I have managed to transfer all of my music video and apps from my external hard drive onto my new macbook (replacement for my ibook). Is there any particular procedure I need to follow so as to ensure I do not lose any data. Obviously my new macbook will be where I am syncing from now on. As an aside will the sync transfer my bookmarks into safari?

View 5 Replies View RelatedYears ago, when I first had the iPhone and iTunes on my Mac, Safari bookmarks would always update from bookmarks on my Mac and reflect accordingly on the iPhone. I also see that bookmarks do not update on my iPad now either. How do I get back the behavior from the 'good old days' to make safari bookmarks update when I sync my iPad and iPhone through iTunes on the Mac? There must be some settings that have been changed, but I have not been able to search them out in settings.Â

Well I still can't get bookmarks to sync proper with Lion. I have three Mac Pros, two ipads and iMac 3.4 27inch and iPhone 4s. Every thing syncs on all devices ,,,,, All but the bookmarks between the computers. The ios devices sync fine, but no two computers will sync bookmarks. I have tried everything on the forums and a few more of my own, but to no avail!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing a very specific problem with my itunes, everytime I want to sync my itunes library with my ipod (2nd generation - 20GB), gives me an error saying something like I can not upload all the music because I have not enough free space on my ipod which is true, but I would like to transfer only the checked musics and itunes is not making any distinction between checked and non checked musics.
View 1 Replies View Relatedive googled everywhere for this type of process; whether it be an application or a bunch of scripts that would be able to do this, it didnt help me at all and/or i didnt understand it at all. is there a simple application that will allow me to plug in my usb drive and it will seamlessly sync with the "documents" and "pictures" folders, for example. basically, i want it to act like im syncing my iphone with my computer: how it automatically updates every time i plug in my iphone. also, i want the program to update the old files with newer, updated files, whether it was updated on my computer, or from another computer saved on the usb drive. basically (again), i want my usb flash drive to be exactly verbatim with the personalized selected folders on my macbook pro (with the older files updated with the newly modified files).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI decided to sort out and merge the bookmarks on the three computers in our house. MacBook on 10.5.7 and MacMini running the same. Third laptop is not yet done and I've left it switched off so far until I sort things. Sync is set to "Manual". What I have done so far is sync the Mac Mini with the iDisk. So as there were no Bookmarks synced on the iDisk before the two should be the same. When I did this I was asked if I wanted to "Merge" or "overwrite". I chose "Merge"
Then I merged the iDisk with the MacBook, giving me all the bookmarks in one place. Again I got the pop up asking whether I wanted to merge or overwrite. I have worked on the bookmark list on the Macbook and edited out most of the duplicates. when I then try to sync with iDisk there is no pop-up box. So it doesn't ask me whether I want to merge or overwrite. It assumes I want to do a merge as I did before. But I want to overwrite!! Where can I change/reset this? Doesn't seem to be in the Mobile Me Prefs.
I plug in my devices in and receive power to them, but my computer won't recognize or sync them up. I've tried to use isync to find devices and it comes up blank. Both usb ports give power to devices, but I can't sync them up.

My purpose is to summarize what I can collect as information on the best way to keep macs and devices in sync.
First, I will focus on the main goal I want to achieve: keep iCal and Address Book in sync for a macbook and a mac mini. The sync can occur via internet (nice-to-have) or simply when they are on the same network (minimum requirement).
Later below are also separately listed info on files/folder sync.
The option I have found so far:
For Address Book and iCal:
1) Mac OS X native option
Mac OS X Snow Leopard offers the possibility to keep iCal and Address Book in sync, via a Google Account or a Yahoo Account.
FREE requires Google account also keep Google Contacts and Calendar in sync But no contacts picture sync, limited phone number (3 or 4 per contact)
2) Mobile Me
iCal, Address Book, ...
+ storage, web hosting, complete integration with Mac OS X...
79$ / year
3) Others...
Spanning Sync 3

Almost as option 1) as it requires a Google Account.
BusySync
Fruux

I use iMessage on my iMac, iPhone and iPad. I am signed into iMessage using the same Apple ID on all three devices. I also have the same phone numbers and email addresses activated within iMessage on each device.Â
When I send or receive messages, iMessage syncs the messages among the three devices. All good so far. But if I delete a conversation on one device, the deletion does not sync to the other two devices. So I have to manually delete the conversation from the other two devices. How to sync conversations within iMessage across devices?Â

Since 11.2 and 11.2.2 came onto the scene my podcast adds another of each episode to my iDevices on every sync. Only the unwatched/unlistened to episodes. Â
Example. I have 30 unwatched podcast, I sync, I now have all 30 on my iphone. When I sync again. I still have 30 unwatched, but now my iDevice in the sidebar shows 60 podcast. Adds another 30 every sync. Â
Fortunately as best as I can tell, It is not physically duplicated the file or the title entry on the iDevice. I don't see my data bar graph at the bottom grow either. Â
iTunes Library is served from a 12TB unRaid server on 1Gb network. Worked fine until 11.2. Â

So... I used to use MobileMe, and now we have iCloud. :| Grrr.Â
I switched back to Mac Mail after using Gmail for a while... but I have like 10 email accounts, all their own IMAP setups. I just added them all to my desktop Mac last night.Â
I'd like them (and all mail rules, etc) to also show up on my iPhone and my iPad and my Mac Air. This used to be doable with MobileMe.
Is there any way to do this now? Best I can tell, unless I'm missing something, iCloud only syncs the iCloud mail account itself.Â
