This was AFTER i partitioned the HD with Boot Camp 50/50 mac/win Win 7 64 bit install went fine after I loaded OS Snow. When I tried to install the 64 bit drivers from the DVD it said my computer was not supported for 64 bit. I've seen conflicting info.
OS X :: IMac G5 Speakers Don't Seem To Be Able To Handle High Pitched Sound In A Movie?
May 20, 2010I have a 24" aluminum iMac G5. I have never had a problem with sound before, and feel like this problem is isolated to a certain DVD but the DVD works on EVERY other player I own. Everything pretty much plays DVDs, so that's many!
So here's my problem: There's parts of this movie that have very high pitched sounds, like electronic sounds that are just sound effects in the movie. Whenever I get to those parts in this movie (maybe even other movies for all I know, I don't play many) and the sound goes quiet, like the speakers can't handle that high pitched sound.
I feel there must be something I can do about it, right? I just use the regular default DVD player application that pops up when I put a DVD in. I tried playing with that equalizer but nothing changed.

Dec 10, 2010I am either going to get the 13 inch macbook pro intel core 2 duo 2.4GHz or the Imac i3 3.06 intel.... but I know the intel chip is better in the Imac, and I can upgrade the RAM to 16GB!!!(: But is the Imac i3 going to be SUPER slow for SIMS3 online and Modern warfare 1...?? like this 06 macbook is? am I going to see a big difference?

Apr 13, 2010I was waiting to buy a new Macbook Pro but as soon as they were released today I said "meh" and decided maybe I should buy a brand new iMac and keep my Early 08 MBP. I want to get a new Mac in preparation for the upcoming launch of Steam on OS X and just because mine is long in the tooth for Windows gaming.
Anyways... I just had a thought and was wondering if any owners could clear it up. The resolution on the 27 i7 Quad Core seems ENORMOUS for a middle-grade ATI GPU. Are you able to game on high settings for semi-modern games like L4D2, TF2, etc. at the 27"'s native resolution? What are your thoughts on it as a gaming machine. It seems like the 27" will obsolete itself quicker than a i5/i7 21 inch (if one ever comes out) due to the screen resolution size.

Jul 15, 2010Thinking of buying an iMac in the next couple of months and want to know know if anyone has experience of running games on Windows 7 under Bootcamp? Do they run ok? I know it depends what sort of game you are playing so I usually play MMO's & FPS. I will be using OSX for all non gaming stuff but if the gaming under Windows 7 is not that good I may just buy a Macbook for my OSX stuff and buy a seperate PC just for gaming.

Software :: IMac Freezing During Video Games?
May 25, 2009I recently (3 days of writing this) was playing World of Warcraft and my Mac completely froze. The only way to escape this is by turning the computer on and off. Ever since, any time I open a video game application, within a few seconds my Mac will completely freeze. On occasion my screen will freeze but my mouse will work, albeit in reverse (left is right, up is down, etc.) and will move incredibly fast. No other applications are affected in such a manner and since this is only occuring during graphics intense video games, I suspect my graphics card is causing this.

Feb 1, 2009I have the fully loaded 3.06GHz iMac with the upgraded video card. The native resolution is 1920x1200, which even with the iMac's decent specs, is a hefty performance dump being forced to run games in this high resolution. When I try lowering the resolution, literally every other resolution option looks like crap, while 1920x1200 looks crisp and perfect. Most of the other options aren't a matching aspect ratio for the widescreen monitor. Is there a good resolution you recommend, and if it isn't available in my game, is there a way to make it available?
Do I need to hack each game to display other resolution options that match my aspect ratio? How can I get better performance besides turning the graphics to crap? I would be happy running in a lower resolution with all other settings maxed, rather than most settings low with such a high resolution.
Do I have any options here or am I screwed? I'm sure some of you guys must have come across this issue! I'm a new Mac convert who can't get rid of my PC gaming.
Note: Preferably I would like to find an alternate widescreen resolution, rather than finding a way to use 4:3 with black bars, but either would be better than how it is now.

It's my plan to download some legacy games from Steam (like Doom II, and Half-Life); but does anyone here have any experience with using Steam? Steam appeals to me because it's gonna be easier than hunting-down some of these games on disc. Then there's all that faff with patches and stuff, which Steam deals with automatically.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: IMac 2011 Freezes During Games And Video
May 4, 2012So, for the last two months my iMac (27", 2,7 GHz, mid 2011, 12 GB RAM, AMD Raderon HD 6770M 512MB, running OSX Lion 10.7.3) has started to freeze during games and from time to time during youtube videos or VLC. A reboot is required, but the problem usually comes back within 5 minutes or so.
The game I play is usually StarCraft 2, which worked fine for about 6 months before the freezes started. Most of the time the computer just freezes but sometimes the right side of the screen is moved to the left side and the left to the right. Then the freeze occurs, the screen turns grey with small vertical stripes on it. Graphics hardware problem?
No swaps of the screen occurs during the freezes when watching video but everything else is pretty much the same. After a few freezes the iMac refuses to reboot for a couple of hours.
