 2 Replies View Relatedi am the administrator account for my macbook pro, osx leopard. when a roommate moved out, i wanted to delete his standard login account. however, instead of figuring out how to do it the proper way, i accessed the devices/macintosh HD/users/ folder in Finder and simply deleted it. now, when the login screen appears, there are three options: my admin account, a guest account, and an account with no picture entitled "Other...". I can't log into this account, and it doesn't appear in the System Preferences/Accounts screen, so i can't delete or adjust it from there.
has anyone run into this problem before?? it's not a huge nuisance but it's a bit annoying to see it every time i want to log in.
I have a guest acc on leopard and I had parental control on it and earlier I saw the logs in parental control panel on system preferences I just wanna know how do u clear the logs? Where do I delete them? Can I delete them using the admin acc?

View 3 Replies View Relatedi'm having troubles deleting a test-account a set up a while ago. i can't seem to get rid of it, although i've tried to delete it several times on system prefs. i get the message saying alt the content in this user 'home'-filder will be lost, and moved to deleted users-folder.. i press ok, wait a couple of minutes and it seems like it is removing the user. but when the message disappears the user it still there. i've tried restart, and the user is still active..
whats wrong, or what am i doing wrong? the user's got admin rights by the way..

She was having mail issues (passwords etc) so rather then messing with all the random settings I decided to delete the account and then re-enter it so it auto-fills everything. Only problem was that when I hit the delete button it removed the account and all the stuff from the inbox etc but then popped up a messages saying something like "are you sure you want to do this as deleting everything will be lost". Something along those lines. I wasn't sure what it was talking about so I hit cancel to stop it.
Now it seems to be gripping onto that mail account half way. I can close the email program and reopen and then account shows up again in the list of accounts. If I remove it (no messages pop up) then it disappears and about 10 seconds later I get a popup message saying that the mail accounts password is wrong? Though there is no accounts listed and I've even deleted all the passwords from keychain etc. If I enter a password it does nothing (I know I have the right password). Then, if I close mail and reopen the account is listed in the preferences again automaticly? I keep deleting it but it keeps popping back in but with no emails etc and a bunch of password etc popups bugging me. I can't seem to ADD the account again either as it just comes up with an error I think because that account is halfway in the mail app somehow. Is there anyway to manually remove any trace of this account from the mail app or something so that I can re-add it fresh?

I need some help to walk through adding an admin account and then deleting it after a software install on my kid's mac. I can get into single user mode, but I need some explicit instructions to add an admin account (for the purposes of installing a keylogger) then deleting the account without affecting his computer. thanks for sending me a message if you can help me with some of the commands to do this. There are a lot of instructions on the commands, but I don't want to mess it up.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble deleting a user account from my iMac G5 PowerPC running OS 10.5. I have made a series of mistakes which now prevents me from being able to delete this account.
First, I tried to change the name (full name as well as short name and user folder path). Secondly, I deleted the user folder manually.
So, basically all files and folders associated with this account are gone, but the user name still shows up in the system pref window, but with the "-" button greyed out.
The account I want to delete is the one which was made when I installed the OS in the first place. I have a feeling this might be problematic.
For some reason my Mail has a mobileme account as the default and I dont even use mobileme, how can i remove it in it's entirety?

I have an Open Directory Master running on my 10.7.3 Server machine, and I created network account server entry in "Users & Groups -> Login Options" which is non-functional ("This server is not responding") using the loop back 127.0.0.1 and entering the diradmin credentials.Â
I have created another entry which is functional, and I can access my network accounts, but I cannot delete the original entry. The minus key is greyed out and I can't work out how to unbind.Â
