ITunes For Mac :: Half Screen Is Black When Watching Video In Full Screen
Sep 10, 2014As the headline says the right half of the screen turns black when watching video content in iTunes on full screen. I can see the whole picture when moving the mouse a little but as soon as the navigation bar disappears the right half of the picture disappears too. It does not matter what source it is. Both podcasts and movies work (or do not work) the same.
The problem doesn't occur for other player (VLC, XBMC etc.).
I have the latest OS (10.9.4) and iTunes (11.4). The computer is MBP 13-inch retina, late 2012 if it matters.

MacBook :: Screen Dims While Watching Full Screen Video?
Jan 14, 2009I recently had to erase and install Leopard. I then restored everything from my time-machine backup. The weird thing is, before, when watching streaming videos from the internet, the screen stayed at the same brightness, regardless of whether there was any mouse movement, or touching the keyboard, or anything. Now, if I don't do anything, the computer dims the screen, as if i wasn't watching a video.

However, I can't use my laptop when doing this, if I press full screen on the video no a separate window on the TV then click back onto my macbook screen the video exits full screen.

Oct 6, 2010Since day one, whenever I tried opening a fullscreen window whether it be Vimeo or Youtube, there is a pause of hesitation where the screen turns blank white for a second or 2 before playing the video. It's sort of annoying but is it just my computer is it like that for every mbp? #2 Whenever I try clicking on anything whether it be the maxmize, minimize, close button or dragging items around with the trackpad held down, 3 out of 5 times, it'll not respond. It was the case with my logitech optical mouse and when i'm using the track pad sometimes. Sorry for the terribly crappy video, but the part towards the end where i'm showing myself clicking is when i'm trying to close the window and its not responding to my click. I know you can hit the expansion arrows and that works, but the actual VIDEO didn't get any bigger. In 9.0.3 I'd hit the arrows and the video would fill the screen. Today on 9.1 the video stayed the same size and the black boarder filled the screen.

May 7, 2009I have a new Mini, 2.0ghz, 4gb Mushkin RAM upgrade. When I try to stream video from YouTube at fullscreen on my 22" display it will play fine for about 10-15 seconds but will then lock up. If I do command option esc. for a Force quit, the video kicks back out of fullscreen to a regular web browser, and immediately continues from where it locked up just fine. This happens in both FF and Safari. Reboot does not solve the issue.

May 12, 2010was wondering if when your watching a youtube video or anything that makes the nvidia 330m kick in do you experience a lag when hitting the full screen button? I have the graphics switcher/indicator program installed and whenever I go to full screen it goes from intel to nvidia and there is a good 1-2 second delay from clicking the button to going to full screen. If I force 330m to be on at all times the lag goes away. This seem normal? You would think Apple would have ironed out this kink. It makes my computer go from feeling snappy to slow when my netbook can full screen faster.

Mar 24, 2012When switching from the normal video window to full screen while watching a podcast in my iTunes library, the program immediately crashes. I've tried several different podcast, starting with the smaller video window, then trying to expand using the opposing diagonal arrows symbol in the bottom right corner. The result has been the same. As soon as I click on that the window screen goes black, and iTunes shuts down. I'm on a MacBook Pro 4,1 using OS 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.6 (40). Meanwhile, hope someone is working on the problem with the clickable scroll bars being inoperable.

Jan 22, 2009I currently have my MacBook hooked up to a second 20" display. My problem is that I want to play fullscreen Flash video, eg. from BBC iPlayer or direct from the BBC site, on one monitor and not have it affect what goes on on the second monitor.
Each time I open a Flash video on my MacBook monitor in fullscreen, if I then click anywhere on my second monitor, the video always falls out of fullscreen mode back into windows mode. Is there a way round this? I'd like to watch this content fullscreen but do other tasks on my other primary monitor.

Jul 21, 2009I have a Samsung 2033SW hooked up to my mac and whenever I play video full-screen on on screen (either the laptop or the samsung), the other screen blacks out. This happens whether I use VLC, RealPlayer or Quicktime. How do I set it up so that I can play full-screen video on one and still be able to use the other screen for other stuff?
I'm pretty sure it's not because there aren't enough resources because I can still play "fit-to-screen" on one screen and still have access to the other screen.

