I have a shared HP F2230 all-in-one attached to my mac running leopard 10.5.5. I have been printing regular MS Word black and white documents fine from my other Windoze vista / 7 Beta computers. Tried to print a colored photo but the colors are inaccurate and all the blacks turn into purple! This happens regardless of the application in windows (Paint, MS publisher, and even printer test page!) I tried to print the same photo in the mac and had no problem. I attached a photo of the print out from my windows 7 beta machine.
Tried to reinstall drivers, restart printer, restart mac, but it didn't work.
I have the 9C9E display. Is this a good one? Also, the colors on MacRumors look purple, where on my moms 2.4 Macbook they looked blue. Especially the thread links. What do I do?
Enjoying the speed of my new iMac i3 but the colors just seem way off compared to my older MBP. Perfect example is going to craigslist where the text is blue on my MBP but on my iMac the text looks purple. What is wrong here and what can I do to correct this?
1. Today, I turned on my MacBook running 10.5.7 bought in the Summer of 2006 and the colors were washed out/faded. They were noticeably more bluish-purple. This is the third time it happened over the past year, so it is incredibly hard to replicate for a genius. A restart fixed the issue. I did not mess with the color schemes (I actually don't even know how to use them), nor have I dropped my laptop in the past three years I have owned it. Anyone know what is the issue here? I'm pretty sure it's hardware-related. I am concerned because my AppleCare is expiring this coming September, and I don't know how to replicate the problem.
2. Also, after a good period of nonuse, one-fourth of my screen (the lower left corner) is noticeably "darker" after I turn it on. The area goes back to its correct brightness after 10-15 minutes, like the screen has to warm up first. I've had this problem since I first purchased the unit but this dark spot has definitely gotten bigger. Is this normal for a laptop?
3. Coconut battery says that I have only gone through 4 battery cycles. I've calibrated the battery and the program still says the same thing. The battery I replaced quite a while ago did not have this problem.
What is the significance of the purple and green colours when I put music to my project? I am able to edit the "green" music but NOT the purple music. Is it possible to do panarama/photomerge in iPhoto?
I have a PDF that I scanned in myself and the first time I printed it it printed just the way it was supposed to. The next time I opened up the file in preview it looked normal on my screen but when I went to print it the output in the printer had the colors inverted. I have tried printing from preview and adobe acrobat and it printed the same the blacks came out white and the whites came out black. So I tried printing it from a windows computer and the file printed as it should, the colors were normal not inverted.
I am using a new CANON MX882. When I print using the Canon easy photo software the print turn out perfect. However when I print from Aperture or Photoshop Elements the pictures turn out with the colors blown out and overexposed. I have the lates drivers availabe from Canon which they say is compatible works with 10.7. I have tried using the printer manament or the software and it doesn't make any difference.
Whenever I'm searching for a file and I use 'last opened date' as one of the options, it presents files that I know I didn't open within that timeframe (and I'm the only user here) as well as not including files I know I opened.
Any ideas? I don't know if something indexing my files is causing this, I do use Launchbar, but I can't imagine that's it?
I haven't seen the sun all day. Not only that, but I can hear thunder, see lightning and judging by the very dark shade of the clouds around my house, I can pretty much say it's damn sure about to start pouring. What I'm getting at is that this widget has shown nothing but sunshine all day and all night tonight. The temperatures seem to be close, but that's about it. Just curious if anyone else noticed any inaccuracy with this Accuweather widget.
screen share with another Mac on the network that I've recently setup to be a server. When I try logging in, with 'iMac' as the name and 'password' as the password, it says that the details are inaccurate, yet I'm fine to login to view folders. The Mac I'm using to login runs Leopard (lates updates) and the other uses Tiger (latst updates), but still, I'm fine to connect to another Mac using Tiger to share the screen.
Both my 15" MacBook Pro (i5) and my mum's last year 15" C2D ones have what seems to be an inaccurate balance with the internal speakers. The right hand speakers appear to be stronger.
Anyone else noticed this? It's not the end of the world, as the balance can be changed, but you'd think at 50% left 50% right that the volume would be the same per speaker...
My macbook has had this problem for a while but I have lived with it so far, but now it is really annoying me. Images and video are displayed very darkly, often loosing a lot of detail and maing the image un-seeable. I have tried fiddling with the gamma settings and all other settings that I can find on the control pannel, but so far I have had no luck.
