IMac :: Windows Aero Not Working In Boot Camp-2009 IMac GT120

Mar 28, 2009

I think it worked at one point, but sometime around the point when I set up Fusion with the partition, Windows Aero turned off and is no longer an option in the display settings. I installed this driver with the modded INF to see if it would do anything, but Aero is still not an option. I also have issues playing some games in Fusion, while they work fine in Boot Camp.

Mac Pro :: Won't Work With 5870 For Boot Camp, GT120 For OSX

Apr 8, 2010

Finally got my Sapphire 5870 Vapor-X hooked up to my 2009 MP... and been trying to get it set up so I don't have to pull the old GT120 GPU out of the PCIe slot every time I want to boot up in Windows Vista x64 on the 5870. The GT120 still boots up beautifully to OSX with the 5870 in, but I can't seem to get the 5870 as default on WinVista64. My guess is it has something to do with the EFI, as I get the gray "pre-apple" screen when I boot with the GT120, but not with the 5870. The 5870 only starts to send out a signal once the Windows loading screen shows up.

I'm trying to completely (or at least effectively) disable the GT120 in Boot Camp/Vista x64.
Is it even possible without a BIOS?
I've already tried disabling the GT120 "Display Adapter" under Device Manager.

Windows On Mac :: Boot Camp - Cannot Use IMAC

Jul 14, 2007

i am new to these forums, i have recently purchaced a imac and i previously installed parralells on it which worked fine other than the fact i could not play games on it. I was told to install bootcamp to overcome this issue, however when i downloaded bootcamp and proceeded with the install at the windows stage of the process (the dos looking blue screen where you choose the partition) the partition bootcamp created for me did not show up, therefore i cancelled the windows setup but when the computer re booted it is stuck on a grey screen like when you turn it on, you cannot boot from the OS X cd's which came with the computer you cannot log in on safemode you pretty much can't do anything. I have backed up all important things prior to doing this but how would you format the computer if its not responding to the command to boot from the CD?

Windows On Mac :: IMac Crashing With XP In Boot Camp

Dec 21, 2008

I'm having a problem with my new intel iMac, 2.8GHz. Whenever I play games in XP through Boot Camp, especially Sim City 4, my mac crashes with the audio looping over and over. I have to hold the power button to restart my mac. I've been searching for solutions, but haven't found any definitive answers. I recently updated the Realtek Audio drivers, but that didn't help. Could there be heat issues when playing games on the windows side that causes this?

IMac :: Unable To Fix Boot Camp / Can't Install Windows

May 1, 2010

I own every piece of software and hardware from Apple there is and I cannot understand that it seems that everything is about the iPad and iPhone right now. I have been having these issues since I got my 27" iMac. I can install Windows 7 just fine on my MacBook Pro and my previous 24" iMac.

Ever since I got the 27" iMac I get a black screen when installing Windows. I have found some posts that have a way around it, which seemed to have worked but now I am getting the blue screen of death. Doesn't matter if Windows 7 is supported by Apple or not but Boot Camp is and it should be corrected.

There is no excuse that after 6 months this issue has still to be addressed, all Apple talks about now is iPad and iPhone, I am sick of it.
BTW I own an iPad and I don't see the big fuss about it, I bought it mainly to read books and watch Netflix on the go.

I launched the Boot Camp Assistant 2.0 on my iMac OS X v10.5. I was hoping to install Windows XP Professional with Built-in Service Pack 3. However, when I tried to partition the disk (32 GB on Windows), a message came up, saying "The disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot be moved." Windows On Mac :: PC Game On Boot Camp Not Working?

Apr 8, 2009

Recently I bought Europa Universalis III for Windows, to play on my MacBook. I have partitioned my hard drive for Windows XP. My specs are: 2,4 GHz, 2GB RAM, Intel GMA X3100 graphics card.

The problem is that when the intro has started, it is choppy. About halfway in the intro it just crashes out to desktop. I am way above game requirements, so why does the game not start properly?

Or more generally, do the requirements change on the PC version, compared to the Mac version?

Windows On Mac :: Dual Monitor Not Working In XP (boot Camp)

Sep 14, 2006

By using boot camp, I finally managed to install XP on my Macbook Pro. I can extend the monitor but the problem is that the extended monitor is in Black&WHite and totally jagged/off centered. I tested the adater and the cable with other machine and they work fine, so definitely issue is not the cable and the adapter. I really need to use Dual monitor for some software that I use on XP, so this is really really important to me.... My MacbookPro is 2.16ghz with 2GB of RAM, and the video card is ATI Radeon X1600. Maybe I need to install different driver for the card? If anyone has done the same please please let me know exactly how you did it

Windows On Mac :: Apple Drivers Not Working In Leopard / Boot Camp 2.0 On MBP

Nov 2, 2007

I got a Windows XP partition working on my MBP under Tiger and Boot Camp (Beta), but the Apple drivers for Keyboard, trackpad, IR and bluetooth did not work. The built-in keyboard and trackpad worked with default Windows drivers, but no Mac-specific key functionality (like brightness, volume, etc). I was hoping Boot Camp 2.0 in Leopard would have better drivers, but they still didn't work. I don't know if this is a MBP-specific problem or not.

Windows On Mac :: Boot Camp 3.2 Update Uninstalls Boot Camp On 2006?

Nov 21, 2010

In retrospect, I should have ignored it when Apple Software Update told me about the Boot Camp 3.2 upgrade for my 2006 Mac Pro running x64 Win 7 ultimate. When I ran it, it overwrote my blue tooth driver and my keyboard stopped working. Thanks for the folks at Mac Rumors forums, I was able to go through the procedure to get it working again, and I also had to update the video driver (again) from ATI for my 3800.

