I've been working on this powerpoint (2010 mac version) for days now, and all of a sudden, right before I'm about to submit it to my professor and class, the slideshow crashes. Non-stop. I have audio attached to every slide as aiff files, and the crash always comes when the slideshow goes from the first slide to the 2nd. Powerpoint simply freaks out.

I have downloaded flac files and converted them to aiff files and burned them using itunes as an audio cd. How does itunes fit 3 gb onto a 700mb cdr? Am I losing quality? How does this work?

I recorded in GarageBand and imported the files to iTunes and then into my presentation. The slideshow works on my computer, but once I try to play it on any other computer (both Mac and PC) the audio files are "unavailable" and don't play. What do I need to do so that the files can play?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was working with my brother import his cds into Itunes on his new Mac. I told him to import them as AAC files, but unfortunately he thought I said AIFF. He has imported his whole collection at CD quality, but now his computer is nearly full with his Itunes library. Is there a way to move the files to another hard drive, then create a new Itunes library, and have Itunes convert the AIFF files to AAC files when you drag and drop them into a new library? Or does he need to re-import his whole cd collection? The other option I thought of is to export as AAC from Itunes?

I have a playlist of 28 songs that are various file types. I would like to convert them to aiff. I went to the playlist and selected all, right clicked and selected Create aiff version. It made them but I have to search for each one and then put it in a new playlist.Â
Is there a way to make iTunes put them in one folder or a better way to gather them all to the new playlist then clicking on Music on the left and putting the title in the search box and dragging them one by one to the new playlist?Â
I have ripped a Audio-DVD with 5.1/24bit/48kHz to FLAC some time ago. Now I want to import them into iTunes. So first I tried Max and XLD and converted them to Apple Lossless format. But iTunes just ignores them when I drag them over the library.Â
Then I thought, maybe the converters can't handle the extra channels. So I imported the files into Cubase and converted them to AIFF. Then the same procedure as before. This time, iTunes accepted 10 out of 14 tracks. Why the remaining tracks weren't imported stays a secret to me.
Now, since AIFF files aren't compressed, I tried to convert them to Apple Lossless from within iTunes. But this time it hits me with an unknown error -50.

Can I do this using iMovie 08, or even another app from iLife 08?
For some reason, I can't get Logic Express 8 to output audio to my Mac's attached speakers. It outputs fine through my M-Audio interface, though, but I'd just like to listen without headphones.

1. SUID file " system/library/CoreS...as been modified and will not be repaired
2. SUID file " system/library/Private...as been modified and will not be repaired When I try and open an excel or PowerPoint file that already exists, a message pops up and says that "the file cannot be accessed".When I try and save a new file it says that several things could be wrong such as:I have installed and uninstalled so many times. I have called apple and they said its a Microsoft problem so they wouldn't help. I then called Microsoft and they wont help unless I purchase another copy. The copy I originally had got deleted during my reboot. I have no idea how to solve this problem. I need excel in order to do my schoolwork.
I have a ~31 MB PowerPoint talk for work. I updated it minimally and it opens in Slide Sorter view just fine and appears normal (ie, all slides show up appropriately). However, once open, I cannot save it, either immediately or after making additional changes. Every time I save it I get a dialog box that is defective: it shows the orange PowerPoint logo on the left, and the aqua blue action button on the right, but the rest of the box is blank. I presume the aqua blue button should say OK or something, but it has not text in it. There is no text in the remainder of the box anywhere. If I click the aqua blue button PowerPoint either crashes or the box goes away and nothing happens. If I try Save As PowerPoint always crashes. Weird. I have no idea what to do.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wife is in school and receives her lectures via powerpoint slides (.ppt). I think they are generated with a pre-2007 PC version of powerpoint. She cannot open this .ppt file with Office 2008 on leopard. Powerpoint there just says that the file was created with an older version of powerpoint and is no longer supported. Is it possible that Powerpoint no longer supports its own format?! Does anyone else have this problem? Are there ways around this? Does it seem ridiculous that we can't even open an older version of the file in a new program? I know there are programs to convert new files for older software versions, but not converting old files for newer software versions!

I looked everywhere and can't find some free software that does that. There are tons that have trial periods with lots of limitations (like it won't convert anything larger than a 5k size file) so I don't want those because I won't know if the thing works well unless I pay for it. I'm not opposed to paying for a converter IF I know it works awesome on a Mac.

My iTunes sidebar shows that I have two devices are attached when in reality no devices are attached. I delete them and every time I open iTunes, they show up again in my sidebar.Â

I'm sure most people suffer from this but here goes.
So I make a presentation on Mac Office powerpoint, everything is fine. I open it up at university on the PC, all is fine. I maybe change some text on a slide and save it again. Open the same file again on my Mac, and it won't open some silly error comes up saying trouble accessing file from mac HD.
Then luckily I have keynote, so I just open it in that and use that.
Point is why does this happen?? Whilst keynote is better, sometimes I have to edit things on a PC at work or uni and then it becomes a giant mess on my mac.
Is there a quick fix, or will I have to throw Mac Office into my growing pile of Microsoft related garbage.
I still have a great number of AIFF files in my music library.
I'd like to convert them to Apple Lossless, as it's the same sound quality at half the space.
I know you can create a copy of any file in another format, but it sounds quite complicated. First you have to create a copy, and then you need to delete the "original" AIFF file.
Can't I just convert an existing file without a copy, keeping also the play counts?

I regularly receive songs in WAV format. In the past, I have always converted them to AIFF to overcome tagging limitations with WAV. Up until recently, I converted songs from WAV to AIFF by right-clicking them in iTunes, then choosing "make AIFF file" (that's not the exact wording, but similar). Just tried to do so today and found that this option is now missing! Was this removed in the latest version of iTunes [I'm running 9.1.1 (12)]? Could it perhaps be restored by some command-line entry in Terminal?

For the past several months (and only since downloading Mavericks) Finder crashes about 50% of the time I try to name a file on the Desktop. I click the file, hit 'enter', and either right away or while trying to type the first letter, the rainbow spinning wheel comes up and I have to Relaunch Finder.

Relaunching Finder will usually cancel any changes made to the document name before it crashed, and will allow me to then name the file, but usually the next file I try to rename crashes and the process repeats.
Just upgraded from Mountain Lion to Mavericks 10.9.3 on a 2012 Mac Mini 4 core. When attempting to add an attachment to an email, both Mac Mail and Thunderbird start with the spinning beachball and never recover. Force Quit is the only option. Even after that, the Finder has strange screen artifacts left over from Mail (attach file dialog box) and Finder must be relaunched as well.Â
Dragging and dropping files works okay with Mac Mail. This option does not exist when using Thunderbird, so no workaround available for that App. Also, Mac Mail only gets stuck when attempting to attach files on the desktop. Files from other locations attach OK.Â
Already tried Repair Permissions, Repair Disk, Reinstalled Mavericks with no change. For now, I have gone back to Mountain Lion since this is a deal breaker, even though everything else seems to work ok (except for the occasional brief spinning beach ball).
Saving files crashes dreamweaver CS5 running 10.6.8...
