View 1 RepliesI have two early 2008 Mac Pro 8-core computers, both running Leopard 10.5.8. The backup computer has a system hard drive that is an exact clone of the primary computer. They both burn data or video dvds fine using their internal drives. I just got an external USB Samsung bluray burner. It burns dvds and blurays (data or video) fine on the backup computer using Toast 10, or the finder burn function for dvds). But the external usb Samsung will not burn either dvds or blurays (neither date or video) on my primary computer. With blurays it just stops, and with dvds it gives some sort of error message. Since both computers have exact same system drives.Â

I have a white MacBook and want to burn something to a DVD but it is too big. I have an external DVD burner (LG GSA-E60L 20x DVDRW DL USB 2.0 External Drive) that does dual layer burning but am not sure how to use it on my mac. Can I just plug it in and use Toast Titanium to burn?

I was told to download a free software called "Handbrake", but I cannot find the free download for the version that is compatible with my 10.5.8 Mac OS X. Â
Is there a way to import and burn the DVDs without downloading software? Â

My dvd drive is not working. Would i be able to buy & use an external burner? I have a G5 using Snow leopard.

My new DVD burner will play CDs and DVDs and burn CDs, but will not burn DVDs through the finder. Will getting TOAST definitely enable me to burn DVDs? I don't really need it otherwise and I would rather not buy it unless it will definitely enable me to burn DVDs.
This is my burner:

I want to burn a DVD from a video I have on my hard drive. I want it to play on DVD players as well as my iMac. But what I don't want is the smarmy "Themes" iDVD insist there be on the result. IS there a way I can do this without the Themes or will I have to use a different burner? Some videos I have are .avi, DVIX, .wmv, etc. I'm sure that the starting format has nothing to do with my problem, but one never knows. I'm running OSX 10.6.2 and am really happy with it. Although, I haven't see any difference when running it in 64-bit mode. But maybe if I were using more 64-bit software?

I'm new to using the Mac. I currently have the Macbook Pro as well as the 24" iMac. I have been trying and trying to burn some CDs and well as DVDs but have no idea how to do it. Could someone lead me to a link or give me directions on how to do it please? I usually use Nero on my PC, but would hate to go back n forth for this operation. Also, I rip alot of my DVDs as a back up as well as to watch them on my HD player. Normally I would use DVD Shrink on my PC. Am I able to do the same on Mac or do I need an additional software?
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo, yesterday I went to burn an audio cd in itunes. When I clicked burn I recieve a message that stated "Disc Burner or Software not found." I then went to About this mac in the toolbar and click "Disc Burning" and it states that there is no burning device found. Help would be appreciated, here are my specs
Mac mini C2D 1.6Ghz
2Gb Ram
OSX 10.4.11
I know its there(Combo CD burner/DVD reader drive.)
The other prob is that there is a disc stuck in the drive. I have tried all the various methods to eject the disc to no avail including rebooting and holding Cmd-Opt-O-F then typing eject cd but alas I "have no cd drive"
I have looked through previous posts about something called firmware causing problems with a (I am assuming) later version of the DVD writer but can't find anything specific to my one.
Basically my DVD will no longer burn phots or music to disk. I have tried different disks but with no luck , all I get is a message along the lines of the burner is not calibrated.
The computer is a iMac PowerPC G5 running OS X 10.4.11 and the firmware listed for the burner is FA0G.
I can't burn anything...I insert the DVD and choose "write from video_TS folder " or something(i can't remember it correctly).
So,when all of this happens and the window minimize i get an error:
The drive reported an error:
Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR
Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03
What am i doing wrong? The DVD says: DVD +R for DATA 4,7GB.This is not the first time i write a DVD but when i bought those blank DVDs from that guy i can't write anything.
I just bought a DVD program that has 20 DVDs and I want to burn them so I can watch em in my iPod Touch while on the go. What free software can I use to do this
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a G5 PowerMac and it has a SuperDrive. I can still watch DVDs but I cannot burn them. When I put in a blank it just spits them out. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but my iDVD is not compatable with the version of OSX I am running. I can't even burn music onto a DVD from itunes. CDs work fine though.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSeveral years back I tried burning DVDs using the internal DVD drive on my iBook, and what happened is that everytime I burned files to the DVDs, I couldn't go back and add more files. So I was only able to save files one time, then the DVD was no longer usable for burning files. I know there is a setting that will allow you to continue saving a few files at a time. How exactly do I do that?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was trying to burn a few MP3 for a friend of mine today outside of iTunes (ripped from flv). I threw in a CD-R and was prompted to choose what to do. Because it was a simple burn, I was going to use finder. For some reason, I can't. This is the window that pops up when I try to choose "Open with Finder" Code: The operation cant be completed because you dont have the necessary permission. Not sure whats up with that seeing as I am admin on my MBP. I have repaired permissions and that didn't work. Weird still, I can burn in iTunes and Toast. Anyone have any ideas of what is going on?

My G4 12" PowerBook will not burn DVDs with the newer 8x or faster DVDs.
It has the 2x burner in it and I have't been able to burn DVDs since I ran out of 2x disk some time ago. (I can't find any 2x disk around here any more.)
I've been burning DVDs and I've noticed Toast needs to encode the movie before it burns it. What exactly is encoding? Is it converting? Also, what format does Toast use to burn DVDs?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a TV series as a package.
It is .AVI, and I had to use Perian to view it in QuitckTime.. no biggie.
However when I went to burn it to a CD I gave BURN a shot. It had to convert the files in order to be able to create a DVD player compatible DVD.
This process was taking forever...... Is this normal with any program?
What about using iDVD or other DVD making software?? Would it be any quicker at converting?
Open to suggestions....

I'm getting the error code 0x8002006E when trying to burn DVDs. I am able to burn CDs and the drive reads data and audio CDs and data and video DVDs.
I've tried the two fixes suggested on Apple forums without success. The first was to trash the com.apple.finder.plist and the second involved removing the battery, hold the power button down, and pressing alt, command, R, P and the power button down until I heard the two chimes. Neither worked.
I've used Verbatim DVD+R and TDK DVD-R disks without success. I've used the Verbatim disks for months with no problems.