So then I decide to reboot into MacOS and discover that my icon for selecting the boot disk was gone, not to mention any directory or programs in the start menu. This happen to anyone else? Do I have to downgrade to 3.1 or does anyone have a recommendation to get 3.2 working?

Mac Pro :: 2009 Mac Pro And Boot Camp XP Sound Driver

Apr 6, 2009

Hi Folks. Minor problem with the new system...

Here's the situ:

32Gb Boot Camp partition created and installed XP SP2 from original disc.

Inserted Mac Pro DVD to install the driver set (which was Boot Camp 2.1)

Everything working correctly, except the sound - which comes out both the Mac Pro internal speaker and the LEFT channel of my external amplifier.Everything working fine through Mac OS X as expected.

In Windows, I can change the audio out device from Realtek Audio out to the USB audio (which is the Apple Cinema Display speakers) but this is far from ideal for games, which is the only reason I'm installing XP. I have installed XPSP3 since and found a more up to date Realtek HD audio driver for XP, but no change.

Has anyone experienced this? I may try to install XP again, install XPSP3, then install all the drivers manually as required to see if that changes anything.

IMac :: 2.93/GT120 Versus 3.06/GT130

Feb 9, 2010

I am very new to the entire Apple/Mac world (except for an iPhone) and it's time to get a new desktop, and I will be switching from the PC world. That being said, I have followed the various posts related to some of the technical issues there have been with the new generation of iMac's. I will be doing some limited game play, as well as limited photo editing, and some movie editing/making (expecting a baby boy in late May).

I am seriously looking at a couple of new 24" iMacs from an online vendor and there is a $100 difference in the 2.93 with the 640G hd and the GT120 and the 3.06 with 1TB and GT130. Would either of these be a good choice, or is there likely to be an upgrade to the processors in the near future to the current line of iMacs, possibly resulting in a price drop? Again I am new to the Apple way of doing things, so I'm not looking for a difinitive answer to the upgrade question, just an opinion based on your experiences.

OS X :: Imac Boot Camp - Gets Stuck At Screen

Sep 23, 2010

I recently upgraded my Imac Harddrive from a standard 320 GB to a 1.5 TB Segate Barracuda 7200 Rpm 3GBS. Previously I had a boot camp partition for windows 7 ultimate. When I put in the new harddrive I decided to start fresh and do clean installs. Now when I try and install Windows 7 it goes fine until the last restart (4 total including initial restart). Then it just gets stuck at the screen where it says "Push any Key to Boot from CD or DVD". It will stay like that for a few seconds then the disk will stop spinning. So my question is now what do I do? I have to have windows for work purposes and this is driving me insane.

OS X :: IMac Boot Camp Gray Screen

Jun 18, 2009

I've googled this and looked here, and while there are many similar stories none are exactly the same as mine so I thought I'd post here. So, I was going to install the Windows 7 RC on a 2006 iMac intel Core Duo, which has a dead optical drive, so I was planning on using an external like I do for everything on this machine. After the restart to install Windows, I got a folder with a question mark, and figured that the iMac couldn't do the installation from an external drive but since it was looking for a disk got confused. I then hit the power button thinking that I'd just boot back into OS X until I found a solution, but when I hit the power again I got not even an inquisitive folder. Just a grey screen. I tried key combinations but nothing even seemed to get recognized. For example, the PRAM re-set combination did not get to a second chime, just the one chime and the grey screen. Command C did make the external drive spin (with an OS X disk in it) but nothing other then that. And Command D with the original install disk in did spin as well, but I got no further then that chime and grey screen I got every time. I don't expect miracles of course, and I want to know how to fix this. This machine is out of warrantee, and if it needs an actual hardware repair I'd rather find out what it needs and do it myself then have someone else do it. I know I can, and it is cheaper that way. And of course if there is a simple software fix I'd much prefer that.

IMac :: Light Vertical Wavy Floating Lines With Boot Camp?

Nov 5, 2008

I have a 20'' iMac with a 2.4GHz Core 2 and an HD2600XT.

There are light vertical wavy floating lines visible on the screen when running Windows XP. They are more clearly seen when you look the screen at an angle, from down below you look upwards to the screen. The floating lines can be precisely seen on grey backgrounds. These lines are not noticable much, but when you closely look with grey backgrounds, they are visible.

The problem is very strange because I've tried updating the drivers to my HD2600XT, and no luck at all.

I'm not able to determine wether the problem is hardware of software related, due to the problem not existing in Mac OS X.

IMac :: Strange I5 - Reinstall Snow Leopard - Utilize Boot Camp

Dec 16, 2009

I had a 2008 24 inch imac (3.06ghz C2D) and had some issues with it. First the hard drive failed, upon bringing it into the Apple store, they told me that they replaced the hard drive and screen (due to dust under it), however, this was not the case. What they had actually done is replace the entire unit and gave me a refurb which was previously registered to someone else (as evidenced by the registration info). A few months later, I had another issue, this time the logic board had failed and I once again had to lug this 20 pound beast through the largest mall in the city in order to get it to the Apple store (for the second time). I politely explained my discontent with this whole process, they did not inform me that the unit was a refurb and now it had failed yet again. Much to my surprise they offered me a replacement in the form of the i5 with a 1tb drive, 4 gigs of ram, the works. Now here is the problem: I was not given any of the included dvds as they do a "like-for-like" swap only. This is now an issue because I can not install Snow Leopard from the retail dvd, nor can I install Leopard from my previous iMac disks. In addition to this, I do not have the correct drivers for a boot camp install. Thus I am stuck if I ever need to reinstall Snow Leopard or if I need to utilize boot camp (which I do).
