ITunes :: Transferring IPhone From PC To New Macbook?
Jun 10, 2012
I got a new iPhone 4s 6 months ago, and connected it to iTunes on my PC. However, now I have gotten a new macbook pro. I would like to sync my phone to my new computer. I took the time to add the contents of my library onto my new iTunes. However, I really don't want to lose contacts, notes, pictures, etc. from my iPhone.

I've noticed this since iTunes 10.6 where the album art on my music, iTunes purchased or imported, doesn't get transferred over to my iPhone 4S (5.0.1) nor my iPhone 4 (5.1) with "Convert higher bitrate songs to XXX kbps AAC" checked in iTunes.Â
I've tried transferring with Lion and Windows 7 under Bootcamp (both OS are using the latest iTunes 10.6.1) and both are doing the same thing.Â
Is this a bug that Apple is missing (anywhere to send bug reports)?

So I just bought my new macbook pro and I have already transferred all my music from my iphone onto the computer itself. However, throughout the day I have been dowloading music from the internet using a youtube converter site. They dowloaded onto the computer and are in my library. However, I have been trying all day to now transfer those new songs onto my iphone. Everytime I try to drag it onto the iphone it just doesnt do anything.

I am using Itunes Match but some of my library albums which show they are in the ICloud are not available on my Iphone. Itunes Match "matched" them okay (which I would expect as they include popular albums such as 'Oasis - Definitely Maybe') but when I go to my library via my Iphone they are not there (yet the rest of the Oasis albums are.)Â

I finally got my brand new MBP 13''. It is a great machine. As the title notes, this is my very first Mac, so I don't really know the innerworkings of them well.
I wanted to try and copy over my itunes music and stats from my PC. I wanted to try and keep all my playlists, ratings, playcounts, etc. as well as all my songs. I'm wondering if there is a best way to do this? Also, is there a good way to keep a library synced between the PC and Mac? Or will that be way too much work.
Also, I synced up my gmail to work the Mac mail program, only problem is that it put all my email from Gmail in the new folder. Every piece of mail that was archived in Gmail is now showing up in the new folder.
Lastly, is there any site or blog that highlights all the great things one can do with a Mac. I feel like I need a quick tutorial on the good free programs to get as well as little shortcuts that will save time.

Ok so I got my new MBA which I'm typing on right now and I love it (I need to update my sig...). I got my most important data over, but all I need are my address book contacts and iTunes playlists and song/movie/tv show ratings.
I copied my contacts from Application Support under Libraries. They are under Address Book in the folders "Metadata" and "Images". All the things in Metadata seem to be vCards, but when I double click one to open it, it just opens Address Book and nothing happens.
Also, when I transferred my iTunes stuff over, everything's perfect except I'm missing all my song and album ratings (488 albums and 4226 songs, all hand-rated). I'm also missing my playlists which are VERY important.
I have a backup of my whole hard drive from my MBP so I should be able to access these files, but does anyone know how or where? I copied over my whole music folder in Finder and I'm still missing my playlists and ratings

I'm trying to sync my iPod to my newly-acquired MacBook Pro. I find that, after following the support page Apple has on it [URL], I can't seem to drag the iTunes music into my iPod (the "Copy iTunes Folder to iPod step). This is on Vista. When I try to just skip that and plug in my iPod, it won't transfer the music, videos, apps, and all the other stuff.

Brand new convert to Mac here: After receiving an iPod Touch from my boss when he upgraded to an iPhone, I have fallen in love with the Mac hardware and OS. I just got a new macbook and would like to transfer my iTunes from my old PC laptop. I am also a neophyte to iTunes so forgive me if there is a very simplistic answer to this issue.
The physical music is located on my external drive connected to the PC with the iTunes original music locations pointed to it . My specific question is, if I backup iTunes, restore to the Mac, plug in the external drive to the Mac, will it work seamlessly? I'm not sure if the existing iTunes music locations will re-synch since the music locations on the laptop iTunes are mapped to the "G:" drive. If it won't work that way, what do you recommend as the best way to go about it? I want to make sure I don't waste as much time as when I initially set up my iTunes/iPod touch (simply stuck in "PC" mindset).

I currently host my iTunes library on an external HDD which I set up to use on my Mac Mini. I just successfully swapped in a WD Scorpio Blue 640GB HDD into my MBP A1211 and also fresh installed Snow Leopard so the laptop is clean and free of anything I don't want. Even ran Monolingual thanks to advice I read on here.
So basically since my MBP's HD is large enough to comfortably accommodate my iTunes library I'd like to copy it onto it's HD from my external.I did some searching but it was mostly how to transfer from PC to MAC with external blah blah. My situation seems easy enough since I already have my iTunes in an external...
I'd love to just drag it over to my BMP's HD but I want to do it right. Can someone give me the steps to get my iTunes into my MBP?
current iTunes already in external HD and being used by Mac Mini. need to transfer iTunes copy from external to MBP's HD. Want steps, thanks!

This will be my first mac. (Can't wait!) I consider myself pretty tech savvy, but when I transfer my iTunes library, can I go into iTunes, select all the songs, put them in a new folder, and transfer that folder to the new Mac? Will the Mac/iTunes automatically sort them and stuff? (My iTunes library is split into 3 different libraries. When opening iTunes, I have to hold down shift and double click and select my .xml to open up my iTunes.) Any other tips for transferring files over a network?

Using a external hard drive that backed-up the PC I've moved my iTunes library to the mac. However, I've not been able to bring over my playlists.

My wife and I have an iPhone each with our individual music collection on each. My music library is on my Macbook Air but my wife's is on an Acer laptop that has now broken so she is unable to add any new CD's she purchased to her library, I've tried logging into my Mac as a new user and using a different iTunes but it gives a message that all existing content will be wiped off the phone as it is a new library.Â

I had ITunes on Win XP, desktop. All my selections have been downloaded to my IPOD. Have now purchased new laptop but had problems transferring ITunes library from old computer to new so just recreated Library from scratch on new laptop by copying my CD's but did not have all CD's as some were borrowed. In other words, I now have songs on my IPOD (and on old desktop) that I was not able to reload onto the Laptop.
I want to make sure that when I plug my IPod (which now has all the songs on it from my desktop) into the laptop, I don't lose those that are not in my Laptop library. Do I have to upload into the laptop from the IPOD those which have not been duplicated? Or make CD's of the songs on the desktop that I couldn't load in, and upload them to the laptop?

I'm looking to buy a powerbook, and I'm wondering if there is some easy way to transfer all my existing music files, as well as my playlists, ratings, etc.. from my powermac (MDD) to my new machine. I'm guessing there must be some simple way to do it with an ethernet or firewire cable.
