OS X :: Transferring ITunes Stuff From Windows Vista To MacBook Pro 13"

Nov 5, 2009

I'm trying to sync my iPod to my newly-acquired MacBook Pro. I find that, after following the support page Apple has on it [URL], I can't seem to drag the iTunes music into my iPod (the "Copy iTunes Folder to iPod step). This is on Vista. When I try to just skip that and plug in my iPod, it won't transfer the music, videos, apps, and all the other stuff.

OS X :: Transferring Windows Stuff To Mac

May 8, 2010

I am planning on getting a Mac in a few weeks time as I am going to sell my old windows 7 PC and then install Windows 7 again on my mac via bootcamp. Obviously when i get my mac i can easily transfer all my files onto it but I would loose all my programs. My question is if I was to create an image file of the hard drive on my windows PC could i then use that and Restore it on my Mac, obviously in a separate partition? I have already found a program that i believe will be able to restore my Windows image file in that separate partition, which is winclone:

[URL]

I just wanted to know if my theory would actually work. Should I have any problems? I will also be using Macrium Reflect to make the image file: [URL] Also I am planning to get a macbook pro 13"

OS X :: Transferring Windows Vista OEM Partition

Oct 25, 2009

I am going to be getting the new iMac 27" Quad when it becomes available and I was curious as to whether or not I could migrate my Windows Vista OEM partition. I would hate to have to keep buying another copy of Windows every year everytime I upgrade my computer. Also, I would like to migrate my pro apps that I own such as Logic, FCE, Aperture without having to reinstall them, as Logic, for instance is HUGE! When I look at the Logic apps GET INFO for instance it says that the file is only 769mb in size when in reality the program is over 40GB in size. When you migrate that type of app does it search your old computer and bring all the necessary files, in this case, jam packs, etc that make up the 40gb or so in Logic?

OS X :: Transferring Stuff From Old Mac To New Mac

Oct 27, 2009

i finally did it and bought a new MBP...now is there an easy way to transfer my itunes, photos and movies to the new computer? The guy at the store sold me a firewire cable with an adapter so my old Mac (the "pixar" iMac from about 7 to 8 years ago) with its 400 firewire speed could then be connected to the MBP...but I am scared... I would like to keep everything on the old machine for now and just copy them over...

OS X :: Transferring Stuff From G5 To I7 Imac

Aug 21, 2010

my old g5 1.6ghz bit the dust and I was finally able to upgrade. The only stuff I really want to save is the itunes music I have on there. The question is, how do I get it over? The g5 is running 10.2.8. Feasibly couldn't I just transfer all the music onto a flash drive and put it on the imac that way? Oh one more things, I don't have a monitor for the g5 tower... could I use the imacs screen for my g5? And yeah how would I do that.

OS X :: Transferring ITunes Music From Windows To Mac?

Mar 31, 2010

The main problem I'm having is keeping my Ratings and Play Count.

Setup:

Have iTunes 9 running Windows 7 on a desktop, trying to transfer to 10.6.2 Snow Leopard on a MacBook Pro.

I've tried consolidating the library, then transferring my music files using an external HD. But still no luck with the ratings/playcount.

Is there a way to use my iPhone 3G to transfer the files?

In the end I do what my MacBook as my main computer, so I will want to be able to sync with my iPhone after all my files are transferred.

ITunes :: Fails To Launch In Windows Vista?

Dec 9, 2010

For some reason, iTunes 10.1 will not fully launch. When I bring up a list of the Task Manager processes, I can find the itunes.exe process- but the program doesn't ever run. I've tried a lot of methods to get this to work, including installing an earlier iTunes version, but when I tried to open the earlier iTunes, it wouldn't accept my iTunes library, stating that it was from a newer version of iTunes.

I've also tried a system restore, but the restore function could not be completed and now I am completely lost on what to do- including replacing the core audio toolbox.dll file Any suggestions?

OS X :: Transferring Files Over Ethernet From Leopard To Vista

Jul 14, 2009

I need to transfer several very large (20+ gig) files from my Leopard Macbook to a Vista Home Premium desktop. Due to the file size, I would like to use ethernet rather than WiFi. I can transfer files between my two mac laptops by just turning off airport and plugging an ethernet cable into both of them, they figure out what to do and I see the other computer in a finder window. Vista, however, isn't so easy. I have never done this before (I rarely use my vista PC), and I have no idea where to start.

Windows On Mac :: Vista Refuses To Install On MacBook

Apr 10, 2009

I have tried partitioning my drive and I set the partition to 32gb. Okay, that's done and everything went well. Then I put in Windows Vista Home Premium cd and clicked start installation. done! So it rebooted. I tried letting it load by itself and not touch anything, also tried pressing the option key and clicking windows. But both came out with the same result: a grey screen forever and ever. I even tried letting it remain like this for an hour, but still the grey screen of death. I know the vista cd works as I've tried using it in vmware fusion. But vmware fusion is too laggy as I only have 1 gb of ram. Also, I even tried reformatting it twice in case there was maybe something that hindered it from loading but no still greyness.

Is it bad for Macs to leave them on a long time when you're not using it?

My nephew once told me he puts his PC off when he goes to school for example, because it would be better for his pc.

Does this count for...
- My PowerBook, running on cable (not battery, whatever)?
- My (to buy) 24'' iMac?

Reason is I sometimes want to leave my stuff on to upload or download stuff...

I do have Windows Vista 64-bit Home Premium which I got for Christmas from a distant relative. I won't be playing any games at all or doing any major processing work. My main OS will still be Leopard. I am just going to run a few Windows app that don't have a similar counterpart on the mac. By the way this machine does have 802.11n. I just had to enable it. Since I have the 64-bit Windows Vista. Can my machine run it smoothly for the basic work I will be doing?

MacBook :: Bootcamp Windows Vista Ultimate Graphics?

Apr 10, 2009

I play Age of Empires iii on Mac OS X and it plays online perfectly with very little if any lag.

I installed winows vista ultimate (32 bit) and play Age of the Empires iii in windows. However, the game lags, usually when there is artillery or ships. Whenever I start the game, it displays the message --- you have a 32 mb video card, the game requires 64 mb to play -- attempt to run or cancel (i do not get this message in mac os x).

I have a 2.16 core duo, 2 gb ram and an intel GMA 950 -- VRAM 64 MB shared system memory video card. I do not understand why I get this message in Windows. Is windows not detecting the video card properly?
