Mar 23, 2012Ok, a few months ago, I posted a problem concerning songs from my ipod that, when played in my car through the car's integrated cable, would suddenly stop playing, even though the song's title and counter were still showing on the dashboard screen. This happened with a 3 year old ipod. After taking the car into the dealer, they found no problem. Subsequently, when driving a loaner or rental, the same thing would happen when the ipod was hooked up with a Belkin cable. So, I bought a new ipod. Guess what? It still happened, AND in other cars. So then I bought a new car (not for this reason; it was just time!), and it still happened, BUT...now it's doing it when I have my iphone bluetoothed!! The songs playing are coming from my iphone, which is connected to the car through bluetooth. So, my thoughts are leaning toward something wrong with my songs, in itunes. This happens inconsistently, and not necessarily with the same songs.Â
I've already spoken to 2 different people at Apple, spending hours on the phone.

I copy "Classical Chillout" compilation album to itunes. 30 songs show up, each with their own (new) artist name, song name, and all within the album "Classical Chillout.
Instead of having:
SONG Adagio for Strings
ARTIST Samuel Barber
ALBUM Classical Chillout
I want to batch rename all songs so that the Album name becomes the Artist and each "Artist" name is inserted into the "Song" name

Dec 11, 2008I have a decent size music library(40+gig) on my late MB and i find that iTunes is slow to load when I open it and sometimes when im clicking around songs there is a half second pause before the song is highlighted and then starts to play. Since the program is pulling the info off the HD im thinking that if i got a higher capacity 7200 rpm drive that this would help (currently my stock 150gig only has 50gigs left) with this stutter or would upgrading to 4gig ram?

Apr 6, 2012I replaced an older lesser quality mp3 with a higher quality version by replacing the original file. I've done this hundreds of times without a problem. I'm using 10.6.1, and when I replaced a song in this manner yesterday, I am unable to click on the end of the timeline of the song. It will only advance to the :35 second mark left in the song. Fast forwarding through the song also stops at the same point. It refuses to advance beyond that :35 left mark except by letting it play normally. I know the new file advances fine in iTunes if I drag it into iTunes and create a duplicate version.Is there some metadata from the old file that is causing iTunes to think the new file ends early because it is a few megs larger? Can this be cleared by a method other than reimporing the song new? I'd like to keep the Date Added, Ratings, and Play count info.

I KNOW I've done similiar before (downloaded dirty version, wanted clean) and I was able to click some where on something and get a credit for the incorrect song. I can't find it again. Sep 10, 2010My itunes is not playing songs properly since I upgraded to itunes 10.
It played all songs fine before but since to upgrade the songs are jumping like they would if they were a scratched CD. The songs play fine coming from my ipod and my iphone. It's driving me crazy and I cant use my itunes anymore because of it.

OS X :: Changing Song Info Without ITunes?
Dec 7, 2009I'm sure this is a ridiculously easy thing to do, and that I'm just being exceptionally stupid, but I've not been able to figure it out, and Google is as unhelpful as ever.
As a new PC to Mac convert, occasionally I stumble on something in OS X that baffles the heck out of me, and inevitably discover that it's typical ex-Windows stupidity on my part, and I'm hoping this is just another example of that. I'm looking for a means of changing song information (track number, album, year, genre, &c), without having to use iTunes. I hate iTunes at the best of times, and really don't relish the thought of being forced to use it every time I want to switch two letters of a mislabelled album title or re-number a track (I should also point out, my iTunes library is taken from an external harddrive for the sole purpose of putting that music on my iPod (the only reason why I use iTunes), whereas the songs I want to relabel are on my MBP's harddrive for the purpose of listening to from the computer itself, and are currently not in my iTunes library in any form, nor do I wish to put them there).
In Windows, you could just pull up the file information and change track number, album, year, &c &c &c from within Explorer... but when I try to do the same in OS X by hitting "more info" in Finder, there's no option to change any of the details I'm after. Is there a simple way of doing this that I'm just blindly missing by sheer stupidity, or does song information have to be edited through iTunes or not at all?
