Software :: Where Are Saved Colors Stored
Sep 2, 2009
At the bottom of the color picker, there's a grid where you can save colors. It's actually an expandable "drawer" that can be pulled down, allowing you to save dozens and dozens of colors. I had done this and had accumulated a sizable palette of colors that I need.Well, I just upgraded to a new Mac Pro, and although I copied over quite a few settings, my saved colors are nowhere to be found.I still have my previous machine intact, so I simply need to know which document (a preference file?) houses our saved colors. Does anyone know?

So at first I thought my eyes were going. But I guess not. Sometimes when I scroll macrumors things start to fade when I let go of the scroll bar. Clicking other window corrects this. Or moving it to my other screen. Any ideas? Is this another x1900 issue?

Everything is now gray in the menu when I open up my mac home drive in os 10.7. Why? Why change a good thing? Now when I glance over at the menu of 'Favorites', 'Shared' and 'Devices', all the icons a gray and it doesn't help when finding specific drives and folders, especially when adding attachments to email. They used to be easy to discern with different colors. There is nothing in "view options" to change these to colors, and I have found nothing in System Preferences to change them.

Yesterday I have noticed slight change of colors on my iMac 27 inch monitor. The change was really subtle but newer the less important. I'm an illustrator and I use subtle textures and brushes in my work. Yesterday suddenly, those textures were not subtle on some pictures on my web site but really noticeable. Especially on black on black textures (when you have different shades of black/gray). I thought that the mistake is coming from Safari browser, but the same thing was visible on the Chrome too and when I opened same pictures like jpeg with Preview or Photoshop. After that I noticed that generally all display was slightly brighter, slightly more bluish. I didn't do anything unusual to make it that way. Today, after putting iMac to sleep and turn it up again the colors are like they used to be and it seems that problem is solved. I would like to know what went wrong with the display/monitor, because I have worked all day yesterday on my illustrations with wrong display of colors and now I will have to correct them today.I have run Profile first aid with ColorSinc but result was that everything was ok, no problem find.

I recently purchased an iMac so I can do image capturing. I had previously been using a PC and moved to the Mac. The software I have been using has a Mac and PC version. When I do my projects, it saves a temporary image file to the User's Temp directory as a jpeg on the PC. I have attempted to contact the software developers to ask them where on the Mac it stores this file and they have not gotten back to me. I am curiously if anyone can point me in the direction of where to find this temporary image file. I realize that Mac's stored images as .png not jpeg but I am getting no response from the company's devolper and I use this file for my projects.

Say I have downloaded and compiled pngcrush and want to make it so that I can access it from terminal simply by typing pngcrush bla bla bla instead of having to specify the path to it? Unlike say wget, I can't "sudo make install" pngcrush.

I just can't get over how all the macs are the dull grey/silver color when as proven with the iPods, they can in fact make aluminum in multiple colors very easily. So why not haul in a new black Macbook pro? Or other colors? I would just like to know why they wouldn't as it would be a great marketing tactic to release the "New Macbook Air Black" just after the new release about a month ago. And there's supposedly new releases approaching for January (strictly a rumor), and this would be very cool to everybody else and would bring in a lot more potential people over to macs, because as I know from experience, those with no knowledge of what a processor is want to go for the "shiny" one. And now its the "shiny" one in more than one color.

What would be a good way, if possible, to change the colors and such of the icons in my dock? I wanna make them all black and white, with some splashes of red in there. Also, any other parts of my OS that I could customize to the same color scheme would be nice. I have Leopard, 10.5.2, if you need that info.

It seems that in his nasty habit of taking naps while resting a body part on the keyboard, he has managed to press some obscure key combination that has inverted the colors on my screen (like a color photograph negative). I've searched everywhere to try to revert this, but had no luck so far. When I restart, and/or log out and back in again, the screen is normal during the booting sequence till I choose the account I want to log in with, then it immediatly goes into "x-ray" mode. If I choose another account, it will boot and log in with no screen problem whatsoever. So this must be either a preference option has been changed via keyboard command or the account is corrupted. Right?

I've had a new LED display since Christmas, and it's been perfect thus far. Until about five minutes ago.
About five minutes ago I noticed it shift color, as if it was switching a color profile. It was faint but definitely noticeable. I watched it and kept surfing for a few minutes and noticed it shift back and forth arbitrarily several more times in a five minute time span.
The monitor is plenty warm in the bottom left behind, as it's been on for about 4-5 hours now.
I've never noticed this effect before. Anyone else noticed this, and does Apple know about it?

I have a shared HP F2230 all-in-one attached to my mac running leopard 10.5.5. I have been printing regular MS Word black and white documents fine from my other Windoze vista / 7 Beta computers. Tried to print a colored photo but the colors are inaccurate and all the blacks turn into purple! This happens regardless of the application in windows (Paint, MS publisher, and even printer test page!) I tried to print the same photo in the mac and had no problem. I attached a photo of the print out from my windows 7 beta machine.
Tried to reinstall drivers, restart printer, restart mac, but it didn't work.

I have a copy of Sim City classic, I tried installing on my MBP, no classic/can't lower the screen resolution low enough. I picked up a Power Mac 5500/225 from work, figuring it would do the trick. I can't get the graphics any lower then 256, the game wants 16! It also has a black and white game, but even after I turned the monitor to black and white, restarted, still didn't see it as two tone. I love the original version of the game, and even though I know people claim you can play on the Maxis site, they never send me a log in, no matter how many times I try

My Mac Book Pro Mid 2009 (nVIDIA M9400) is showing the wrong colors. Some grey colors are displayed brighter then they should be displayed. They look whiter. If I take a screenshot and display this picture on another screen, the colors are displayed correctly. The I've tried to calibrate the colors. That didn't solve the problem. I also tried to reset the PRAM with pressing CMD+ALT+P+R while booting. No effect. Also I installed the drivers from nVIDIA again. The only method, that worked right now is starting a game, which changes the screen resolution etc. After closing the game, the Mac is showing the colors correct.

Not so much for Apple Software update, but when re-installing OS X after sometime, smaller programs like Perian or firefox install, then come up with an update. I like to keep the install files for my programs handy, and the usual method is to find the developer site and download the newest version, but when it updates itself, it downloads the new version, then automatically launches it.
I'd like to know where it downloads to so I can just take that file and store it, rather than having to go to the site all and re-download it. I've looked around but can't seem to find any place that it would go, so I assume it's some hidden temp folder or something. I remember on Windows it was some temp folder in the Windows system folder (at least for the Service packs and other WindowsUpdate items).
