View 9 Replies View RelatedI just replaced my HDTV with a new Sony Bravia 32EX500 (Full HD, 1080p). My previous TV (HD Ready, 720p) was linked to my 2008 iMac with a VGA cable (with a mini-DVI to VGA adapter on the Mac end). It worked perfectly fine, but I can't get it to work with the new TV. Could you please tell me what resolution, frequency, and colours I should use to make it work?
Please not that I do not want a HDMI cable. I know it'd be better and easier, but my computer is quite far away from the TV and an HDMI cable of that length would be way too expensive. I'd rather find a way to make it work with the existing VGA cable. I just need to find the right settings for that VGA input. The TV doesn't recognize the signal right now.
Anyone point in me in the correct direction to stream my iTunes music either thru my AV receiver or PS3?
I'm going to install and set up my Airport Express. Do I need to connect from AE to receiver via mini-stereo to rca cable/toslink cable or can I somehow connect wirelessly to my PS3 and go from there?
My Mac Mini loses connection with my Onkyo receiver NR-609 after turning off the receiver then back on. The only way to reistablish the connection is to unplug then replug the HDMI cable to the Mac Mini. There's no effect if I unplug then replug the HDMI to the receiver.

i have a G4 with an m-audio revolution 7.1 sound card. the speakers are cambridge soundworks 510D and the receiver is an old denon avr-1403. i have an spdif cable but the problem is my speakers are "computer" speakers so i cant just go from the digital out on my sound card to the digital in on the receiver and plug my speakers/sub into the receiver. and here's a pic of the back of the sub on the 510D showing the inputs
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a Mac Mini (March 2009 model) and want to connect it via Firewire to my Sony TRV-22 camcoder. The camcorder has a Mini DV Firewire jack on it (I think this is called a 4-pin connector sometimes too). But on the Mac Mini, I can't tell if I need a 6-pin or a 9-pin. Can someone point me to a good cable so I can dump some MiniDV tapes into iMovie?

I am looking for a nice budget 5.1 reciver to hook up to my iMac. I do use my mac for watching blu ray movies and such as I have no Tv but mainly it will be for music. A co-worker of mine is selling his Yamaha HTR-5840 for $250 canadian and I was wondering if this is a good price? I'm not really in the know when it comes to stereo equipment.

I've bousht an adapter (MiniDispport->HDMI), which is connected to the HDMI wire that's plugged into the TV. The point is that when i go to HDMI 1 into the menu, macbook's screen goes blue for few seconds, but then goes back as it was, and i haven't got any image on the TV.

I have a new iMac which I'm attempting to connect to my Sony KDL-46S5100 LCD Television via HDMI. The TV will not recognize the computer. I have confirmed that my adapter and cable work by testing the connections on a MacBook Pro - that worked fine. However, when I plug the adapter into my iMac the TV says "no signal" and the iMac does not recognize the TV. I went to the Apple store earlier and they were able to get the computer to connect to their TV with no problem.

I have an iMac (early 2008) and I would like to use my Sony Bravia TV (46EX520) as a monitor. Pretty easy so far but the trick is that I would like to do it wirelessly. I have the Sony wireless / LAN adaptor (UWA-BR100) which enable me to connect my TV to my modem/router (D-Link DSL-2730B). However, I do not want to stream movies, music or pictures from my computer to my TV. I want to use the TV as computer screen. I have not found a way to wirelessly link my iMac to the Sony Bravia magic trick?

A couple of years ago when I got a tv for my room, my dad built a rack of shelves into the wall, one for my tv, one for my stereo and one for random stuff. It's always been nice, but restricting. I like to move my room around, and My desk is forced to stay right next to that rack to transmit audio to my receiver via a hard wire. Seeing as my iMac has bluetooth built in, I was wondering if it is at all possible to send stereo high quality audio over bluetooth to some sort of receiver that would feed into two RCA plugs... Now, I'm not talking audiophile quality, this is just a $400 sony rig, no crown audio here, but I dont want it to sound like those old 900mhz wireless headphones with all the interference. Is this at all possible? Or am I doomed to either staying put, or running 5' of cable under my carpet?

We've been talking about this new behemoth from Sony in the Macbook Air forums as it's the same weight as an MBA (it's a premium ultraportable!) but the specs on it are so phenomenal that it'll surely take some beating even from an MBP update.Design: Aluminium + Carbon FiberWeight: 3.07lbs or 3.3lbs (depending on which Sony website you visit)Screen: 13.1", 1920 x 1080 Resolution
CPU: Core i7-620M. 2.66GHz, 3.33GHz Turbo. 35W TDP. 4MB L2 CacheRAM: 8GB DDR3 SDD: 512GB (Raid 0 available)Graphics: Nvidia 330M GT 1GB GDDR3 and Intel HD integrated - switchable
Basically I've got my mac mini (1.5 core solo) going optical SPDIF into my Sony Surround amp (6.1) But If I play music from itunes i don't get 2.1 I get 2.0. I've been arsing around with Audio Midi Setup all evening to no avail, whatever I do it won't let me do anything other than stereo left and right, which of course is bloody annoying because it means the bass channel is completely missing.
