IMac :: 09 27" I7 Won't Boot After Installing Additional 8GB RAM, It Beeps?

Aug 26, 2010

I bought 2x4GB modules of RAM from OWC for my 2009 27" i7 iMac. Following the video on OWC for replacing the memory, I opened the RAM tray / area at the bottom of it, and there were two RAM modules in it, one on each side (2x2GB), I moved the 2GB module on the left over to the right side, and inserted 2 4GB modules into the left tray, reattached the metal panel / strip and booted up and it beeps :/

OS X V10.7 Lion :: 3 Beeps When Trying To Boot From USB?

Jun 13, 2012

i wanna boot from USB but i just hear 3 beeps .. Ive done some research about the beeps and it seems like 3 beeps is a sign off something wrong with the RAM .. but the funny thing is what i can boot up normally and there is no problem, Lion starts up with no problem other than that is to slow. I used the Carbon Copy Cloner to get my Snow Leopard Install down to the USB.. Maybe something isn't right ?

IMac :: Installing New HDD - What Is The Best Way To Copy A Boot Camp Partition To Hdd

Jan 9, 2011

I want to replace the hard drive in my iMac (2009 i5 model) but I'm not sure how I can copy my Boot Camp partition over. I had a difficult time trying to installing Windows 7 on my computer the first time I did it, I had to slip in extra drivers and remove ram sticks and stuff like that but once I got it running it has ran fine without any problems. I skimmed through the SSD upgrade thread looking for info but I didn't see anything that jumped out at me. When I google'd the issue, almost all of the info I found was from 2009 and older. So, what is the best way to copy a Boot Camp partition to a new hard disk?

Windows On Mac :: Installing Boot Camp Drivers Without Installing NVidia Driver?

Jul 28, 2009

I just finished up a fresh install of Windows 7 and downloaded and installed the NVidia driver from their site directly since the one in the Boot Camp files is pretty old and technically the Vista driver anyway.

But I still need the Brightness, Sound, etc key functionality. Is there a way to selectively install Boot Camp drivers? That's the only one I need. The wireless, chipset, video and everything else works just fine (and in some cases better) than the ones included in Apple's setup.

OS X :: Slow Boot After Installing Windows Vista Using Boot Camp ?

Dec 25, 2008

This is the 1st time i got a Mac , i bought a black Macbook 2.4GHz some days ago .

I installed Windows Vista Ultimate using Boot Camp , and all went smoothly .

Only 1 prob is when restarting , i have to wait too long for the Windows to log on , i think about 1min with the black screen.

And if i want to boot in Mac OS , i have to push down the D button or the Alt, it takes quite a long time too .

So do you guys have any solution to this problem ? I want to get rid of the waiting time, way too much.

And do you know how to make my Macbook jump right in the choosing section when it starts ? ( so that i dont have to push down any button when it starts )

IMac :: Install The New Chips, The Mac Won't Start. Period. No Beeps, No Nothing?

Jul 2, 2008

I recently got an 20' 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Imac. It came with 1 gig of Ram. I purchased 2 2Gig SODIMM chips from New Egg. The ram specs matches what the little manual says. ddr2, pc2-5300 667MHz. When I install the new chips, the mac won't start. Period. No beeps, no nothing. I can sort of hear it try to start, then quits.

When I put back the original ram chip. Works again. When I have the original ram chip AND 1 of the new chips (for a total of 3 gigs of RAM) it works.Swapped one new chip with the other (as long as the original is in) Works.Original Chip is on the right side, New is on the left. Swapped places. Works. The mac will start ONLY if the original is in place. I should be able to start it with the nes ones in but it won't. I know both works because I swapped them.Anybody have any ideas on what's going on? Is there a setting somewhere I need to change or something?

IMac (Intel) :: 3 Beeps At Start And Still No Sign Of Life

Sep 8, 2014

I turned my iMac on (2008 model) but after 10 minutes it went black and beeped 3 times loudly, repeating at 5 second cycles.  Shut it down by pressing the ON button for 5 sec.  Restarted and all worked for a hour before repeating the same problem...screen and keyboard and touchpad all locked out....shut down with the ON button.  On restart it gave me the 3 beeps every 5 sec with an ALL BLACK screen...no hard disk whirring, either.  I don't know how to do cardiac massage on an iMac.  Is it dead?  Is it the processor?  Is it the video card?  Is it the hard disc?

IMac :: An Additional 27' Display For IMac 27?

Aug 28, 2010

Need advice from those people buying an additional display to use with iMac 27.

Would you buy a smaller 24 inch iPS panel like Dell U2410 ($475 incl tax and shipping) or a 27 inch LED/TN panel (around $350 - 450) with the same size? I can also buy HP 2710M TN panle for $300

I'm not doing anything related to the Photo stuffs but Coding/Programming. So the Text should be crisp and clear ,easy to read .

Budget around $500, Please recommend any good 27 display that can meet my requirements, if you think I should go with the same size with my 27 iMac.

IMac :: Using An Additional Monitor With IMac 27?

Aug 15, 2010

I can't make a decision about what monitor I should buy to use with my new iMac 27. I have a limit budget about $400 -$500. I narrow my choice into these models, which are Dell U2410 and HP 2710m or Dell U2311H.

I'm a Software Engineer and I'm using the Dell U2410 at my company and I dont have any problem with it. I can get it only $435

The problem is that I would like to know people using 27 iMac with a smaller monitor like 24 inch. What do you feel? any different? That's why my choice includes Hp2710M even if it's not the IPS monitor but a TN monitor. I cna get it $340

The Dell U2311h is the IPS monitor as well and I can get it only $250. With only one inch less than U2410 but less price almost $200, I could not ignore it.

Should i get ont of the IPS monitor even if the screen is smaller or use the same size with my iMac 27? I cant afford the IPS 27 inch.

OS X :: MacBook Won't Boot After Installing Snow Leopard

Aug 28, 2009

It just hangs at the spinning pinwheel. I shut the machine off and booted it into Verbose-mode (Command-V) and it stops at "Initializing Power Manager" or something very early on. I pulled the battery and unplugged the machine, am letting it cool off (not that there's a point) -- it's one of the original MacBooks that had that "shutoff" problem with the wire that'd melt and short to the heatsink but mine never had the issue because I wasn't using it very often at the time. Any ideas? The drive does show up when I hold down Option.
