Windows On Mac :: How To Divide 6GB .nrg File In Half
May 21, 2009
I just installed boot camp in FAT32 format, so I can transfer files from mac to boot camp. So I tried to move a .nrg file into the boot camp hard drive icon, from mac, but when I tried to move it, it said error code 0. Found out FAT32 has a 4gb transfer limit. My .nrg file is 6GB. So now I'm wondering if there is a way to divide the 6gb .nrg file in half?
Short Version for lazy readers: Is there a way to divide my 6GB .nrg file in half?
I was trying to install windows on my pro, and i had bootcamp chop the hard disk in half, but then my disk drive didnt read the cd so i had to download and install some file. and after i restarted i could no longer access the windows side, it just disappeared.....plus i cannot reset my hard disk, cant erase it, and i cant reinstall OS X because there is no memory left..
At the beginning of last year I bought a 3.2GHz 27" iMac. About a month ago I noticed that, within about 5 minutes of starting my computer back up from sleep the left half of the screen would flick and become darker than the lower half (about 4 clicks of the light button lower). Sometimes the screen will flick to become even darker than this (but usually it returns to the 4 clicks darker after a short while), and sometimes it returns to normal only to go darker again.
I have a MacBook Pro with the 9600gt in it. Since updating to 10.6.4 this morning 2 times while playing java games i've had the bottom half of my screen go black and most of the top half flicker. I've had to hold in the power button and reset both times. The second time I closed the screen and reopened it, the screen was black but no mouse and nothing moved.
Any advice? Would this be something to do with my graphics card or possibly some error in 10.6.4?Edit:: This is software related to 10.6.4 update and only happens when I open up a java game in a browser.
I started up iTunes, checked my email, and looked up to see the top half of my display drop about 15 shades darker than the bottom half! I called Apple Care who told me they had never heard of something like this before and advised me to call the nearest Apple Store. I did, and like Apple Care, they had never heard of this happening.
I recently got crossover games on my macbook. It works great for stand alone programs, but a few days ago i installed steam and downloaded half-life 2 on it. But now whenever I try to open steam it doesn't work. I would like to remove both steam and the all the half-life 2 files from my computer.
Well I'm running Windows XP SP2 with Boot Camp 2.1 and everything seems to be working fine, but when I'm running Empire: Total War, I have to have the quality on the lowest possible setting. Where as with Half Life (well when I ran it in Parallels this time) runs on highest quality.
Is there something I can do? I didn't think Empire: Total War was THAT graphic intensive, especially if Half Life 2 runs fine.
I have a Mac Air running Mavericks on a HFS partition and Windows 7 on a BOOTCAMP NTFS partition. I have some files that I want to read/write from/to both systems. Since OS X can't write NTFS and Windows can't write HFS either, and I don't want to use any 3rd-party tools/drivers, in OS X, I copy those files from NTFS to its HFS partition, make changes, then switch to Windows and sync them back to NTFS.
The problem is, after I copied a file from NTFS to HFS in OS X, it seemed ok. But when I switched to Windows, the very copied file in HFS partition had its size changed (bigger) although I didn't make any changes to it in OS X yet. This happens to almost every file I copied, text and binary. For those text files, I tried to open it with EditPlus in Windows and EditPlus reports the correct size on the status bar.
I downloaded the student discounted Windows 7 Professional from digital river, when I purchased it, the files came as a .iso file or a .exe file. I tried to download the .iso file (because I know I have to use disk utility and burn it onto a dvd) but when I click to download the .iso file (from the Macbook Pro) it refuses to download and text edit opens up. I have searched everywhere on how to download the .iso file but all I can pull up is how to burn the .iso file onto a dvd. What should I do?
i resived a windowes 7 pro file from a friend and the only setup file within it is an .exei would like to somehow use this file to insttall widows 7 on my mac via bootcampis there any way i can convert the .exe into .dmg or burn it as a .dmg, so it is picked up by my mac or can one only do this by way of a windows 7 dvd?
