Windows On Mac :: Snow Leopard Killed My Boot Camp Setup?

Aug 29, 2009

I put snow leopard on my mac this afternoon and have been kicking the tires. I ran Parallels 4.0 and the windows worked just fine with my XP Partition. When I tried to boot it up in boot camp however, I got an error telling me it couldn't load windows.

I imagine this is an issue with the drivers, but I can't figure out where the drivers are and how to get them on the windows side.

When I open windows in parallels, I can't find any drivers to load on the DVD for snow leopard's boot camp.

OS X :: Cannot Reinstall The Snow Leopard Nor Install Windows With Boot Camp

Feb 13, 2010

I've been having big problems trying to solve my problem. I've checked all the posts related, tried all the solutions and still I didn't get anything, so I'm sharing my problem and hope for someone to have the solution.

I installed Windows XP with BootCamp and it was working fine.
But then the HD space of the windows partition was too small and I needed more space. So what I did was erase the partition with the Disc Utility.

But before that I wanted to test the Parallels to see if the windows 7 would work fine with it. It installed easily but I didn't like the performance of it, so I just erased it with the AppCleaner. Then I erased the BootCamp partition with Disc Utility.

But when I tried to use the Boot Camp Assistant again, it only gave me the message: "The Disk Cannot Be Partitioned Because Some Files Cannot Be Moved"I've checked the forums and it was said that probably if I use iDefrag, it would solve my problem.Once I did it, I still got the same message. Then I decided to repair the dic, so I did the verification and clicked on Repair Disc Permitions and I've got this message:
-The file SUID "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAgent" was modified and cannot be repaired.

Then I decided to reboot the whole system inserting the installation disc and pressing the C button, but all I get is a white screen and no response. And sometimes the Macbook not even start properly (also having only the white screen and no response), so I need to press the Option button till the Mac HD icon appears and I can access the computer.

And now I really without any option and I wanted to install the windows.

Windows On Mac :: Setup Boot Camp - Partitioning Disk

Apr 7, 2009

I setup boot camp yesterday and it messed up, blue screen of death, unresponsive, etc. I deleted the partition and I tried making a new one. 40GB out of my 250GB (173 Free). I got a error that said i needed to restore my system, i do not have a external hard drive and i couldn't do that. Then i figured out what this error means:I read it has something to do with not having enough memory, where i have to defrag something, basically it was a long explanation but it made sense (I just deleted a 50GB file). So i was able to make a 5GB partition, and i'm like, "Ok, it works, ill try a 32". I tried a 32 partition and it just sits at "Partitioning Disk". If i open disk utility i can see

I tried with another game (Fallout 3), same thing. Today I tried re-installing xp without installing the drivers etc from the snow leopard disc. This time, both games installed fine. But without the extras from the snow leopard disc, I can't play them.

Software :: Install Windows XP On Leopard For Boot Camp?

Jan 30, 2010

I know this is my first post, but I had no where else to go on the internet.

My problem is, I was trying to install Windows XP on Leopard for boot camp. Something went wrong and now it gives a message saying "no bootable device".

Its almost like its confused to where its booting from. So now, it won't boot past the white screen with the apple logo - that doesn't even appear! Its a grey screen that goes to a black screen which reads that message. I can't get into OSX.

I think I may of partitioned the drive and whiped the computer clean, but being a casual computer person I have no idea what to do.

I have my original Mac OSX disc that came with the computer.

Windows On Mac :: Boot Camp 3.2 Update Uninstalls Boot Camp On 2006?

Nov 21, 2010

In retrospect, I should have ignored it when Apple Software Update told me about the Boot Camp 3.2 upgrade for my 2006 Mac Pro running x64 Win 7 ultimate. When I ran it, it overwrote my blue tooth driver and my keyboard stopped working. Thanks for the folks at Mac Rumors forums, I was able to go through the procedure to get it working again, and I also had to update the video driver (again) from ATI for my 3800.

So then I decide to reboot into MacOS and discover that my icon for selecting the boot disk was gone, not to mention any directory or programs in the start menu. This happen to anyone else? Do I have to downgrade to 3.1 or does anyone have a recommendation to get 3.2 working?

Windows On Mac :: Apple Drivers Not Working In Leopard / Boot Camp 2.0 On MBP

Nov 2, 2007

I got a Windows XP partition working on my MBP under Tiger and Boot Camp (Beta), but the Apple drivers for Keyboard, trackpad, IR and bluetooth did not work. The built-in keyboard and trackpad worked with default Windows drivers, but no Mac-specific key functionality (like brightness, volume, etc). I was hoping Boot Camp 2.0 in Leopard would have better drivers, but they still didn't work. I don't know if this is a MBP-specific problem or not.

