MacBook Pro :: Getting Picture But No Sound When Connected To Sony TV Via HDMI Cable
Aug 23, 2014Mac Book Pro retina ( OS X 10.9.4 ) 10 months old; Apple Tv 10 months old connected to Sony TV . Get picture but no sound. I then connected Mac Book to Sony TV via a HDMI cable. Again picture but no sound. Rebooted Mac Book tried again, no success.

May 10, 2009I recently received a late 2007 mac mini as a hand me down from my parents and I'm trying to hook it up to a Sony HDTV via HDMI to DVI cable. I bought the cables I needed and attempted to set it up, however when I turn on the system nothing appears on the display. I've been searching posts and various forums, but haven't really made any progress because most troubleshooting guides are focused upon display problems like pixels and refreshes.
Unfortunately I don't have a VGA monitor to use (which is what the mini was previously used on) to try and see if that works.

The camcorder has a Mini DV Firewire jack on it (I think this is called a 4-pin connector sometimes too). But on the Mac Mini, I can't tell if I need a 6-pin or a 9-pin. Can someone point me to a good cable so I can dump some MiniDV tapes into iMovie?

Apr 28, 2012I have attached my Mac mini to my Sony TV (to use as a moniter) - there hasn't been any trouble with the picture but I cannot get any sound.
I am using a VGA (I know that doesn't send audio over) plugged into the 'PC In' port at the back of my tv, and I am using an audio cable with a normal headphone-type jack on one end (going into the headphone port on the back of my mac mini) and the red/white cable going into the HDMI-in red/white ports on the back of my tv. I can't figure out what is going on - I tried plugging the red/white cables into all the input ports on the back of my tv, just in case, but no luck.

Same problem with several downloaded "XAVCHD to ProRes 4.2.2" conversion programs and Sony's "playmemories home" Seems to me that the file names are suspect to internal Mac firewalls?

I want to use a firewire cabe to transfer files, using Migration Assistant, from my Power Mac G4 (AGP Graphics) with a Firewire port that has a 400 Mb/sec Speed. My question is what cable do I need? Is there a standard one or do I need a special cable to work between the two ports?

I now have the correct cable and need to use migration asst. to transfer the iTunes library and files. I tried once but ran into problems. I am transferring from an iMac running Leopard that has 4 user accts. The problem I had is that it tried to transfer all accounts! All I want is the iTunes library from his account and a few folders from his desktop. What do I select when prompted during the migration? Would it be easier to erase the hard drive and reinstall SNL from the cd and use migration asst. from the beginning? I have installed MS Office 08 and I can reinstall that as well.

Jun 29, 2007I have been trying to convince my Dad to get an iMac for himself for about 2 years. Right now he uses a 5 and 1/2 year old HP and it is draggin'. Anyways, he finally decided to get a mac (probably b/c he likes my mbp so much ) Well, tonight we realized that his Sony DCR-SR82 60GB Handycam Camcorder is not compatible with a mac. I guess Sony uses "muxed" video which means it is mixed together instead of having seperate video and audio tracks. I have got the run around from a whole bunch of sites and I need help.
