I've looked around and apparently everyone's saying their macbook air runs really cool. The problem is, mines always warm... It usually doesn't get hot unless I'm watching a full screen video, but it's always warm. Is this normal? mention I have the 13 inch base model.
View 9 RepliesAs the headline says the right half of the screen turns black when watching video content in iTunes on full screen. I can see the whole picture when moving the mouse a little but as soon as the navigation bar disappears the right half of the picture disappears too. It does not matter what source it is. Both podcasts and movies work (or do not work) the same.
The problem doesn't occur for other player (VLC, XBMC etc.).
I have the latest OS (10.9.4) and iTunes (11.4). The computer is MBP 13-inch retina, late 2012 if it matters.

View 7 Replies View Relatedwas wondering if when your watching a youtube video or anything that makes the nvidia 330m kick in do you experience a lag when hitting the full screen button? I have the graphics switcher/indicator program installed and whenever I go to full screen it goes from intel to nvidia and there is a good 1-2 second delay from clicking the button to going to full screen. If I force 330m to be on at all times the lag goes away. This seem normal? You would think Apple would have ironed out this kink. It makes my computer go from feeling snappy to slow when my netbook can full screen faster.

The weird thing is, before, when watching streaming videos from the internet, the screen stayed at the same brightness, regardless of whether there was any mouse movement, or touching the keyboard, or anything. Now, if I don't do anything, the computer dims the screen, as if i wasn't watching a video.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung 2033SW hooked up to my mac and whenever I play video full-screen on on screen (either the laptop or the samsung), the other screen blacks out. This happens whether I use VLC, RealPlayer or Quicktime. How do I set it up so that I can play full-screen video on one and still be able to use the other screen for other stuff?
I'm pretty sure it's not because there aren't enough resources because I can still play "fit-to-screen" on one screen and still have access to the other screen.

What I would like to do is be able to browse on one monitor while watching video files full screen on another monitor. Is this possible? If so what do I need to do to make it so the smaller monitor doesn't go black once I enter full screen on the larger monitor?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an older MacBook Pro (1,1 first gen, Intel Core Duo, 2006). It's slowly dying, I think. What I'm wondering about are these lines that are appearing/disappearing on the screen. I think it may be a sign that the video card is going out. The lines are horizontal bands that appear often when I'm watching video. Occasionally they'll appear while scrolling or loading a webpage. They're usually quite thin, although it does appear to be getting worse. Does anyone know what this would be? Is it safe to assume a dead logic board is in my future? I videotaped it occurring here, in case you're interested (17 sec).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a last gen. white macbook. I was watching a youtube video today and firefox shut down. When it restarted it shutdown again. I decided to restart my computer. When it was restarting, a message popped up saying I needed to restart by holding down the power button. After pushing the power button the screen went black. I then pushed the power button again and my computer made this horrible beeping noise until I pressed the power button again. In doing this process more than once the mac start up "chord Bing" happened over and over until I pressed the power button. I got the comp turned off and let it sit for an hour or so. It started up fine. I downloaded google chrome and when trying to change some settings the "restart your comp by holding down the power button" message came up. When restarting the crazy beep came back. Now everything seems fine but while typing the comp made the noise like it wants to eject a cd.

Being a broke college student I'm a little confused on what software I should get.
Should I buy MS Office for the Mac or just run it through Window's?
I have a copy of Window's 7 and MS Office small business for pc.
Is that going to be a pain in the butt to do my homework and manage office files on my Mini if I have to run it through Window's on the Mini?I guess I don't understand what to expect. Is it like dual booting a pc, like how I use my pc with Linux and Windows?
Also what do I do with all my documents, pics, mp3's etc.... when I make the switch?Can I put them on a thumb drive and just transfer them over to the Mac or won't that work?I would prefer to keep my music collection in MP3 format, seeing how it's all been painstakingly ripped using" exact audio copy with lame encoding". I received my 11.6 base model Air today. So far everything has rocked about it except for one thing: web surfing. When it loads up pages it jitters when I scroll or will lag on my input. I'm thinking this could either be my WiFi connection, which is my parent's and I'm not use to these speeds, or if the Air is just not that good for web work.
View 15 Replies View RelatedMy November 2011 17" MacBook Proi has on several occasions gone to a black screen, which requires hard shutdown and re-boot. It happens in two ways: coming out of sleep, the screen appears for a second and then goes black, and sometimes when jjust using the Mac.
It comes back on after re-boot with no apparent problems but seems to be occuring more frequently, so I need to get this fixed.

I have a friend who is looking to buy a new MB Pro 15". Can the base 15" model w/ the integrated NVIDIA video handle Photoshop, or should she go the next step up with the dedicated video card? I am not a Photoshop user, so I don't feel I could give her a credible recommendation.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have an airport base station that was setup and working properly in my home office. I change locations within my home and now it will not work correctly. Literally, all I did was unplug and plug everything back in. The internet connection is working fine. I plugged it directly into the computer and it works.
I got frustrated and reset it back to factory defaults and reinstalled it and now it still doesn't work.
I can get the internet to work through the ethernet port, if I set the ip to 10.0.1.1
However, I cannot get the airport to work at all. I did notice that the ip when it sets it automatically, was a 169 ip.
So I've never owned a mac computer before but after enjoying my iphone 4 and ipad 3g I think I'm jumping ship from windows. I just have a few questions and I'd appreciate any answers I could get. Will the base model be sufficient for my needs? Mainly going to be web browsing and using it as a media station with iTunes. The only thing I'm not sure of is ripping blu-rays. How long would it take to do a 1080p rip on the base model iMac and would the base model be sufficient enough to play back these rips? I'm currently having issues on my hp laptop even playing back 720p blu-ray rips.

Well I didnt' read the fine print and BAZINGA! I noticed that it comes without a video card.

Since day one, whenever I tried opening a fullscreen window whether it be Vimeo or Youtube, there is a pause of hesitation where the screen turns blank white for a second or 2 before playing the video. It's sort of annoying but is it just my computer is it like that for every mbp? #2 Whenever I try clicking on anything whether it be the maxmize, minimize, close button or dragging items around with the trackpad held down, 3 out of 5 times, it'll not respond. It was the case with my logitech optical mouse and when i'm using the track pad sometimes. Sorry for the terribly crappy video, but the part towards the end where i'm showing myself clicking is when i'm trying to close the window and its not responding to my click. Again, this is the case with both when i'm using a usb powered mouse and my trackpad. [URL]

View 4 Replies View RelatedLet me start by saying it was really early this morning when I tried, but I couldn't find the "full screen" setting for video. I know you can hit the expansion arrows and that works, but the actual VIDEO didn't get any bigger. In 9.0.3 I'd hit the arrows and the video would fill the screen. Today on 9.1 the video stayed the same size and the black boarder filled the screen.