IMac :: Strange I5 - Reinstall Snow Leopard - Utilize Boot Camp

Dec 16, 2009

I had a 2008 24 inch imac (3.06ghz C2D) and had some issues with it. First the hard drive failed, upon bringing it into the Apple store, they told me that they replaced the hard drive and screen (due to dust under it), however, this was not the case. What they had actually done is replace the entire unit and gave me a refurb which was previously registered to someone else (as evidenced by the registration info). A few months later, I had another issue, this time the logic board had failed and I once again had to lug this 20 pound beast through the largest mall in the city in order to get it to the Apple store (for the second time). I politely explained my discontent with this whole process, they did not inform me that the unit was a refurb and now it had failed yet again. Much to my surprise they offered me a replacement in the form of the i5 with a 1tb drive, 4 gigs of ram, the works. Now here is the problem: I was not given any of the included dvds as they do a "like-for-like" swap only. This is now an issue because I can not install Snow Leopard from the retail dvd, nor can I install Leopard from my previous iMac disks. In addition to this, I do not have the correct drivers for a boot camp install. Thus I am stuck if I ever need to reinstall Snow Leopard or if I need to utilize boot camp (which I do).

OS X :: Snow Leopard Killed My IMac And Won't Reinstall

Oct 6, 2009

After my intel iMac froze when running Snow Leopard, I was forced to restart it, and it turned out the HD was corrupted. But after erasing it and performing repair disk, everything is now ok. But since the failure it refuses to reinstall usually giving the message "an error occured when intalling Mac OS X"

For the last few, very frustrating days, I've tried everything I have read on the net: resetting PRAM, checking the HD is set as GUID, erasing and repairing the HD numeous times, performing hardware tests. Even slaughtering farm yard animals. Basically everything. And still it won't install.

I really am at my wits end, and to make matters worse, the genius bar here in Tokyo is so busy I can't get a reservation til Friday evening.

Mac Pro :: Multi-partition Setup For Boot Camp And Fusion

Mar 19, 2008

Just purchased a Mac Pro (my first Mac after being a long time PC user) and need some advice for carving up the disk partitions to run some other operating systems on an additional 500GB Seagate HDD.

I want to run Windows XP on a 100GB partition of the Seagate drive and use the addition space, about 380GB, to run Solaris and Linux for work specific simulation programs via VMware Fusion. I know I could run some Linux programs on OSX, but Im trying to keep work and personal data completely separate.

I installed XP using Boot Camp with no problem on the 100GB partition and left the rest of the disk as Free Space.

My problem is getting the Free Space partitioned so I can use it to host the other OSs running VMware Fusion. When I use the disk utility to partition the rest of the disk, it goes into Modifying Partition Map and hangs. I left it on all night and it didnt finish.

Is there an easy way to make the 380GB left on the Seagate drive usable for the OSX or do I need to do something different? Id like to avoid re-doing the Boot CampWindows layout since everything is working great on that side.

Windows On Mac :: Possibly Fatal Boot Camp Error / Unable To Boot Windows

Jul 14, 2009

In my attempt to install Windows XP via Boot Camp, I accidentally inserted an SP1 disc instead of the SP2 disc that I have. The installation proceeded to the point where it does for most who attempt this: the screen where you are prompted to press ENTER. I could not proceed and therefore restarted the iMac and held down the mouse button upon start-up to remove the CD.

HERE IS THE PROBLEM:I can not boot into OS X because the keyboard shortcuts (those that might allow me to select which partition to boot from and/or reset PRAM) seem to be disabled. Instead, a reboot always ends at a black screen with a blinking DOS-esque cursor, or the prompt: "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key."

I have attempted inserting my SP2 disc at this point, to no avail. My keyboard seems to be disabled, as if the SP1 install proceeded just enough to establish itself as the boot drive without drivers for the keyboard. I've tried using all 3 USB ports, disconnecting other USB devices. Oddly, my bluetooth mouse works to eject the CD on reboot...

OS X :: Slow Boot After Installing Windows Vista Using Boot Camp ?

This is the 1st time i got a Mac , i bought a black Macbook 2.4GHz some days ago .

I installed Windows Vista Ultimate using Boot Camp , and all went smoothly .

Only 1 prob is when restarting , i have to wait too long for the Windows to log on , i think about 1min with the black screen.

And if i want to boot in Mac OS , i have to push down the D button or the Alt, it takes quite a long time too .

So do you guys have any solution to this problem ? I want to get rid of the waiting time, way too much.

And do you know how to make my Macbook jump right in the choosing section when it starts ? ( so that i dont have to push down any button when it starts )

Windows On Mac :: Using Triple-boot 7 32-bit, 64-bit, And Snow Leopard?

Nov 15, 2009

My new 27" i7 iMac is arriving this week, and I'm trying to get everything lined up for the great awakening. Here's my situation:

My wife will use this beauty for her work during the day, and will need to use a resource-intensive, windoze-specific genomic software program that is 32-bit only. I of course will also be on it, using mostly OS X but needing to run some windoze-specific applications myself, and I can go 64-bit. I *do* have VMware Fusion 3.0 ready to go, but I'd prefer to use it with the BootCamp partitions instead of as virtual machines because this is better for my backup situation. Also, a bootable external HDD is not an option at the moment, so there's that.

So, to my question: Can I triple-boot with Win7 32-bit and 64-bit? I've read this guide but it's for XP and Vista. I have reason to believe it's possible with adequate preparation, using Disk Utility to partition the disk right away and going from there. I'm just worried about unforeseen issues. I'm thinking if it works I will somehow boot into windows and then somehow be given the option of going into 32- or 64-bit. If it doesn't, I guess I might have to go the virtual route for my 64-bit'-ness.
