I accidentally changed some settings in the mail program on a friends iMac for the iCloud account. Now he cannot send or receive any mails. How can I reset the good settings?

My iCloud apple identity is my @mac.com address but since Sunday, I cannot send or receive emails with this address, only with my @me.com address. Same for iMac, iPhone and iPad.I have now spent two long phone calls with the apple help number. I then had a fast track on-line conversation with someone today for another hour to have it escalated to a senior advisor. They have tried to sort out the problem unsuccessfully - am sure they will have another go on Monday. In the meanwhile, is there anyone who has had the same problem before? I have tried changing my password on iCloud, deleting and reinstalling my iCloud on my iPhone but nothing has worked.

I just got my Mac last week and ever since then I haven't been able to send mail from one account. I can both receive and send from my gmail account. My EDU account can only receive mail, and not send it. I've tried resetting the information, and even deleted the account a few times. All of the servers and ports are exactly like the school website says they should be.

So I've had my macbook since last January but have never been able to get the mail program to function. i set up my email address in the program but have never gotten an email or been able to send one.

im new to this Mac game and spent a couple of days doing my research going through all the forums trying to enable mail on my macbook using my hotmail account. When using Pop i could recieve but couldnt send and now im using http plug in and can send but cannot recieve i use hotmail.co.uk as .com in my email address. In the past few weeks, I have had major trouble in sending emails from my Macbook via the mail application (program), but I am able to receive mail fine. all settings are correct (checked with provider). I can recieve on iphone, ipad etc, just not on my mac mail (although i can send email).
reset all email passwords and rebooted. Outgoing mail server is POP.
I've been trying to set up a new email account using apple mail Version 2.1.3 (753.1) using mac osx version 10.4.11. My out going mail server is Sky. However,it is not a sky email address and i'm having real problems getting it to work. The account has been set up and i can recieve email but not send email. When i try to send an email i get the following message.
The server response was: 5.5.1 [URL]
or
The SMTP server �smtp.tools.sky.com� rejected the password for user �Blah blah�
Please re-enter your password, or cancel.
I did this and clicked on ok but that box just reappears. I know that the password is correct.
