ICloud :: .mac Email Not Working On Macbook After Transfer?
May 2, 2012
My email on my mac for my .mac account has gone offline after I made the iCloud transfer. It is working fine on both my iPhone and iPad so the account is fine, but I can't get it online on my mac OSX 10.6.8.Â
What do I have to change in my settings to get it to work. My mail preferences still have a MobileMe logo.Â
AT 6:55 Eastern, iCloud email is not working again in the New York, Long Island area. Why has iCloud email been so unreliable? This failure has been happening on a regular basses.

I'm on 10.6.8 and chose the option to keep my email working after the iCloud move. It isn't working however. Do I need to take some additional steps to make it work again? I can't set up iCloud because I'm still on 10.6.8 and don't see it in the systems preferences.

I just updated to the icloud from mobilme. The e-mail icon on my macbook pro will not update e-mail content. I have to log on to the Internet and into icloud.I would prefer the one click functionality to open my emails from the icon at the bottom of the screen.
I have a box that pops up on my desktop that states: My MAC can't connect to iCloud because off a problem with my email address. I do not use iCloud and do not want to at this time. Is this an issue that i have to deal with until i sign up with I cloud or is this removable until I want I cloud?Â
Not sure why this is happening, but I'm not getting all emails on iPhones and iPads. I've had several emails addressed to my me.com address that show up on my iMac and MacBook, but never show up on our iPhones or iPads. This applies only to my me.com stuff. Even an iTunes marketing email doesn't show up on my iPhone. Â
I just transitioned to iCould last week and that's when it started. All devices were converted to iCloud and the iMac and MacBook are set up as IMAP accounts.Â
Info: iMac (21.5-inch Late 2009), Mac OS X (10.7.3), 1.5 GB DRAM
for reasons unknown my icloud email account has stopped working. I did convert over to icloud from mobile me months ago. I do not understand what happened and how to fix it.
I have two POP email accounts that have been working quite well on my MacBook for several months. About a week ago one of them stopped receiving emails. I have deleted the account and set it up again to no avail. If I check the account information it lists all the emails on the server. I can open it on my browser and the mail is being delivered just fine there - just not on my imail account. The two email accounts that I have are set up the same and only one is receiving mail.
I have found many instructions on how to transfer your entire email "mail" folder from one mac to another... However, I need to simply transfer only one folder of emails from the 1st mac to a 2nd mac. I'm concerned that if I follow the instructions for copying the whole enchilada (copy and move "mail" from 1st mac to library on 2nd mac, and copy and move "com.apple.mail.plist" from 1st mac to preferences on 2nd mac), I might mess up or replace all the mail on the mac I'm trying to transfer this one folder to!
Just received my new MacBook Pro yesterday (13" lower end model) and let it sit overnight transferring files from a Time Machine backup of my old iMac. Brought the machine to work today on a full charge and discovered I had less than two hours of battery time remaining. Fired up Activity Monitor and discovered the dock was using 95-100% of the CPU. Did lots of research online but couldn't come up with any tricks to solve this dilemma. I did have an Admin acount on my iMac, however. Logged into that, and voila: the dock issue went away.Â
Question is: what should I do next? I had a lot of older software on my iMac that got moved over in the transfer and I suspect something is causing the issue. What is the best way to "start over", as it were? I have this functioning Admin account, so should I just create a new user account from here and re-import all of my files (except for the software, which I can reinstall on a "as needed" basis). Â
My old machine gave me no trouble so it's frustrating to have this beautiful new laptop experiencing problems on it's very first day of life!Â
I am looking for a feature that is found in MS Outlook in that I can simply transfer an e-mail to Calendar by clicking the e-mail and holding the mosue bottom down as I transfer the e-mail to calendar. Is there such a feature in OSX Lion?
Looking for something I can setup to transfer files from my home iMac to my folks' MBP over the internet. We use iChat (via Google mail) often, and I "take over" their MBP to perform maintenance and just generally help them when they get stuck (they're not very computer literate) however, I would like to have a way to transfer files that are too big to email to their machine i.e. video clips etc.
Any recommendation for some sort of FTP application I've used FTP software on Windows machines before, just haven't used anything on macs yet.
I need to transfer old Email messages from a Powerbook G4 running 10.5.8 to a newer iMac running 10.6.8. I can move the messages from Mail Library into the newer Mac Mail Library (via home wireless network), but when I open Mail program on the new iMac the Emails don't show up in the Mailbox I transferred them to. I can see the messages in Mail Library and even read them if I double click on the message, but I can't see them in the Mail program. Is there a compatibility issue between Leopard and Snow Leopard?
In the Mail app, I'm getting a circle with a triangle and an exclamation mark inside it. I can't receive or send my from this (Outlook Express) account. It's a work email account, but it has been working fine until now. I clicked Rebuild from the app menu (trying to fix it!), but that only removed all existing emails in the mailbox. Â
I'm new to the world of Apple and i was wondering if possible, is there a way to view my emails straight out of entourage(i was using outlook 2003). Is there a way to transfer the .pst folder over, or can entourage be configured? At the moment I'm having to go through Safari to get to emails.
I run iMac OS X version 10.5.2. Have the usual Mac Mail program, working through Embarq. There is also an email program installed by the Mac staff where I bought machine, which works off Safari, which has been set to open its first page on the Embarq page. Finally, also on advice of Mac staff, I have email program in Thunderbird from Mozilla. That seems easiest to use, but all the files holding addresses and group lists are on one of the other two. Have tried to move them to Thunderbird. No luck. Wont work. Would like to combine them all on Thunderbird. Could someone suggest if this is possible, so as to avoid adding new addresses (over 400 at this point) one at a time?
