Hardware :: Magic Mouse 2 Finger Swipe Gesture No Longer Actually Functions?

Nov 3, 2009

I've had my Magic Mouse since last thursday (29th Oct) and i've noticed the 2 finger swipe gesture no longer actually functions. I'm trying it in Safari (with history available to swipe through) and its definately enabled in the system preferences.

Instead of doing the swipe gesture it now just scrolls left and right. Its also not a case of positioning my fingers wrong as it used to work around 2 days ago and now it definitely no longer works.

I'm going to re-pair it a few times and replace the batteries but if it doesnt magically come back I will be replacing it.Just curious if anyone else who has had their magic mouse for this long has lost this gesture too?

Hardware :: Magic Mouse To Switch Tabs With Two Finger Swipe In Chrome?

Jan 16, 2010

Magic Mouse has this ballyhooed two-finger swipe feature that (in any browser, apparently - I use Chrome) lets you go back and forth on a page. That's great, except I rarely need to go back or forth; switching tabs, however, is way more useful. Is there a way to set up the mouse to do that instead?

Applications :: Three Finger Swipe Gesture In Firefox

I just went to the mozilla site and left some feedback for firefox requesting the 3 finger swipe gesture to be implemented, like in safari. Although, my single request probably wont do much, maybe others have and I'm contributing. Anyway, i thought i should post the link here, and anyone that could be bothered could fill it out as well.. the more people we get to send it, the more likely they developers will implement it

Hardware :: Apple's New Magic Trackpad Clicks, Has Unique Three-finger Gesture?

Jul 27, 2010

Apple's Magic Trackpad acts just like a bigger version of the multi-touch trackpads found on the company's notebook computers, though it does include one new, unique gesture for moving windows. The customizable device can have certain features enabled or disabled through software, including options such as tap-to-click. Like the trackpad on a current MacBook or MacBook Pro, the entire surface can be pushed for a physical click as well.According to Engadget, the hardware also comes with one exclusive new feature: a three-finger gesture that allows users to drag windows around quickly.

Much like can already be done on a Mac desktop via the Magic Mouse, the Magic Trackpad offers standard multi-touch gestures, including two-finger scrolling, pinch to zoom, rotate, and three-finger swiping. Users can also invoke Expose or switch between applications by using four fingers, all capabilities previously found on the company's notebook multi-touch trackpads. In the Magic Trackpad's software settings, users can enable or disable tap to click, dragging, drag lock, a localized secondary click (such as tapping in a specific corner of the trackpad). Other features include inertia-based scrolling, screen zoom, pinch to open and close, and the aforementioned new three-finger dragging."It's made with smooth, wear-resistant glass that feels great to the touch," Apple said. "And it?s nearly 80 percent larger than the built-in trackpad on the MacBook Pro, giving you plenty of room to perform gestures. Because the entire surface of Magic Trackpad is a button, you can click on objects just as you would using a traditional mouse. And Magic Trackpad sits at the same height and angle as the Apple Wireless Keyboard, so you can go from trackpad to keyboard in one seamless motion."

The $69 wireless device works with any Bluetooth-enabled Mac, and can be connected up to 33 feet away. The device also detects periods of inactivity to conserve battery life, and has a dedicated on-off switch. Apple has said that the device will operate for "months at a time" without the need to replace its AA batteries.

In addition to two AA batteries -- which are included, and which Apple now sells in a rechargeable form -- the new Magic Trackpad requires users to have a Bluetooth-enabled Mac running Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and the latest software update.

Hardware :: Magic Mouse Already Broken (Swipe To Navigate)?

Nov 22, 2009

My Magic Mouse has suddenly stopped allowing the swipe to navigate feature despite being enabled. I can't believe that it's broken after only a couple of weeks of ownership, yet on the other hand I've never owned an expensive mouse that hasn't been trouble.

Anyway, all of the other features seem to be working and the mouse hasn't had a 'hard life' at all. Does anyone have any possible fixes for this or advice?

Hardware :: Magic Mouse - Finger Moves?

Nov 28, 2010

I've had the Magic Mouse for a few months and I'm not overly impressed with it, although I like the sideways swipe very much. But perhaps my preferences aren't ideal. I am using Magic Prefs.

I find the mouse very heavy, with 2 batteries (- it's a pity there wasn't a chorded version - it would be much lighter).

My question: Is there a way the movement of my forefinger can represent the movement of the cursor? i.e. is there a way I don't have to move the actual mouse (it is heavy), but just move my finger around the surface and have the mouse cursor follow?

Hardware :: Magic Mouse 2 Finger L / R Swipes Not Working

Dec 18, 2010

The issue is basically as described in the thread title. Out of nowhere, my Magic Mouse doesn't seem to recognize left and right 2-finger swipes (forward/back in browser and I've also used Better Touch Tool to make it change songs in iTunes). The only change I've made was to install the drivers for a Digidesign MBox 2 (audio/MIDI interface for recording). I checked my mouse preferences, and the box for the 2-finger swipe is checked. I've turned the mouse off and back on, restarted BTT, restarted the computer, and pretty much everything else I can think of. Does anyone have any ideas, or has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there any chance the MBox could have some effect on this?

OS X :: Changing Two Finger Swipe Direction On Macbook?

Jan 13, 2011

I've had an iPhone for the last few years and am used to the direction of swiping on the iPhone. I recently purchased a macbook pro and noticed that the scrolling on the iPhone and Macbook occur in the opposite direction when scrolling from top to bottom and it's driving me crazy. I'm looking for a way to change the direction that the window moves when using the two finger swipe on my macbook pro.

When scrolling though web pages on the iPhone, sliding your finger from the top of the phone to the bottom displays text above the current viewing window. In other words, if I place my finger over a word and move my finger up or down my finger is still on top of the word when I'm done scrolling. Scrolling on the track pad of my macbook pro works in the opposite direction. On the macbook when I swipe two fingers from the top to the bottom of the track pad the text above the current window is shown. If I put my cursor over a word and two finger swipe the word moves in the opposite direction as my fingers. I would like to change this behavior so that scrolling occurs in the same manner that it does on the iPhone.

OS X :: 4 Finger Swipe Occasionally Shows Desktop Instead

Aug 24, 2009

I'm very satisfied with snow leopard, but with one qualm: I noticed that apple changed SOMETHING with the way expose works with gestures. Back in leopard, when I swiped four fingers down, it would expos, and four fingers up = show desktop. However this doesn't appear to be the case in snow leopard. When I swipe four fingers down, it often shows my desktop instead of going into expos. I have to swipe my fingers up and down a few times to get it to go into expos correctly. It's really odd and I don't understand why it's doing this. Could it be related to the fact that I have my upper right corner set to show desktop?
