ITunes For Mac :: 11.2.2 (3) - Podcast Duplicating On IOS Devices On Every Sync
Jun 3, 2014
Since 11.2 and 11.2.2 came onto the scene my podcast adds another of each episode to my iDevices on every sync. Only the unwatched/unlistened to episodes. Â
Example. I have 30 unwatched podcast, I sync, I now have all 30 on my iphone. When I sync again. I still have 30 unwatched, but now my iDevice in the sidebar shows 60 podcast. Adds another 30 every sync. Â
Fortunately as best as I can tell, It is not physically duplicated the file or the title entry on the iDevice. I don't see my data bar graph at the bottom grow either. Â
iTunes Library is served from a 12TB unRaid server on 1Gb network. Worked fine until 11.2. Â
Phone 5 and 5s - 7.1.1
iPad Air - 7.1.1
Mac Mini 2.3 - i7 - 8GB - 10.9.3
MacBook Pro Late '13 - 2.4 i5 - 8GB - 10.9.3
MacBook Air Late '11 - 10.9.3
iTunes - 11.2.2 (3)
Ever since iTunes 7.7 and iPhone 2.0, podcasts aren't syncing properly. I have mine set so only those that's never been listened to before gets synced to the iPhone. Since the updates, this sync has been inconsistent. Sometimes, it behaves as expected, but other times, podcasts that I've listened to on the iPhone retains the blue dot on iTunes after a sync. Thus, the podcast is also labeled "new" again on the iPhone after the sync. Not sure if iTunes 7.7 or the iPhone 2.0 update caused this since they both came out around the same time. iTunes 7.7.1 is installed and still the same inconsistent behavior. Anyone with non touch iPods seeing this? Trying to figure out if it's an iPhone/touch issue or an iTunes issue.
I'm having a problem with iTunes trying to sync stuff that is no longer in my library. I can get it to stop warning me by clicking the "Don't warn me again" box, but I'd like to figure out the problem, so I can make it stop happening. Recently, when I updated my iPhone to 3.0, that resets all the warnings on the phone. Which is fine. But then, the first time I go to sync, I get this. Yes iTunes, I know you can't find that file. I don't even subscribe to that podcast AT ALL any more.
Now, I can simply check that box, and it will stop warning me about this. But, I'd like to figure out the root of the problem, so I can have this stop happening. It does this for 2-3 podcasts, and a small handful of songs. I would just like to know how to clean this crap out of my library, so it can stop thinking that stuff is there, when it really isn't.
basically the bug makes it where the playback position (where you are in a podcast) is not synced correctly between iTunes and your device (iPhone 4 in my case).
Scenario 1: Download a new podcast episode on your Mac/iTunes. Listen to 20 minutes. Sync to iPhone. When you listen to it on your iPhone, it starts at the beginning...not 20 minutes in like it should.
Scenario 2: Download a new podcast episode on your Mac/iTunes. Sync to iPhone. When you listen to it on your iPhone for the first time, it starts randomly somewhere in the middle...not at the start like it should.
This bug didn't exist with iTunes 9. The bug appeared in iTunes 10 and still exists as of version 10.1.1 that was released a couple of days ago.

Any ideas on how to get movement on this from Apple? Already reported it as a bug online as well as posted in the thread on the discussion forum. This bug is PAINFUL for heavy podcast listeners.
iOS 8.1.2 no longer allows me to sync any of my devices to iTunes 120.0.1 by WiFi, although wired sync still seems to work. I have tried all the usual tricks, such as restarting device, without success. How to restore wireless syncing?
So Apple sells ebooks and audio books through iTunes to people on their Macbooks. RIght? And when you go to sync these purchases to the Apple IOS devices you are told that you can not sync them to the Apple IOS device without erasing all of the rest of your music library on the same IOS device. Right?
