The problem is if iTunes is running on one account and I try to launch it on the other, it gives an error saying it doesn't have write access. It needs to stay running on one for my appletv. Is there a way to start it and have all accounts have access to it as a single process? Run it as root?

Apr 15, 2012I work in an office that is all mac based and have mac computers at home. I have an apple ID and iTunes account for personal use where I purchase books and music and I have an office apple ID and iTunes account to share calendars with colleagues using iCloud and purchase work related apps like upgrades to operating systems, etc.
I have an iPhone that is set up with my personal apple ID so that my music is on my phone and so that the photo streaming is attached to personal photos, etc. Is there a way to sync my personal contacts with my contacts that are registered with my professional apple ID? Ideally, I would like to have my iOS devices syncing my calendar and contacts with my work apple ID and my music and photos with my personal ID.

ITunes For Mac :: Moving Media With Multiple User Libraries?
Jun 17, 2014I am running out of room for all my music, movies etc, so have purchased an external drive for all my media.
All files are currently under the "shared" portion of the hard drive. It is set up so that different users are accessing different files in their libraries (eg my husband has his music, I have mine), but none is accessing everything. We had it like this to make it easier to manage our individual iphones, ipads etc, without having tracks that we both use duplicated in the hard drive. And its been great.
My problem is that I now want to move all the media to an external drive, and everything I have read recommends doing this through the itunes library. I am concerned that only one persons stuff will be moved by doing it this way, leaving the other missing files. If I simply move the folder, will it work to just point each library to the new destination? Some things I have read indicate that this won't be successful and that itunes won't find the new files.
Also, a small(ish) thing, while I am at it I would be quite keen to implement the new file organisation system with Music, Movies etc all on the same level. But not sure when or how to go about that with this setup.
Am I best to set up a new user, and import ALL folders into itunes, then move it within that itunes? Or should just moving the folder and pointing each itunes to the new location work?

Feb 22, 2008we have a macbook pro running Leopard. My wife and I have separate user accounts on the single laptop and keep the music in one central Public folder (both or our iTunes are pointed to this public folder). For some reason, my wife is unable to make any changes to song info (album art, change genre, etc.). However, she can play the music, update her Nano, import music, etc. The only thing she can't do is make changes to the song info. This isn't an issue with my account because I am the primary user account on the computer. We are both set up as Admin and I have assigned Read/Write privileges to all files. Does anyone have any idea what the issue could be? Tech support/program specialist has no idea.

Sep 1, 2014My wife and I have separate user accounts on the same MacBook Pro so that we can both sync our phones to this computer. My account is the primary user account, and my iTunes library is stored in this account. My wife would like to put music on her iPhone so she can run, but I can't seem to access the music library thru her account. I know the files are all on the hard drive regardless, so I just need to know how I can make iTunes on my wife's account access the library that's there. I've tried the steps I could find on Apple's website, but I can't seem to make it work. I'm running the latest versions of everything - even tho the post says I'm running 10.9.1, I'm actually running 10.9.4

For example, my Macbook has two tv seasons of The Wire that does not appear on my PC iTunes. Also, there are a number of apps on my PC that I don't have on my Mac notebook. This is especially annoying as I sync my iPhone 4 most frequently with my desktop.

Jun 4, 2012We have one mac book, two iphones and an ipad and are having trouble syncing them all to the one computer.I have set up a different user account (with the itunes library shared across all users) for one iphone and ipad (who belong to the one person). However when we connect these devices it states that they have already been synced with an itunes account and will need to erase it to do so. They iphone was set up with an old computer and the new ipad through icloud. I have selected to manually manage the music (both with the old and new computer) but itunes keeps telling me it will have to erase the iphone/ipad to sync with this computer - all we really want to do is put music on the devices but definitely don't want to loose the contacts and all the other information.

To be clear, we have separate accounts and separate iTunes libraries within our respective accounts, each containing some movies.
I've read several threads that say "turn on sharing in iTunes" so I did that, but it isn't working. I can see the content in iTunes itself, but nothing is showing up in Front Row. Does anyone know A) if this is possible and B) how to do it?

Apr 17, 2012I have 3 mail accounts (POP), and very often I receive mail that has been sent to the wrong accountI have therefore implemented one rule that has multiple conditions (based on sender, or subject, etc) and basically instructs mail to move said message(s) to account #3 however after I set up the rule, selected my all my messages in acct #1 and ran the rule I noticed that some messages were sent 20 times (I kid you not) to acct #3. How can I isolate a rule so that it only applies to a specific account? Else said, how can I be sure that the rule does not trigger a giant feedback loop?

May 14, 2012My wife and I both have a .mac/.me account. She runs iphone 4s & ipad 2 whilst I run iphone 3gs, macbook and imac. All now run IOS5/Lion and I transferred last week from mobile me to icloud. However, with mobileme we used to share contacts and calendars. I've worked out how we can continue to see a 'joint' calendar' [by adding my account to her iphone for calendar only] but cannot seem to do the same in respect of shared contacts.
We both have our own contacts which must stay on our own devices but I had assumed that the sharing of mutual data that was submitted by either of us via any our devices would be easier via icloud. Instead it seems harder since icloud has to attach to one or other of our identities, unlike mobile me. Obviously I can go through Clare's contacts in icloud and manually delete each individual of my contacts, but how do I add my contacts that she wants also on an ongoing basis?

Annoying having to go through all 4 devices to "read" the emails.

Jun 23, 2012Just about set to migrate 4 remaining family accounts over. All 4 are currently set up under Mail on iPhone. Anything in particular to watch out for? Do the accounts migrate automatically or do I need to add them as new iCloud accounts rather than MobileMe ones?Also I've migrated one family account already - was going to add it to the iPhone but choosing iCloud account appeared to make it want to use that for Photostream etc by default and it wasn't clerar i could stop it - it is not the account I would want to use.
Presumably I can actually have 5 iCloud accounts in iOS mail and just choose one as the default for app/Photo cloud syncing?Wasted too much time on this - think I must have some OCD as I'm making copies of copies of copies of things just in case it all goes wrong.