Oct 16, 2010I noticed that all the flash videos played inside Safari on my MBP were slow and choppy when switching to full screen mode. This started happening after upgrading to Flash 10.1 r85. I disabled hardware acceleration on Flash's settings, and video playback went back to normal.
What can I do to use hardware accelerated Flash, but without the slowdowns?

MacBook Pro :: Fan Very Loud / Overheats When Playing Full Screen Video Or Games
Aug 22, 2014Just purchased a MacBook Pro Retina, refurbished (because why not - the same product for a cheaper price) around a month ago. It's the 13 inch and is the model before the most recent one came out (4GB of RAM instead of 8GB - late 2013). From the very first day, playing a full-screen video on any site (be it YouTube, Facebook, etc) just makes the fan much louder than usual (so loud that you can almost hear it more over the video itself). Thought it may have been just a thing with Flash Player being buggy, but the problem has persisted for a while now. I'm not even pushing the CPU to any limits - literally playing a full-screen video on Facebook (not even in HD) makes the fan go crazy.
Just last night I tried installing Borderlands 2 and it was the same thing - FPS rate was fine, no lag, just the fan was so loud that I actually got scared for my computer and turned it off. After closing the app and checking out the fan temperature, it was at 91c.
Never happens when browsing/surfing or doing my usual work.
Should I go give it back to Apple? The thing is I start university in less than a week (and hence will be traveling), so not sure if I can afford to give my laptop in to them for a long period of time (I know it should be free though since mine is a refurb item). May it just be an issue that is quickly repairable or is this worse?

Now all that happens is the normal grey screen appears (with no Apple logo), then it goes to a black screen and has the blinking cursor (Kinda like DOS).

MacBook Pro :: Grey Screen No Apple Followed By Blue Screen With Vertical Lines?
Nov 30, 2014grey screen no apple followed by blue screen with vertical lines. Graphics and logic board replaced <6 months ago. What to do? I held down shift, it gets HOT HOT and makes noises. (for safety mode) followed by a blank grey screen and blue screen. Then tried the other way (I think it's command alt delete? I don't remember) and it turned from grey (no apple symbol) to blue blank. Then third time, grey followed by blue with vertical lines, not blocky clear lines that you can see if you are close to it.

Dec 5, 2007Thing is I got hold of a 1ghz 17" iMac almost for free, it had a dead logicboard (I checked it with a voltage-meter), but I figured I could fix it and have a small hobby project-thingie going on. Well I just got a new logic board today, for a 1ghz 17" iMac g4.
Things is I only get a bright grey screen from my Mac when I boot. I've tried connecting it to a external display and that works fine. Everything is there.
I then reinstalled Tiger on it, with the computer connected to my external screen. And I still have the same problem. (I have now disconnected the ext. screen and is controlling the iMac from my MBP). So at least it isn't the installation.
So what is the problem? I can via an Apple Keyboard control the brightness on the blank screen, which would indicate that it does react to input of some degree.
I've read that if the inverter is dead or anything else is dead, you would get a rolling grey screen, flicker or something like that and not a steady bright grey. One thing I'm thinking is. What if somehow this logic board was for a 15" 1ghz imac g4? Can I check this?
I read that long thread about guys buying hi-res displays for their MBPs, and they had to replace some display profile? Could I maybe fix it with a different display profile-file?
I'm really confused by all this, and would appreciate any help I can get.

Software :: IBook G4 Freezing Before Login Screen / Grey Screen With The Apple And The Spinning Circle?
May 20, 2009before I went to bed, I was playing the Sims 2, when my iBook G4 crashed. Our power cord can be a bit dodgy, so sometimes that happens. I didn't really think about it much, just closed the laptop and went to sleep.Last Monday morning, I opened it and pressed the power button. It began turning on, and got as far as the grey screen with the apple and the spinning circle. And then it just froze. The circle stopped turning.
I freaked out a bit, and restarted it a bunch of times, each time with the same result. (One time it stopped spinning, and then told me a restart was required. Huh. The rest of the times the exact same thing happened though.) I even tried unplugging and removing the battery, but it made no difference. So eventually I just shut it and decided to try again later.Last Tuesday I opened it and pressed the power button without much hope, and again the apple and circle came up just fine, then stopped, but then a bunch of words and numbers popped up.I'm a complete computer noob, but they don't look good to me... or are they good?