I have to stop right here because thoughts of "class action", of feeling having been defruaded, of having been taken for a ride. If I had nown before I bought my iPhone 4s that I would have to purchase all kinds of third party help to make it work only seemingly correct I would have never bought one. If I knew that when Jobs died this was going to happen I would have sold my Macbook right then and there. Tsk Tsk Tsk Mr Cook. So is Apple going to drive 10 hours from the nearest Apple Store to me and hand me a new Macbook without all of the bugs? Will that make me happy? No.
New to Macs Can I sync my iPhone 5 and iPad with my mac without loosing these devices' contents..These two devices have been previously sync with a PC.
Since upgarding to itunes 11.2 When ever I plug my iphone in to sync or even have it on the same netwrok to auto sync via wifi. My itunes crashes and I have to force quit the application. I have tried reinstalling itunes but this hasnt worked. I get this script in my console  Â
I imported an album (11 songs) as I normally do and the import behaved as it was supposed to. About ten minutes later, I notice iTunes is duplicating songs that are already in my iTunes on its own! How do I prevent this from happening again and is there a way to delete the duplicates other than going through my library and deleting them one by one?Â
I caught it before it duplicated the entire library. It's bad enough that I now have to delete about 500 songs!
All of a sudden, iTunes is duplicating my movies. The duplicates are appearing in the same folder with the original, but with different cover art, and an "HD" symbol after the name. This is taking some serious hard drive space, which will run out before it gets very far. This is going to be a pain to fix, especially as I've chosen my cover art carefully, from old movie posters, etc. So, why is this happening, and how can I remedy it, aside from not using iTunes?
Info: Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7.4), external WD Element 2TB HDD
I have my iTunes folder on an external drive, and my iTunes library file was damaged. I need to import all of my media, but I don't want iTunes to make duplicates of everything.
Info: iMac (24-inch Early 2009), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
I plug in my devices in and receive power to them, but my computer won't recognize or sync them up. I've tried to use isync to find devices and it comes up blank. Both usb ports give power to devices, but I can't sync them up.
My purpose is to summarize what I can collect as information on the best way to keep macs and devices in sync.
First, I will focus on the main goal I want to achieve: keep iCal and Address Book in sync for a macbook and a mac mini. The sync can occur via internet (nice-to-have) or simply when they are on the same network (minimum requirement).
Later below are also separately listed info on files/folder sync.
The option I have found so far:
For Address Book and iCal:
1) Mac OS X native option Mac OS X Snow Leopard offers the possibility to keep iCal and Address Book in sync, via a Google Account or a Yahoo Account.
FREE requires Google account also keep Google Contacts and Calendar in sync But no contacts picture sync, limited phone number (3 or 4 per contact)
2) Mobile Me iCal, Address Book, ... + storage, web hosting, complete integration with Mac OS X... 79$ / year
3) Others...
Spanning Sync 3 http://spanningsync.com/ Almost as option 1) as it requires a Google Account.
BusySync
Fruux [url] Only between computers. But they don't need to be ON at the same time (using fruux cloud). FREE BETA also sync bookmarks and notes. 10.5 and upper.
For files/folder sync:
1) Mobile Me iDisk
2) Dropbox and analog, whether they are webbased on full applications Dropbox [url] Chronosync Amazon S3 Microsoft Live Mesh [url] [url] [url] [url]
3) Other solutions, more manual... [url] rSync Part of OS X already. You may need to update it depending on the task, but if you can figure it out, here it is: rSync
What am I using? I am now trying Fruux. Free and doing exactly what I needed: sync 2 macs for address book and calendar. Not less, and a little more. More after a few days of use!
I have an imac, iphone4, ipad & macbook air.Is there a way for me to easily sync these devices so that they share my music, pages and word documents, emails and calenders etc?
I have put contacts in my address book and it's not being sync to my other devices or the iCloud. I tried to uncheck the addressbook in icould on my mac and then rebooted and checked it again. Still won't sync.