I made an image of my Windows XP laptop drive using Macrium. I can see the image file there on one of my Mac Pro's internal drives, but Im not able to select in Fusion.. Is there a way to make a Fusion VM from this image? If not, how do I go about creating a VM from my laptops's HD? I'm using Fusion 2.6.
I am aware that .exe files are designed by and for Microsoft. Are there any solutions to open a self extracting zip file with the .exe extension on an older Mac OS such as OS X Tiger?
I've got a 7.2 gig file i'm trying to move from my Mac to a Windows partition on the drive. The partition is formatted FAT32. I'm getting a error code 0, which I gather means i can't move files that big onto fat32. I'd rather not reformat the partition to something else (stuff on there that took a good while to install).
Any suggestion on how I can get the file over? I've got a lacie hard drive with chunks of space, but its currently formatted for a mac with stuff on it. Even assuming I can partition it without wiping anything, won't i face the same problem?
I have a DMG image file of XP pro - which I'd like to install and use with Parallels. How do you install from a DMG file? Or do you need to do a boot copy to a DVD - again if so, how?
I have a USB drive with a 5.25" HD in it hooked up to my mini running SL. On the USB drive, I have a file shared in the File Sharing section of System Preferences. The only option I have enabled is "Share files and folders using SMB." The machine trying to access the files is Windoze 7. After I enable file sharing on the mini, the PC can see it. But if I go for a long time, lets say overnight, if I try to access the files when I turn the PC on, it can not see the folder on the USB drive. But if I go to the mini, turn File Sharing off and immediately turn it on, the PC can see the shared folder. At first I thought it was maybe the harddrive being idled down, but it is not as I tested that theory. So what can I do to make sure the PC can see the shared folder all the time without me having to go into System Preferences all the time to turn it off/on for this to work?
I have an iso image, which contains a .exe file. The iso image is from a game that runs on windows. Once I run the iso image, wine (version 1.0) starts up, and when I run the exe file, in the process window, I see the exe file for maybe 3 seconds, and then it stops. I don't know if what I am trying to do works. Would I need to install this game some other way and then run* it using wine?
Got my first mac today, and I realised that I could hook my old comp up to my iMac to speed up the file transfer process. Being completely clueless about macs, I found and followed this tut: [URL:...] which seems to work. However when I try to access the computer it just takes ages then times out. Firewall is off on both the PC and the mac, antivirus is off on the PC.
I used the migration assistant to transfer fils from my Windows pc to my new MacBook Pro, but the transferred files only show up in a new user created by the assistant I supose and I cannot access them from my user account.how to transfer them to my user account or access them from my user account?
I've installed a 250gb WD hdd in my G4 AGP/ Graphics as a second drive. I didn't know the hdd limitations would affect a slave . Which is not a problem, what I need to know is if the half of the drive that doesn't mount will just be a waste of space. Or can it be formatted and if so, how? 500mhz, 27gb WD master hdd, 1gb pc133 ram, 250gb WD slave hdd. [URL]
I want to exchange files between MacPro and Pc windows 7 64 bit. In Mac I have partitioned my LaCie 4big Quadro with 1 partition FAT32 DOS, GPT principle. Here Mac has no problem to copy my files to this partition, but my Pc cannot read this partition. The Pc recognizes the LaCie without problems in the Disk Utility, but cannot read it. I also cannot give this disk any name ((F: etc) in the pch disk utility.
I have seen en earlier thread on the seme topic, but not the problem when the pc cant read it.
suggest two partitions, one fpr Mac and one for Pc. OK - but how do I copy files from one to another.
While my eMac is in the shop (another long story I've told elsewhere here), I am using my work PC. I was working on a short story I had not yet saved in Microsoft Works Word Processor when it said it became unresponsive and had to close. I have been searching all over the computer for traces of this unsaved file.
Under C:/Windows/Prefetch there are files from around the time I lost the document and they are "PF" files. There is even one called WKSWP.EXE-25E36596 , which gives me hope it might be related to the file I was working on. When I open it in Notepad I get gobbly goop.
I recently bought an MBA. I am using it to write books now that I am confined to bed more of the time. I have a home network with several Windows PCs, one of which has a large capacity RAID configured disk. I would like to use the Windows disk for backup.
