itunes keeps opening on my computer. i am quitting. not just hitting the red button. and also there isn't a cd in my computer or anything. have restarted. i will quit and then with in 2 mins it will have reopened.. its getting kinda annoying. because i have been trying to figure it out for days.
View 3 RepliesHere is my problem, iTunes does not open for me. It bounces for a while, and stops bouncing, but does not open. I open the Force Quit window, and it says iTunes is open, even though iTunes does not have a shining circle next to it. I force quit it, and after about 5 minutes, iTunes is gone from the Force Quit window. I tried removing the preferences and receipts for iTunes, reinstalling iTunes, repairing permissions, and repairing my hard drive, but nothing seems to work. iTunes does work on a different account on my computer, so the problem must be with my account.
I am using Mac OS X 10.5.8 and iTunes 9.1.1.
Just recently, iTunes has started to open every time I switch on my computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife is having an issue with her Macbook. The screen works great, when it comes on. However, 80% of the time, when she opens the laptop, she has to jiggle the screen back and forth to get it to come on. Sometimes it takes several minutes.
Any idea what that could be and what the solution would be? Could it just be a loose connection somewhere?
I run a MBP early 2008 2.5 Penryn. I have 6GB OWC RAM and a 500GB Hitachi HDD. I run SL 10.6.2. From time to time, Safari freezes my computer for a time between a few seconds up to about 15 seconds, when I open a new tab with "CMD+T" or a new window with "CMD+N". As the whole computer freezes during this time, it is pretty annoying.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI asked a previous question (don't know whether you can see the last ticket as it is now closed) when my imac suddenly crashed and wouldn't boot. The problem seemed to be resolved by typing /sbin/fsck/ -fy after pressing Apple + S after powering up. All seemed to be working fine except EyeTV wouldn't load/
I assumed it was the usb stick that caused it as the light wouldn't even appear and have purchased a new version. Receiving it i still seem to be having the same problem. Most times it crashes with only the icon bouncing in the dock then disappearing. Although i did manage to load it once and get through the eyetv setup stages with a live picture in the background although it then crashed after i closed the setup window and now can't get anywhere again

Another point is that i can't seem to reset permissions in disk utility. It starts and comes up saying estimated time less than a minute but then freezes
Just wondered what i should do as it seems to be a fault with the imac now and i really haven't got a clue how to get it going (if it's even possible).
I hate in Lion how when I restart my computer, all of the applications I had open before reopen. Can I turn that off? It takes start up forever. I've seen how to uncheck "Restore windows when quitting and reopening apps" and I've uncheck that, but it doesn't work for this case. I just want to start up like normal and I pick the apps I want to open at the time

I just got a MacBook Air and transferred all my data from my old Macbook Pro last week. My microsoft office will not open. It opens the M.O. set-up assistant and I run through the steps and check for new updates, install the updates, and then it doesn't open the program. I try to click on the program again, and it runs me through the set-up assistant and updates everytime.

When I open my macbook, the screen remains black (as though it's in sleep mode). Adjusting the brightness always fixes this problem, but this is a temporary fix. The brightness is not at zero when I adjust it after opening, often I need to dim the screen to reactivate it.
This problem is not: related to *clamshell mode*related to unintentionally dimming the screen. related to any of the settings in the Energy Saving panel in system preferences
Extra info: The computer seems as though it doesn't actually enter sleep mode when I close the computer.I don't think there are any processes running that would prevent sleep mode. I really just want the computer to go to sleep properly when I close the screen and more importantly, that it wake-up when opened, or at least when a button is pushed aside from the brightness buttons.

I have all my music on an external HD that I've used for a few years. I told my old computer (1GHz TiBook G4 with Tiger) to export my iTunes library, which it did, as a .xml file. Then, I opened that file on my new iMac, and only about 1/5 of the songs were found, apparently. This doesn't make sense to me, as the iMac is connected to the HD when I import the old library. If it makes a difference, the TiBook was NOT connected to the HD when I exported the library. I have the two computers networked together via Ethernet right now, though.

ya tried to open itunes this morning but its not opening.

i put 1 cd in it last night and before that it worked,
i tried just deleting that cd and seeing if it works, but got nothing.

So how do I find out what process is launching iTunes while I'm busy doing other things?Â
For instance, I could be watching a youtube video without my hands on my mac or any peripherals connected, when suddenly focus switches from the browser because iTunes has decided to launch again. I keep my itunes library on an external drive, so iTunes also complains that it can't find the library, which is reasonable. It's more annoying when I'm busy coding and suddenly my focus is stolen and itunes suddenly appears.Â
It's been happening on and off since I bought my Air (in late 2011), so it's certainly not specific to the OS or the version of iTunes. I imagine some other process is causing it to launch - I'd like to find that other app and squash it. Some log file? Some oddball terminal command I can't remember? "What is the process that launches another process?"

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm still learning new things with my MBP. I have some mp3s placed on the desktop and I know there's a play arrow in the middle and I can play them. Well I stumbled upon a way to play the song without iTunes opening, but it had what looked like a real music player with play, FF, RW. I'm guessing I used some finger gesture to get it to do that, anybody know how I can recreate it? I tried searching, but can't figure it out. As I said, still learning all the cool tricks with the Mac! Anyways, to clarify, it did NOT open iTunes, but had an mp3 player. Also, it was not quicktime player. It was bigger than just a tiny rectangle with RW, Play, and FF. No software was opened, but there was still a big rectangular box that opened.

It doesn't matter what I do- It's not the iTunes dashboard widget because I removed it, I turned off the iTunes helper app so it doesn't start up with the computer, and it keeps opening up and playing music for no reason.
