IMac :: Wireless Keyboard And Wired Mouse Sometimes Not Working?
Apr 11, 2010I've had my imac for over a year and a half now with no troubles. But, the last couple of weeks my wireless keyboard has not been working. A message pops up saying that the connection has been lost. Then, the wired mouse moves around....but won't select or highlight anything...the 'click' doesn't work. Then all of a sudden everything goes back to normal.

The big question is however, the small wireless or the fullsized wired apple keyboard?
Are therer any issues with the bluetooth connection? Like, does the MPB need to have booted completely before it is "active" or will it be active from the boot chime? (this could be usefull when needing to boot into bootcamp )

I also have an Airport Express and another Airport Extreme.
My computers work fine with the wireless. But the PS3 is very slow, and is 'G' only.
I was hoping to figure out a way to use one of my extra devices (the express or extreme) to connect to the 'n' network - and output a wired connection to the PS3 (and old xbox actually).

Jun 19, 2012For some reason, when I plug in a wired mouse to my iMac, and then plug in a wireless mouse, the acceleration of both are totally different. The acceleration curve for the wired mouse seems to be about the same as it would be on a Windows computer, while a wireless mouse has the typical annoying Mac acceleration curve that many are aware of, which is an increased acceleration—when moving the mouse slowly, the acceleration is low, and when moving it quickly, the acceleration is high. I noticed this years ago but only recently switched back from a wired to a wireless mouse after it finally died, and I decided to take the jump back to wireless mice since they are far more common than wired ones these days.

Jul 15, 2009My Internet has just been upgraded from 2MB/s to 10MB/s. To confirm the upgrade I have used [URL:...] to test my upload/download speeds with Firefox and Safari. I have 2 computers on my network which consists of a cable modem connected to a white airport base station with 128 bit WEP encryption in 802.11 b/g compatible mode. The 2 computers are a dual 2.8 ghz MacPro which is wired directly into the Airport base station by Ethernet and an iMac 1.83 Intel core 2 duo. The much faster MacPro only achieves a download speed of 5.5MB/s over its wired connection while the slower iMac achieves 9.8MB/s - very close to the advertised speed over its wireless connection. These are consistent speeds not one offs so I am wondering why the difference? The MacPro is my main machine so I'd like to have the best speed possible on that. What can I try?

May 4, 2010I have an additional question about the Airport Express. I am interested in buying one but don't want to commit until I get a few questions answered.
1. I own a D-link wired router and a d-link wireless router. I have been tempted to buy the express, hook it into my wired router and run wireless off of the apple. I want the express so I can run itunes on my stereo from anywhere in the house.
Would there be any advantages to me using the wireless router in conjunction with the airport express instead?2. I am interested in the DHCP comments from above. If I turn off DHCP on the airport express then any friends who come over to use the wireless internet will need to be personally configured. Could I just assign the Airport Express a static IP address on the wired router, keep a DHCP on on the express for my friends and turn off DHCP on the wired router?
3. I have a PS3. I don't want to slow my gaming speed down. I intend on plugging the PS3 into my existing router (wired or wireless router, I will have it wired though) Will daisy chaining the express off of the router slow down my PS3 connection when other users are not using it?

At any given time I may have all of Adobe CS plus Office and a few other apps running -- and a gazillion fonts. Went to the store and saw the new 24" iMac. How would a new iMac compare to my late '04 1.8DP G5? On that same note, how would a new MacBook Pro compare to the above?

IMac :: 24 2.66 Versus 2.93 / Gt130 Versus 4850
Aug 17, 2009Two short questions on which I really need an answer. This academic year, I'll be writing a lot of papers, but most specifically, I am forced to use SPSS (statistical software package for social sciences).
Will I really need the 2.93 over the 2.66 and notice the improvement?
Same goes for the gfx. I like full-hd 1080, I'll be in InDesign, and use Logic Pro. Will I need "slash" notice the 4850 over the gt130?
Also, are the "hang-ups" with the 4850 truly fixed and does it indeed run a lot hotter (inc. really that more noise) than the gt130?

Apr 4, 2009I've just bought a Mac mini to use as a media centre, and I picked up the Apple wireless keyboard and mouse while I was at it. It wasn't until I got home that I read the "requirements" section on the side of the mouse and keyboard boxes, where it states that an existing keyboard and mouse are needed for setup.
I have a USB mouse, but no keyboard (my other Mac is a MBP), and nowhere to borrow one from (all my friends have laptops).

Dec 13, 2010Last month, I upgraded to the new 21.5 inch IMac from an older IMac and I really have loved the cpu/gpu improvements. However, I have never liked the bluetooth keyboard - namely, the lack of easily accessible usb ports. Not having those two usb ports on the keyboard is equivalent to the old-style pc towers that had the usb ports only in the back. It just doesn't make sense. With the bluetooth keyboard, I found myself always reaching around to the back of the imac body. So I went back to the wired keyboard.

There doesn't seem to be a similar document for the Late 2006 iMac's. I'm just wondering if anybody knows the power consumption stats for the older iMac's (the 20" model in particular) - I'm interested to now how the newer models compare as I'll be buying one soon.

Nov 2, 2009I'm looking for a new monitor to go with my MBP, and I'm stuck trying to choose between the ones listed above.
The 2407WFP is a couple of years old now I guess, but it's the rev A04 version, which supposedly fixed the (few) problems with what was otherwise meant to be a great screen. It's an sPVA screen.
I've heard good reviews of the G2410, with its LED backlighting. It's still a TN panel and I hear so much bad stuff about them.
The 2209WA is an eIPS panel which I like the sound of, but it's smaller and lower resolution.
The F2380 is a cPVA panel, the image quality looks better but I've heard bad things about blacks on this panel.
Mac Mini :: New Mac Mini Ethernet Versus Wireless
Apr 1, 2009it seems loading webpages and downloading a lot of files at the same time, I thought the ethernet would be the fastest but its not.
This is very strange and my wireless on the mini is so much faster in loading webpages (no more inbetween stops) and its just overall faster.
It seems like using ethernet slowed down my mini like it was doing some tedious work to use the mini's ethernet capabilities or something.
Anyone else experiencing this? I've also tweaked with a lot of settings under ethernet, got the right ip address for it with the right port as well.

I'm thinking of returning my iMac for the refund and wait til new iMac comes with USB 3.0 ports (if it is a lot faster than firewire 800) and of course wait til Apple has eliminated all current problems for this iMac.

Jan 5, 2011I'm pretty satisfied with the Marware cover, although it can be a little frustrating when typing quickly..I'm wondering if I should go back, return the Marware cover and pick up the iSkin.
So, for those of you that have any of these in comparing..which do you think is the best?
And yes, I did search and am aware threads like this exist..but I couldn't find any comparing all three, only iSkin vs. Moshi.
