I bought a new Retina Macbook & have over 10 years of photos that I DO NOT want to bring into my new computer.
I want to transfer them to an external storage drive (Lacie Rugged Thunderbolt).Â
Prior to Yosemite, I could go into iPhoto from the left column of finder window and transfer.
One of the crappiest things I don't like about New iPhoto is that it's so difficult to export the photos. It feels like Apple thinks they own them. Pulling my music off was much easier.
Finder no longer gives me the iPhoto option anymore. The PHOTOS Folder only shows photos that came in from a camera or other source.Â
Photo Stream can't do it as it's just a storage drive. My photos are set up to go from photo stream right into my Macbook so they have to be somewhere on my hard drive.Â

My iTunes library has apparently filled my entire iMac (according to the computer I have over 97 days' worth of music). I would like to know 1) how to properly save my iTunes library to an external hard drive and 2) how to use iTunes so that it uses the library on the external drive.

View 2 Replies View RelatedUltimate Objective - export a playlist to a USB stick to play in my truck radio.I would like the final product to be in the same format as an MP3 CD (i.e., with folders, etc).Current Status - I know I can drag the playlist to the USB and it will dump all of the files into one folder (ROOT).The problem is that my truck stereo only recognizes 100 songs per folder. So I get the first 100 songs and that is it.A way to do this - create MP3 CDs and then copy them to the USB stick. That is very painful due to the fact that I have over 6GB of music that I want to end up on my USB stick.
What I'm wondering is if there is any way to get iTunes to burn to a folder (instead of a CD). That way, I could just burn a series of folders on my local drive. Then I could just copy those to the USB stick. Something else that I thought of.Does anyone know of an app or script that will take a group of MP3 files and sort them into folders based on artist/album/whatever.

A few versions back you could export songs from the file menu. Now you can't. I know there is a "library -->burn to disc" menu item, but isn't there a simple way to get one song exported out in either MP3 or AAC format?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've reinstalled 10.5.6 and I am manually dragging over my important files from old system (also 10.5.6).
Both systems have iTunes 8.0.2 installed.
I'm trying to import my EQ settings in iTunes (that I created) but have no luck.
I've read elsewhere I need the .itl file in the iTunes folder, but iTunes 8 doesn't seem to offer one.
I have an iMovie project. I want to export it or do something to get it into iTunes. I know you could share it to iTunes but I don't want it to end up in movies. I want it in music.I don't know if I need it as a mp3 but I want it in iTunes as a video.

Is it possible to copy/export/burn a TV show from iTunes to an external media (DVD disk, memory stick, etc) such that it can be played on a different computer? I'm starting to think the answer is 'no', based on other discussions here, but thought I'd ask in case I'd missed something.

View 11 Replies View RelatedHopefully someone will have the answer as I have searched high and low on this one. I have moved ALL my iTunes content (music, videos etc) to the Shared Music folder on my new WD MyBook World Edition 2 (just in case that's relevant info) and everytime my Mac attempts to load iTunes I have to repeatedly direct it to the library.xml file in the Shared Music folder.Surely there's a proper solution for this? Anyone else out there had this experience and has figured it out.I've noticed that it does this only the first time I open iTunes up, any subsequent bootup within a session is fine, but any restart of my Macbook Pro and I have to repeat this.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo i've recently gotten in the uploading to YouTube craze with my Flip Mino HD but i'm not too happy at the way i've been doing this and am hoping there is an easier way.
As of late i've been importing what i film into iMovie. In iMovie i'll edit the video to my liking. In iMovie i'll "export" to the media browser so it'll show up in GarageBand. Then i'll open GarageBand and edit my film further, dealing with sound; adding music. After that i'll export it as a .MOV to my desktop. Then i'll open iMovie again and import that .MOV file and from there in iMovie will have it upload to YouTube in its original HD format.
move iTunes folders/library and all my music from the internal hard drive to an external one? I want to start using an external hard disk as my source of music for iTunes. I'm running tiger 10.4.11 still.

I just updated my iTunes but it appears it deleted my library. This sucks because I have spent HOURS upon HOURS sorting it, renaming crooked song titles, finding covers and all that stuff. I used time machine to back up my computer like 5 days ago, but I can't figure out how to use it. I wish I could just select that given day (when I made my last backup) and make it turn everything back to what it was back then. How do I do this exactly? I don't care at all if I have to go back to the old iTunes (obviously they will fix this eventually!) - I just want it to look like it did a few days ago.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIve just installed Windows 7 via Bootcamp on a MacBook. When I go into 'Computer' in Windows, I can see my Macintosh HD drive and most of its contents, some pics and other folders etc are all viewable and draggable into Windows. What im thinking now is, can I setup iTunes or even Media Player to see my iTunes library on the Mac side without actually copying it to Windows?
Ive been searching for the Library whilst in Windows but cant find it.
I need space on my computer - video files take up most space and I have a bunch of music videos in my iTunes library. My question is -Â
If I upgrade to iTunes Match - would that mean I can then delete files on my computer in my iTunes library and still access them later?
I transferred all my itunes library to an external hard drive.I had all my songs in itunes and then went to "preferences" and set itunes to look on my external hard drive for my itunes. Then I went to "library" and then "consolidate", and it moved all my library over to my external. I can verify that my songs are all there on my externalHowever, now, itunes won't play any songs of mine. I double click on the song in itunes and it just wont play. There's no error message, there's no exclamation point, it just won't play. Any idea what is goign on? Preferences still shows that my library is directing to the external

I'm running out of space on my harddrive and am wondering. Is there a way to move some of my library to an external harddrive? Like TV shows and movies that I don't need to access all the time. I don't want to delete anything. I don't want to carry around a harddrive all the time.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis upgrade sent out 5th/6th February 2010 has caused my family's iPods and my AppleTV to disconnect from the iTunes library and demand a return to factory settings for all units. I loved the Genius Recommendation Panel on iTunes 9 and found lots of new songs and artists when using itI cannot believe Apple removed it from iTunes 10 and replaced it with a social networking site with the awful title "Ping"
So I replaced iTunes 9 last night, only to find that it wouldn't accept my iTunes library. I managed to reload the songs, but I have lost all my playlists, star ratings, play counts, etc. Its all gone.
Before moving to a new Mac I backed up my old itunes music library.xml file and manually added all of my music files to itunes on my new mac.Â
Does anybody know a way of getting my old information such as ratings, number of plays etc from the old library into the new one?

I have a new-to-me MacBook (running Lion) and I just downloaded all my music into iTunes. I had been sync'd with an old PC laptop previously. If I choose to sync my iPhone (4S) with iTunes on the MacBook, will it delete my apps and data (as the warning in iTunes leads me to believe)? I do use iCloud backup on the iPhone, and I've got all kinds of apps installed (and arranged to my liking). What's the best way to have my music sync with the MacBook without having to reinstall my apps?Â

I had a crash on my HP laptop and had to re-install windows XP on it. I have also installed again Itunes on the laptop.
Question: Is there a way to transfer the contents of the many songs from Itunes Desktop (all from my own CD's) to the laptop?
I have a Macbook with about 5,000 songs on it, all of which are burned from actual hard copies of CDs that I own. Rather than re-burning each CD to my new Windows computer, I would like to see if there's a way to transfer all these songs from Mac to PC using an external hard drive.Â
The real question is how can I format my external hard drive to be recognized on both a Macbook running Snow Leopard and a PC running Windows 7?
