IMac :: Yellow Tint On Screen / CPU Or A Display Issue ?
Jan 10, 2010I see all these complaints about i7 iMacs, does the yellow tint affect Core2Duo models? Is the tint an effect of a MB/CPU issue or a display problem?

IMac :: Yellow Tint With Bleeding On Sides / Prominent Yellow Tint Streaking On Screen
Jul 4, 2009Alu 24" 2.4ghz when they first came out with aluminum, got it at the store. since august 07 My imac had a small yellow tint, i noticed, when i got it and it was not worth anyhting screaming about, i also noticed it had bleeding issues ath the bottom and sides. I wanted to return it or trade but i was convinced out of it.
Now i noticed that from left to right their is a prominent yellow tint streaking it's way across and fading around the half way point.It is irritating and sad to see this display on this mac was ok, at first but it is geting slightly worse.I have apple care, can i trade this/replace it at an applestore, or would they need to fix it?

Jun 28, 2010I just received my new imac 27, i7 (28-06-2010). I ran the screen test, unfortunately my screen has yellow tint issue. I have ran all updates and firmware within apple update with no luck. Going to call Apple for a replacement!

Aug 28, 2010I have a late 2006 Macbook, and my dad has an early 2009 Macbook. I was comparing the two today and noticed that there was a significant difference between their LCDs. My dad's Macbook has a lighter, more normal display. While mine has a yellow tint to it and is darker. Both computers were on the same display profiles and both had the same brightness set.
Is this just how LCDs are as they age? Or is mine really not supposed to have that yellow tint? The new Macbook is on the right in the pic.
IMac :: 27" With Yellow Tint / How To Fix It
Sep 23, 2010Now this is my first ever Mac after being dragged into the Apple world by my iPhone and iPad. I love it, everything is a joy to use and i've been surprised at how quickly I have adapted to the world of Mac.
Anyway when I got it home on the day I noticed a spec of dust under the glass. Called Best Buy but surprise, surprise they had sold out of the model I had. No biggie I thought, I will get it looked at one day.
IMac :: Yellow Tint Is Back?
Nov 27, 2010So I took the hefty plunge and purchased the 27" i5 from a local Apple Retail Store, believing that Apple would have finally resolved the yellow-tint issue from over a year ago, or at least it would appear in much less iMacs as it has sorta died down on the forums.
Anyways, opened it last night, and continued copying over files to it today, only to notice that it has a slight yellow-tint issue towards the bottom 1/3 of display.
I've already made a genius bar appointment......I even purchased Apple Care on it, so the total was around 2.5k, and I'm hoping for them to allow a swap for another brand new unit? Is this likely, or will they just simply wave me off to a repair or refurb route. After dumping so much $ on it, and even purchasing Apple Care, I wouldn't be satisfied for anything but a straight exchange to a new unit.
Also, will they allow me to open it up right there and check to see that it doesn't have any display issues as well?
IMac :: Screeen With The Yellow Tint
Jun 12, 2010I have read the many many threads on the Yellow Tint issue although i am concerned about buying a 27" i5 Imac as i've been saving for a while. I'd be really disappointed if i end up with a screeen with the yellow tint issue.
What i would like advice on is the following:-
Has the reason behind the yellow tint issue been found and has it been resolved?
Would waiting for the next updated Imacs be a better option as i am not in a major hurry to buy my imac although i would prefer to buy it sooner rather than later considering the time i have been saving.

Apr 19, 2010Both the Macbook and HP monitor are set to display Adobe RGB, the HP displays really crisp whites, and the MacBook is yellow in comparison. I'm wondering if all Macbooks display colours this way, or is mine faulty? I tend to work on the larger screen, but it'd be good to have the option to use the small one also.
I've considered buying a calibration tool (an overdue purchase) and/or taking it to the Mac store, it'd be a great help if anyone knows if it's a problem that can be fixed at all.
MacBook Pro :: Yellow Tint On HR AG / Calibration Not Successful
Dec 10, 2010I looked through the yellow tint threads and sure enough noticed that my high res AG had it. At first I dismissed it as poor viewing angles. I calibrated the LCD, which seemed to make it a bit better. But it is not a matter of viewing angles. I tried the test on my friend's old blackbook, and when viewing the screen head-on, the bottom square definitely looks yellow, BUT, when tilting the computer back, changing the viewing angle, the square turns white again, thus, a result of viewing angles. The same thing on my HR AG doesn't change the color of the bottom square, it stays yellowish. So I'm pretty much convinced that it's a real issue, at least to some degree.
I'm considering taking it back to the Apple store, or at least going there and seeing how their display models look. Something tells me that nearly all HR AG models (the current shipment that's out right now) suffers from this, and that my replacement will be the same. Does anyone think this is true as well? Should I even bother trying to swap it out? The yellow tint threads have several people that are going through 5-6 exchanges, and all still getting the same problem.
OS X :: 24" IMac Display Suddenly Changed To Max Contrast Or Tint?
Jul 9, 2010I was plugging along on the internet when I decided to try the spoken commands for the first time. When I opened System Preferences and clicked on the microphone, at that instant my screen flickered and changed in both quality and what appears to be contrast and tint. I tried in vain to correct this by way of the controls for the Display in Sys. Prefs. but to no avail. I would like to know if I have a video problem or a memory problem.

