So right now my current configuration features a 1TB Maxtor Central Axis which houses my iTunes library for streaming to my various computers, devices, PS3, and television. In addition I have a 1TB LaCie hard drive that I use to general backups. I have been considering setting up some sort of RAID configuration to ensure data redundancy while also being able to use the same set up work as a streaming NAS server to my other components. I know Drobo makes a product but it's rather expensive given it's specs.

Is there a way to see the content that's been uploaded to iCloud? I want to delete and add additional content, but don't know of a way to see the 'clould' as a folder. I guess as Apple as done away with iDisk (where this was possible) it was just a good method of being able to visually confirm what's there and what isn't.

I uploaded a few documents on to my iCloud drive from my Mac 1. I can see them from My Mac 1 and from iCloud.com but cannot from my other Macs.
Documents were uploaded in the morning and am checking at night, still no signs. Is there a access or sync issue for showing documents across all your devices ?

Right now I have a late 2006 MacBook (C2D) and I am planning on getting a new unibody MacBook in the near future. While using my actual MacBook I replaced the hard disk by a 320 GB Samsung Spinpoint. Of course, I want to have that little friend in the new unibody MacBook. What is the best way to ensure the migration? Just put it in and restart? Or are the any hooks? I hope I could avoid any copying to a third computer, switching hard disks and copying back.

We discovered after lots of exploration that my trash appeared to be performing exactly correctly but in fact there were 900 files in there that had never actually been deleted. This created a disconnect between the trash and the system so it was slowing performance significantly.

I'm contemplating the move to iCloud from MobileMe. I need to be able to sync an older Mac Mini G4 running 10.5.8 too. It can't run Snow Leopard or Lion, so this one issue is holding me back from the iCloud transition - I would have to replace that computer to do so, which seems ridicluous.  I'm concious that I need to make a decision before the June shutdown of Mobile Me and need to plan.

I'm trying to make some videos, while playing a game. I uploaded a video onto youtube and the frames are much slower then what I was experiencing. I had the frames per second on 40, but I'm not sure if that is what I should be doing. Does anyone know what I should put it on, or tell me some good compressions for it?

Mobile Me provided the facility to replace all data on a device from the data on Mobile Me. I have updated my contacts on my iMac. I let iCloud update my newer Mac Book Air but ended up with duplicates Now I want to update my Mac Book Pro which hasn't been used for 4 months and contains all the old contact information I edited off my other two machines. iCloud says the contacts data from my MBP will be MERGED with the data on iCloud. That suggests I will be letting myself in for a complete re-edit again and repeating work already done on the other devices.Â

What exactly happens if I checkmark "documents and data" in the iCloud preferences on both my Macs? On iOS my understanding is that developers can build support for iCloud right into their apps, and so, only those apps that are coded to support iCloud syncing will be able to do it. However on the Mac, documents are not stored in an app-centric manner (and I'm glad because I loathe the app-centric document storage aspect of iOS).
So, I'm not clear what happens if you choose to sync "documents and data" over iCloud. Currently I use Chronosync to sync my documents folders between my desktop and laptop. However, this is a fairly hands-on process, and while I still plan on using Chronosync between my computers for several purposes, I would be happy to have iCloud sync certain documents and data between my Macs.
For example, I'd like iCloud to sync my Stickies, Downloads folders, and certain folders of documents like scanned receipts and saved web archives, etc. However I am scared to check the "Documents and Data" checkbox because I don't know what the heck it does. Is it going to scan my computer and upload everything in my documents folder? Or what? I read Apple's iCloud set-up guide but it did not give me a clue regarding this, and I didn't see any links to an advanced manual.

Can you use iCloud to transfer data from macair to iPad?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use a shared Mac, on which I would like to have also some of my personal iCloud data (reminders, calendars, etc.).A Time Machine backup of this Mac is made on a regular basis, and I want to know if my iCloud data would be saved into the backup drive via Time Machine.Â
In other words, when I set up an iCloud account on a Mac, does the iCloud data remain on Apple's servers or is it actually downloaded, updated, and saved somewhere locally, and therefore is subject to a Time Machine backup unless it is specifically excluded?
I am taking my iPad, model MD333LL/A, iOS 7.1.2, to France next week. It would be useful to be able to transfer the password data contained in my MacBookPro app, Keychain, to the iPad iCloud Keychain app. can this be done? If not, is there some other way to transfer the data, or have access to it short of taking the laptop with me.
