I have a playlist of 28 songs that are various file types. I would like to convert them to aiff. I went to the playlist and selected all, right clicked and selected Create aiff version. It made them but I have to search for each one and then put it in a new playlist.Â
Is there a way to make iTunes put them in one folder or a better way to gather them all to the new playlist then clicking on Music on the left and putting the title in the search box and dragging them one by one to the new playlist?Â
I was working with my brother import his cds into Itunes on his new Mac. I told him to import them as AAC files, but unfortunately he thought I said AIFF. He has imported his whole collection at CD quality, but now his computer is nearly full with his Itunes library. Is there a way to move the files to another hard drive, then create a new Itunes library, and have Itunes convert the AIFF files to AAC files when you drag and drop them into a new library? Or does he need to re-import his whole cd collection? The other option I thought of is to export as AAC from Itunes?

I have downloaded flac files and converted them to aiff files and burned them using itunes as an audio cd. How does itunes fit 3 gb onto a 700mb cdr? Am I losing quality? How does this work?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have ripped a Audio-DVD with 5.1/24bit/48kHz to FLAC some time ago. Now I want to import them into iTunes. So first I tried Max and XLD and converted them to Apple Lossless format. But iTunes just ignores them when I drag them over the library.Â
Then I thought, maybe the converters can't handle the extra channels. So I imported the files into Cubase and converted them to AIFF. Then the same procedure as before. This time, iTunes accepted 10 out of 14 tracks. Why the remaining tracks weren't imported stays a secret to me.
Now, since AIFF files aren't compressed, I tried to convert them to Apple Lossless from within iTunes. But this time it hits me with an unknown error -50.

I've been working on this powerpoint (2010 mac version) for days now, and all of a sudden, right before I'm about to submit it to my professor and class, the slideshow crashes. Non-stop. I have audio attached to every slide as aiff files, and the crash always comes when the slideshow goes from the first slide to the 2nd. Powerpoint simply freaks out.

I still have a great number of AIFF files in my music library.
I'd like to convert them to Apple Lossless, as it's the same sound quality at half the space.
I know you can create a copy of any file in another format, but it sounds quite complicated. First you have to create a copy, and then you need to delete the "original" AIFF file.
Can't I just convert an existing file without a copy, keeping also the play counts?
I've downloaded a ton of music from the itunes store as mp3 files but now I want to re-download them in AIFF format.

I regularly receive songs in WAV format. In the past, I have always converted them to AIFF to overcome tagging limitations with WAV. Up until recently, I converted songs from WAV to AIFF by right-clicking them in iTunes, then choosing "make AIFF file" (that's not the exact wording, but similar). Just tried to do so today and found that this option is now missing! Was this removed in the latest version of iTunes [I'm running 9.1.1 (12)]? Could it perhaps be restored by some command-line entry in Terminal?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Lacie external hard disk that was originally formatted for PCs. I have some files there, but more importantly, my iTunes library is saved directly on the Lacie (I have everything on apple lossless, so they are some big files). I will keep using this PC while connected to the Lacie hard disk to syncro my iPod.
The problem is that I bought a mac now and I wanted the Lacie hard disk to be able to transfer files from mac to pc and vice versa. I have already read that I would have to copy the files that are on the Lacie, reformat the Lacie and then paste the files back. My only doubt is that if I do this reformatting, will I have any problems using the iTunes library while connected to my pc and iPod?
I just ask that because every time I changed any iTunes library folder on the computer, the iTunes would say that the music file couldnt be found and ask me if I wanted to look for the file. I didnt want to reformat the Lacie to later find out that I would have to look for every single music file, because that would be nearly impossible. I dont know if I was able to make my question really clear
I have iTunes 10.6.1 running on MacOS 10.7.3 Because I was running out of harddrive space on my iMac (500GB), I had to move something off to my TimeCapsule. So I dragged my iTunes folder into the Data folder in the Time Capsule. (Time Capsule would not let me create any folders in the root directory so I had to use Data folder even though I thought that Data folder was reserved for the Time Machine.) My problem is that all my music files have an ! (meaning that iTunes can't locate the original file). Â
Current settings: iTunes Media folder location: /Volumes/Data/iTunes/iTunes Mediaunchecked "keep iTunes Media folder organized" I also tried moving the music folder with its many sub-folders to different parts of the Time Capsule. So now I can click on each song and tell the iTunes where to locate it. It will ask me whether I want to locate all the rest, to which I always answer "yes". But then it would tell me after half a minute that it can't locate any of the files.Â

Always something with iTunes. How do i rectify this? I don't want to click on each file. They are clearly located on my external drive. Nicely organized. These are CDs i own and imported.Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn iTunes I manage my music manually. Sometimes I need to change a song's file name because something was spelled incorrectly. To change a song's file name I rename it in Finder. iTunes is running the background. Now here's the catch: After renaming a file I check whether iTunes detected its new location (CMD+I for "Get Info"). Mostly iTunes DOES recognize the new file path, but sometimes it doesn't. What helps iTunes detecting the new location? I really can't see a pattern in iTunes' behavior.
View 11 Replies View RelatedAbout 10% of my iTunes files are still protected. I'd like to find them and put them in a special playlist but I haven't managed to find an efficient way of finding them all and listing them.

I had to restore my system due to the Trojan virus and seem to be up and running with a lot of info from these boards. The only problem I still have is not being able to restore my itunes to the latest play list. I keep getting the list I loaded in May of 2011 when I put this computer in service. Where I can find the list I had before dumping and reloading?

View 8 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I had to re-format my external hard drive so that it could be "recordable" within Pro Tools, which wasn't a major issue, I just had to move everything from my Lacie drive to another drive, do the format, and then throw it all back on. It took a little while but this also included moving my nearly 60gb itunes library. Now that it is on the newly formatted hard drive, itunes doesn't seem to be able to find the majority of the songs any more. I've tried changing the music folder and a few other things, and there is no way I'm going through and doing the "cant find music - click here to find it" palava. Is anyone aware of a way that you can "mass find" all of the music in any way other than starting the library again and adding all the music (I don't really want to lose all of my play counts and ratings if possible!)

My mac has slowed right down with "start up disc full" warning. If I "get info" on mac HD it says capacity 249.72 Gb used 249.55 Gb free 166.7Mb If I "get info" on all users I cannot find more than 80Gb used. I have run Omni Disc sweeper and Disk inventory X and both show only 80Gb of files. I have used terminal to show all hidden files and run disc sweeper and disk inventory again with the same result. I have run disc utility > verify disc permissions, repair disc permissions, and verify disc. I also ran repair disc from the snow leopard startup disc.
which is the best app so that one can find duplicate files and also to have the ability to see previews to be able to compare?

Is there an easy way of doing it? A program perhaps that takes every folder or file and arranges it from largest to smallest? Or something?
I'm incredibly new to Mac OS X (got my new iMac today) and was experimenting with changing the way the dock looks (replacing files in the Resources Folder) if someone with 10.6.2 would send me a copy of the Resources Folder under Mac HD > System > Library > Core Services > Right click on "Dock" and select "Show package Contents" > Contents > Resources.

Second, I can't find the quicktime files i've exported. It goes they the menus and shows a progress bar and even stops normally like it would when the file is finished. I've check everywhere I can think to check. When I try to export under the same file name a pop up says "file already exisits". So I try a differnt name and we repeat the process.