Dec 29, 2009I sent an email to Steve Jobs about my yellow tint 21.5 iMac issues (three exchanges, all affected, resulting in a refund). I got a call from Dena at Executive Care within 24 hours.
She said they are aware of the problem and do not know how widespread it is. According to Dena, the issue is not resolved and that ordering a new iMac will not result in a fixed display.
She said the engineers are working on it now and they are not sure if it's hardware (most likely) or software related. Further Apple stores cannot do repairs because they haven't determined what the issue is.
PowerPC :: Yellow / Green Stripe Appeared On Screen Display
Sep 22, 2009Pulled my coveted 12" 1.5 ghz powerbook out of its bag and it's has an annoying little opaque stripe about 3/4" along the right side of the display. It changes color from yellow to green. When I pinch the lower side of my display together, it goes back to the blue background color, but still has a distortion to it.

Jun 25, 2014early 2009 Intel iMac 24". OS 10.6.8.
Working in Excel today, I was highlighting groups of cells with color when the entire screen suddenly had a pale grey-green tint. Can still see colors beneath, but everything tinted (not just the Excel window, but the entire display). White, of course, is most dramatic. The Dell monitor beside it is fine.
I've recalibrated color a half dozen times (have always had to do that to get the Dell and iMac screens as similar as possible). It's impossible to get white on the Mac. Rebooted several times, including hard boot, zapped the PRam, ran Permissions Repair and Disk Repair from the startup CD. Installed Temperature Monitor to see if there's a heat problem, but I could not find normal temp values anywhere on the Web, so that was something of a bust. Temps attached below in case there's an educated set of eyes out there....
Ran some online tests, too, for color distortion, dead pixels, that kind of thing, but nothing reveled.
I've been all over the Web looking for some guidelines, but most posts at apple and elsewhere seem to focus on later-model iMacs with the yellow lower screen problem when new (It's not that) or panic screens of wild colors, stripes, and the like. This is just a grey-green tint that covers the entire screen, rendering whites grey-green and colors muddy.
IMac :: Display Has Yellow Vertical Line?
Mar 30, 2009I have a 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac that has developed a vertical yellow line in the display that won't go away even when restarted. It's like a 1 pixel column of dead pixels right in the middle of the screen. I think it's still under warranty. Is this something that can be fixed under the warranty?

Jun 27, 2010I hate to complain but this just sucks. After dealing with multiple repairs with my 24" iMac, I got a 27" as a replacement. I always keep my iMac just a bit over half brightness. I have the same problem again! why the same issue is occurring and what should I tell apple if they can't fix it!

Aug 13, 2008So I got a brand new iMac 5 days ago and I connected my dell 24" (2407) to it.. I seem to have a yellowish tint.. I tried to calibrate it and it still seems to have it on there... On my pc the dell has a perfect screen.. Yesterday I go to turn on my new iMac and it wouldn't turn on.. I kept on pressing the power button and it wouldn't turn on.. So I unplugged the power cable and put it back in and nope didn't work... so at this point i am upset i pressed it really hard and it turned on.. So i turned it off and pressed the button again and it seems like it is working again, but why would it do that in the 1st place??

