View 3 RepliesI want to capture selections on my screen and add comments. Is there a program out there that will allow me to do that? I don't like the "grab it" program because it saves the captured file in a Tiff format instead of a Jpeg format.

Does anyone know the best program I can use to video screen capture the pc, that is professional, and not expensive? Or any methods of preparing it for FCP?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with Image Capture not recognizing all the files on my camera (and recognizing photos that have long since been deleted). So I just took a few pictures to test out and see if I could get it to work right. I plugged in my camera and opened up image capture. I clicked download all. It downloaded two pictures that are not even on my camera (I double checked to make sure) and they were deleted weeks ago. And it's not recognizing the pictures I just took. There are about 23 pictures and it's not recognizing any of them just the two pictures that were deleted a while back. What's going on here? I'm new to Mac by the way.

My screen capture isn't working. If I press Shift+Control+Command+3, then I hear the usual "picture taking" sound, but no file ever appears.
does anyone know of a program I can use to change .m4a files (what itunes rips cd's into) into .mp3? I'm trying out a different music playing program, but it doesn't support .m4a's, which is what most of my music is...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a program which is a .exe file and won't obviously load on my Mac, but I have no clue how to open it. I tried using crossover but it doesn't work, didn't really think it would considering its not a installation file, just a program. So basically does anyone know how I can open this program without having to install Windows on my Mac? Or is there a way to open it using crossover?

View 24 Replies View RelatedNot so much for Apple Software update, but when re-installing OS X after sometime, smaller programs like Perian or firefox install, then come up with an update. I like to keep the install files for my programs handy, and the usual method is to find the developer site and download the newest version, but when it updates itself, it downloads the new version, then automatically launches it.
I'd like to know where it downloads to so I can just take that file and store it, rather than having to go to the site all and re-download it. I've looked around but can't seem to find any place that it would go, so I assume it's some hidden temp folder or something. I remember on Windows it was some temp folder in the Windows system folder (at least for the Service packs and other WindowsUpdate items).
I do not have any programs like App Zapper. I may have deleted one or two apps by dragging them to the trash. Is there a program that seeks out unused files that may have been associated with those apps. I do not remember which apps they were though.

I found this program called Tidy UP! and it appears to be very good. But before I go through and starting massive deletions, I wanted some feedback as to what programs people use to find and delete their oldest duplicate files.
I was on a Plane organizing my files and evidently never sync'd back up fully from the hotel before getting back home and using my iMac. So now I have a big mess to clean up.
Anyone know of a stable program to let me edit wmv together? I use quicktime pro for the quicktime files but need a similar solution for the windows media files.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any program that will smartly back up my files? For example, I have all my music backed up to my external, but every month or so i have a couple new bands, albums in, that I don't really remember. So basically I want a program that will scan both folders, find what files are missing in the external and copy only those files over.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a program that can find duplicate files. What my questions is if I get an email from someone and then I forward it to someone now I have a duplicate one in my inbox and another in my sent. If I delete the one in my sent then when I open it the attachment will not show. Is there a way for it to just store the file once and then create an alias pointing to the main file.
Another example: If I attach a photo from iPhoto to an email there again is another duplicate. I would much rather Mail send the photo and create an alias to the original photo in iPhoto thus creating no duplicates.
I hope that was not confusing.
I want a program that will find duplicates and then keep 1 and create alias's for the one's deleted.
I know this is not all cases of duplicate files but mainly my Mail has way to many duplicates.
Any suggestions?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhere can I find the original program download files that I have downloaded off the net so I can burn them to disc and just load them up when I do a fresh install instead of searching again etc.
Also my friend does not have internet so I was going to do him a copy etc.
I have a bunch of music on my computer that isn't properly named, like for instance:
Flo Rida - Right Round is named: right round flo rida.
This is cause I didn't care before and now I do. I also have a lot of videos on my computer, mostly personal, that I'd like to rename. I tried doing it one by one (hitting enter/return key, then changing the name) but it's taking to long.
Is there a program that I can do it? Sorry if this was discussed already, not quite sure what to search.
I've been burnt a few times downloading NZB files with an end result of an error ."article missing". Is there a program for mac users that can validate the the NZB file before downloading? I know windows has something like this (for example see below)

I just switched over from a PC a couple of days ago and I am getting used to my new Macbook Pro, and MAC OS X. However I have run into a problem I have no idea how to fix, or what's wrong.
I have the "Switching to the Mac" book from the Missing Manuals series, and throughout the book it mentions wonderful keyboard shortcuts that can be used for a variety of things. The problem is that most of them do not seem to work. For example, Control-F4 is apparently meant to cycle through all open windows, only it does nothing on my computer. This is true of many of the shortcuts I have tried. I tried to search the forums here but haven't found an answer, nor has googling turned up anything useful.
Also, I was using a program called Syncback to sync my flash drive with a folder on my hard drive before, and that program is not available for macs, so I have been looking for a replacement. I tried Rsync, but it didn't seem to work - only syncing some of the files in the specified folder. Does anyone know of a freeware program for synchronization of files that is good?
