MacBook Pro :: Unable To Close Battery Cover Latch / Opened The Battery Cover?
Dec 21, 2008picked up a unibody last Saturday night, and opened the battery cover tonight. The latch was opened with little resistance, but now won't close. The latch edge sits about 1/8" up, and I can't find anything which would seem to prevent it from closing.
Anyone else had a troublesome battery latch, and how did you resolve it?

Mar 5, 2012After upgrading devices to iCloud from MobilMe. Back to My Mac is only working on some computers so I cannot see all connected computers as before. We have 1 office and 2 home offices, all 3 use Airport and have always been able to Screen Share, etc.

It appears that I need to upgrade from 10.5 (leopard) to 10.6 (snow leopard) BEFORE upgrading from 10.6 to 10.7 (lion). Will someone please confirm that the above is correct and that there is no shortcut from 10.5 directly to 10.7? If the above is correct, what is the easiest and least expensive way to upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6? Do I have to purchase the physical disk from the Apple Store, or is there an easier way via on-line?Â

May 9, 2012My husband and I rely heavily on our shared calendars through MobileMe and I've yet to switch to iCloud because of the complications I'm sensing it will cause us.I have an old MacBook that I've read can't be upgraded to Lion because it doesn't have the necessary hardware.I use iCal mostly in my MacBook and on my iPhone when I'm on the go. My husband just uses it on his iPhone.My question is - when I am forced to switch over to iCloud, will we lose our calendars that I can use on my MacBook?Will they only be available on our iPhones or online? Am I able to have all the functionality of our current calendars (with relative ease of use and syncing from a computer) without having to get a whole new computer/upgraded hardware?

Apr 28, 2012I purchased an icloud storage upgrade in anticipation of using it to manage my apple email across two systems - desktop and laptop. Teh desktop is snow leopard the laptop testing lion. Unfortunately the chance in how apple manages email proved a showstopper and I am NOT prepared to upgrade my desktop to lion - yet - as I have key applications that would require additional upgrades and purchases I dont want to make yet. So - how do I get the upgrade (as yet unused) cancelled and refunded. In speaking with support it seems the downgrade options only apply AFTER the annual period has elapsed.

Sep 19, 2010I have a MBP 2.16 ghz core2duo leopard 10.5.8, which I use mainly for schoolwork(I'm a teacher), recently I bought an Imac G5(tiger10.4) so I would have more space on my desk, I tried to move files etc. over to the iMac (firewire) and found out that newer software does not transfer to an older version and I ordered an install DVD to put leopard on the iMac, can I use the migration option to get files over to the iMac after the leopard install or do I have to update leopard first to get it at the same level as my MBP?

Mar 7, 2009I recently started my own business and have a MP (see my sig) at home where I do all my work. I have CS4, MS Office, MTR, Handbrake, Toast as well as Parallels with WinXP running. Under Windoze I have another copy of office (Enterprise 2007), Quickbooks Pro and several specialized apps I need for my business.For a variety of reasons, I'll soon be getting a 15" MBP. From a third-party I'll bump the RAM for 2GB to 4GB and get the new 500GB 7200RPM drive.
So, the big question is how do I sync up the machines?I need to make sure I've got the same apps (OS X and Win) as well as keep all the documents sync'd up.Initially, can I use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my MP boot drive with all my apps, documents and personal settings to the new 500GB drive? What's the best way to do this initially and going forward?

Sep 19, 2010I am interested to see if any MR users out there use their Mac Pro for running multiple virtual machines concurrently? Plenty of folks run one or two even on a MBP with little problems at all. I am considering running 4 at the same time. Is this going to work? I plan on running Vmware Fusion 3 with 4 virtual machines with Windows 2003 Server Enterprise. This will hopefully work as my all-in-one virtual lab for my security research and development.
I was thinking of an 8 core 2.66 (2009) MP with 24GB of RAM to start with.