I use iMessage on my iMac, iPhone and iPad. I am signed into iMessage using the same Apple ID on all three devices. I also have the same phone numbers and email addresses activated within iMessage on each device.Â
When I send or receive messages, iMessage syncs the messages among the three devices. All good so far. But if I delete a conversation on one device, the deletion does not sync to the other two devices. So I have to manually delete the conversation from the other two devices. How to sync conversations within iMessage across devices?Â
How do I sync a Google Calendar subscription on my iMac with iCloud Calendar and my associated iOS devices? I subscribe to my google calendar on my iMac (because my University forces me to use google calendar) but cannot see the events on my iCloud account, MacBook or iPhone4.
So... I used to use MobileMe, and now we have iCloud. :| Grrr.Â
I switched back to Mac Mail after using Gmail for a while... but I have like 10 email accounts, all their own IMAP setups. I just added them all to my desktop Mac last night.Â
I'd like them (and all mail rules, etc) to also show up on my iPhone and my iPad and my Mac Air. This used to be doable with MobileMe.
Is there any way to do this now? Best I can tell, unless I'm missing something, iCloud only syncs the iCloud mail account itself.Â
The icloud on my Mac Book Pro won't sync photos from my devices (iPhone and iPad) using photostream. The devices sync to each other just not the lap top. Everything is turned on in settings..iCloud and photostream.
Syncing calendars between my iMac and devices continues to fail horribly.Â
It really never has functioned well from the Mountain Lion days. With Mavericks, Calendar syncing is useless. Must be rocket science!Â
If the system doesn't double everything up, it gets appointment times incorrectly.Â
Seems like Apple has determined that the iPad is Grand Lord of all calendar data—not the iMac. You can delete the data file on the iPad with SyncMac but the data is not gone. It remains in the iPad permanently waiting to take over.Â
This morning I used SyncMac to delete the data on the iPad to rid it of incorrect appointment times. Syncing again did nothing to fix the issue. Appointment times are all different and totally incorrect in the iPad compared to the correct data in the iMac.Â
I give up on the application. Print a blank calendar, have a pencil ready, and maintain your data the old fashioned way.Â
It used to just work. Not anymore and especially since iCloud which I will not use. I have no interest in giving my data to a second party in a foreign country so that they can grant me permission to access it. My clients don't agree to this arrangement. Nor do I.
Ever since updating my MacBook Air to Yosemite and my iPhone 6 to iOS 8.0.2 (or maybe 8.1.1), my calendars no longer sync correctly across devices. Prior to the updates, any addition or change I made to the calendar on my iPhone would be added to the calendar on my Mac the next time I synced my phone. Now I have duplicate events on my phone, the calendar on my Mac no longer incorporates changes from the phone and I get a dialog box on the Mac 2-3 times an hour about calendar conflicts. No matter how many times I review the conflicts and choose which events/updates to save, the box keeps coming back. I've never had a persistent issue like this with any previous iOS or Mac OS updates and I can't figure out why it won't stop.
I'm trying to find a way to save an apparent podcast on to my iTunes so I can listen to it without streaming. See attached image (I'm trying to save the Elephant Guns mix).
I am having difficulty getting podcast artwork that appears in the podcast directory on the iTunes store to appear in iTunes after I've subscribed. For example, if I choose NBC's "Meet the Press (audio)", the directory shows a cover image for the podcast. However, when I subscribe, no cover art appears on my iTunes or my iPod Nano (latest generation). When I click on the podcat image and then select "Get Album Artwork" (either by ctrl+click on the mouse, or the "Advanced" menu), nothing happens. What might be causing this to happen, and what do I do? I am using iTunes 10.6.1 (7) on an iMac running Mac OS 10.6.8.
I would like to know if apple mail is supposed to sync both signatures and rules across devices.
I recently had to create 3 signatures on 3 separate devices and am now realizing that rules don't carry over from my iMac to my MBA or MBP.Â
if they're not supposed to sync (which makes absolutely no sense) hopefully apple will fix this in yosemite.Â
finally, i will say that, while being a huge apple fan (and would never switch to a pc), i've seen apple mail become one of those neglected softwares and have steadily gone on the decline in terms of features and consistency among devices that are supposed to communicate to one another.
