can someone tell me a way to monitor ALL my internet usage per/month or spesific dates. I have looked at some widgets, but none of them do a good job. Please keep in mind that I connect via wireless, USB based 3G modem and ethernet. But I also browse/copy/move files on my local network. So I need true internet usage not including network traffic.

If they have a quad core machine then there are four columns with blue in it showing the usage. Where can I find this in OS X, or is this a 3rd party program?

I have just successfully tethered my Nokia 5800 to my MBP and its working great... just one question, is there some way to monitor (maybe like a widget?) how much data i have upped and downloaded?
The reason i ask is because i have a package that allows me 1gig of traffic a month, after which there are some stupid rates *per day* of usage and the speed will be throttled as well.
I'm looking for an app that monitors my network usage. Currently, I use iStat Pro, but that "forgets" the "Total In" value upon reboot.
I want to monitor my network activity over a month or so, to see what my average usage per month / day is.
Is there any app that keeps the progress?
I have a 24 and 27 iMac. I would like to use the 24 as a second monitor. Specific cable? Any outside applications necessary?
View 12 Replies View Relatedit is normal for network usage to spike every so often in activity monitor when I am not using anything on my mac, and don't have any apps open? For example, if I open up activity monitor, click on the network tab at the bottom, i'll get a little spike in data received every so often, maybe every 20-30 seconds, usually 50-200 bytes, nothing big... Occasionally there will be a little red spike for data sent mixed in there too, about the same size, every once in a while.

I was banned for the first time 5 min ago and I realized a badly need a software that alerts me when I get to, let's say, 4gb and then stops the network when I get close to the limit. When I use Netflix, I understand that my usage can increased dramtically, but when I don't, how can I explain my usage ? My ISP tells me that he cannot give me any clue, because my usage is confidential.
What can I do about that ? Can I install a software to check this and to be sure that nobody else is using my internet connection ?

No i'm not a little kid or anything, besides nobody would give a little kid a laptop. i have an v10.5.7 2 Ghz intel core 2 duo macbook. I don't know how my parents are automatically turning off the internet at exactly 8 pm then turning it on at 8 am. And it is just my laptop because my brother can connect to the same network after 8. How is she doing this and is there a way to connect? also, if i restore my laptop to factory settings, would it change the IP address?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a functioning network with a Mac Pro (primary box), Mac Mini, 3 Dells, 2 wireless IBM laptops and 2 wireless netbooks all connecting either wired or wirelessly through my Airport Extreme and an ethernet switch. Everything works well UNTIL I boot up and plug in my aging Gateway tower. It works fine and boots up nicely but when I plug it in to the network, it's cpu usage stat jumps immediately to 100% and it kills internet access for itself and to my other machines through the Airport even though the Airport's light is happily blinking green. Its been under my desk for a couple years but I'd like to retrieve the contents of it's hard drive via Fusion before I give it away.
I know its a Mac forum but maybe an Airport setting??

Since I've started using it, my Internet connection has slowed to a crawl. I've researched the issue online and external monitors can apparently created wireless interference. I'm using a 2011 AirPort Extreme 802.11n/b/g. Is there anything I can do to eliminate this interference?

As you can it has space, but only the last few weeks of backup. I've had time machine running for about one year.

If you enter 'The Bluejacks Duo @ The Walkabout, Cardiff UK' it works fine and displays all text.
I am convinced this is a bug but it has never been fixed and noone else seems to be mentioning it.
Am I totally dense, or is there no way to edit AM/PM for an event from the "Month" view pop-up in iCal? And also no option in iCal to use a 24-hour clock? Doesn't this make the month view mostly useless, since you never know if the times are AM or PM?

View 10 Replies View RelatedNo hourly backups to an external USB2 drive. It did the initial backup and manual backups fine. Just no hourly. Says it's going to do the next backup, that time passes and it does nothing. No errors reported, just no backups. Click to "Backup Now" and it does so happily.

I got a new Macbook Air and took it on a month-long trip, leaving my 2008 MB at home, discharged. It has all my old files, not backed up. I didn't think this would happen! The charging light shows green and never changes to amber. None of the indicator lights are on and there is no response at all to pushing power, even after hours of charging. I tried taking out the battery, no difference.