IMac :: 27" Backlight Bleeding Along With Yellow Screen
Jan 1, 2010I have not seen any posts comparing these two symptoms together, but I am wonding if both exist on the same screens, or if they are infact seperate issues. I returned a 27" iMac i7 because it had both slight yellowing and terrible backlight bleeding. I have seen multiple machines first hand (3 Core 2 Duos week 41s) at different stores (Apple and Best Buy) that had no yellowing and no backlight bleeding. I won't get into how to check for yellowing, you can read about that issue here: [URL]
But to check for backlight bleeding is both easy and impossible not to see if you have it. To check for backlight bleeding, a quick way is to bring up a site like http://www.blackle.com/ or any other black background, and check for an inconsistent white glow on the edges of your screen. I had serious backlight bleeding in the lower corners of my screen, which happens to be where the yellowing was happening. I don't know if they are related, but hopefully we can determine if there is any correlation here.
I did order a second machine, because I know Apple knows how to make a 27" iMac with a perfect screen (as advertised), since I have seen 3 of them in the wild. Hopefully they will be back to the quality that they had is their early production units very soon.
IMac :: Core I7 - Yellow Screen (Broken Bluetooth)
Feb 19, 2010I have a week 50, i7, 2TB Imac. It has a very distinct yellow "tinge", and the Bluetooth does not work properly. Every time I reboot or start, the "Bluetooth setup assistant" starts, which I have to force quit. The wireless keyboard and mouse work fine, but I can't add either of my two bluetooth headsets. They pair, but when I try to activate them, it goes to the bluetooth settings screen, where it says that bluetooth is "off", despite the on checkbox being checked and the keyboard and mouse working. I called support and they had me do a bunch of things, the last thing being reinstalling the OS. Didn't work. So now I need to call them back. I have two problems, the yellow screen and the Bluetooth. Should I ask for a replacement? I see that a lot of people have gotten a replacement just for the yellow screen problem. I have two faults.

Sep 25, 2010i bought the 2009 refurbed 27"er and returned it 3 times due to yellow screen problem. for the 4th replacement they decided to send me the new model.
i have the 3rd and 4th replacements sitting here side by side.the 3rd replacement, which has a yellow corner is light years better than the new one.
the new screen doesn't have yellow corners...it's a perfectly consistent yellowish brown tone.
the older one has a yellow corner, but is much more illuminated and very balanced white. the max brightness of the new one is only 3/4s of the max of the old one.i tried configuring it to no avail.
are all the new models like this?it's quite a bit snappier, but the screen is worse than the last 3 that had yellow patches? it almost seems like it was a return and it shipped from cali rather than asia?

Sep 27, 2009So, for some reason when I have a secondary display connected to my Mac Pro, it will sometimes randomly get a yellow tint. Turning it on and off again will fix the problem, but then it'll only be a matter of time until it randomly gets a yellow tint again, usually when the display gets focus.

As if you were looking at a picture film. I have all the current updates on it, the hard drive is only months old. Dec 16, 2009Picked up a used mac mini from eBay to use as a HTPC. This is my first mac.
When hooked up to a TV the display has a blue tint to it. I have tried the 2 TVs in my house, both have the same result. It's so blue its not usable. When hooked up to a 20" 1440x900 reg monitor it looks fine.

PowerPC :: EMac Screen Developing Green Tint In The Bottom Right Corner Of Its Screen?
Oct 6, 2008Our eMac seems to be developing a green tint in the bottom right hand corner of its screen. I've done some quick searching online and it seems that a few people have suggested a cold boot so it runs the degaussing process on a startup.
I left the eMac off for about an hour, unplugged. It did the degauss once it was plugged back in and "seems" to have removed nearly all of the green tint.
There are a few threads on various forums when I search on Google about this issue but they have no conclusive reasons why this is happening.
Could my eMac be developing a fault at all? I'm not too sure if anything magnetic has been placed on our table near the eMac so this may be the reason.
IMac :: Help! IMac 21.5" (Late 2009) Showing Slight Yellowish Tint!
Jul 24, 2010Hey guys! So just a few days ago, I received my iMac, and boy do I love it. A definite upgrade and improvement from my old Acer Aspire 3680.
But despite this, I have noticed that my iMac does have a slight yellowish tint at the bottom to corners. I just arrived at my desk, and the login window (I keep a password lock) had a slight yellowish tint when I woke up my iMac from sleep . I then noticed that the bottom two corners had a slight yellow tint to them. I verified this via the MacRumors Forum post, and I was able to find it out by making my desktop background white. Again, it may not seem noticeable at first, but if you examine it closely, it becomes apparent.
I've already called my local Apple store and one of them said that don't know about this issue (?) and that they could schedule an appointment for me. I declined because I have to have me parents take me and I'm pretty sure that I can't handle the load of carrying a 20lbs. computer w/o dropping it (yikes!).
So here's the big question, should I go to my local Apple store or call the Apple hotline when it's open (currently closed at the time of this thread)? I don't want to sound like a lunatic or someone that just wants to get a better iMac for free. Again, it's slight, but considering that I do movie editing and Photoshop work
PowerPC :: Blue Tint On Ibook Lcd Screen?
Aug 7, 2007The LCD display on my ibook will get a intermittent blue tint. I have no idea what could be causing it. The LCD seems to be in good shape.