Just as an example, this is a frame from some video I shot: click for pic
On any other monitor, the bulb appears bright and white and the ball bearing is visible. On my monitor the bulb is very dark, most of the fragments are invisible and the ball bearing is just a small crescent of light.
Anyone else noticed that file size calculation in Lion is inaccurate? I noticed when trying to burn cds or dvds with Toast, Toast would calculate the exact size, but Lion would give different results, either larger or smaller, but never accurate.I know for a fact Toast is right and Lion is wrong because I tested the same files in PCs, and in Leopard, and Lion's results are off the mark.Incidentally, I've been using Lion for a month now, and I have to say that in my 18 years as a Mac user I had never encountered so many annoying bugs when switching to a new OS. And don't get me started on the no-color sidebar!
I am using a Mac Book Pro with boot camp. When using windows there is no laggy feeling. This is not a skipping movement just a slight lag that makes it barely noticable but inaccurate, very annoying. I have tried many many mice and different softwares but that FLOATING feeling is always there on the Mac side but not the Windows 7. I have been an avid fan of Mac since way back. Classic never did this. I do not remember early versions of OSX doing it but I may not been aware of it.
Info: MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2011), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
I have an external hard disk. Trying to copy a large file to the disk, the system retuned a message telling that I was missing space. To me, that was impossible.Â
The hard disk folders added to 371GB of data but the info displayed that I was using 445GB. I emptied the trash, but that didn't do any difference. After trying to understand, I was left with the idea that there may be invisible files using that space. Â
With the Onyx utility, I discovered that the «.Trashes» folder was hidding ±75GB of data. At first I didn't see it, because the «.Trashes» folder gave me only a write permission (???). Changing this permission, I then discovered that it was holding the missing 75GB. Because I now have the read permission, I can see the content ... but can I deleted them ? Can I delete hidden files in the «.Trashes» folder ?Â
I've spilled a tiny amount of water on my trackpad (drops of sweat from a glass, so not much at all) and now the trackpad isn't working. The cursor is delayed and inaccurate and reminds me of windshield wipers on a dry windshield in that it bounces across the screen. Also, the menu of a right click keeps popping up but I haven't right clicked. Is there any way that I can dry under the trackpad? Can I take the trackpad off? I have a 13" unibody. I did fold paper towels in half and stuck them in the cracks between the trackpad and the wrist rest and that did get some water up, but there is either still water under there or permanent damage. I'm not very tech-savy, so I'd rather not take the whole thing apart on my own, but it is work issued and I'd have to take it to them before I can take it to an Apple store.
I have a 1TB external LaCie hard drive. Presently, it is loaded with about 300GBs of space so I should have around 650GBs left. However, it is only showing about 240GBs left. I think the problem is that I used to use this hard drive for Time Machine backups, I deleted them via the recycle bin. I checked the recycle bin, nothing there. I verified the disk, everything ok, I repaired it as well. I even erased the empty space.
In photos, the vivid colors are great, but when reading text, surfing, googleing etc.. the super 'vivid' blues (which actually look purpleish to my eye) are just too much. Color calibration doesnt seem to be able to do much with this, and I think alot has to do with the drivers. Anyone else annoyed by this? More importantly, anyone annoyed to the point of fixing the problem? Maybee using new drivers, or some good settings you can pass along?
Tried searching for this but unfortunately could not find anything. How do I get rid of this purple shaded area of my disk and restore my disk to full size? It's supposed to be 320 GBs. I attempted to delete a Bootcamp partition but it didn't seem to delete correctly. I understand that I will not have 320 GBs free, but shouldn't I have more than 297 GBs on a brand new UMBP?
I upgraded to snow leopard this weekend, and my desktop machine Mac Pro started showing everthing on screen with a little purple tint. The menu at the top for example, used to be blue on white background and black text. Now it's purple and white background. It's less noticeable in other areas, but I can see it. Anyone else?
I'm playing around with the charts in Pages (which are freaking awesome, btw). But I can't figure out how to get a pie chart without the colour purple in it--see some screenshots below. In the first screenshot you'll see the legend under the chart, with untitled purple and blue markers. If I try to delete these markers (see second image), then all the markers will shift, so that the first two are always purple and blue ! Is there a way to get rid of purple and blue altogether? Or just not show the untitled markers? Or does everyone actually like purple? I think it's a pretty horrid colour for a chart.
Has anyone noticed on their new MBP that blue links change to purple when scrolling down a webpage with links? I'm able to reproduce this every time with the Google Search Results pages. My screen is model 9C9E from manufactur 610.
Just installed 10.6, and noticed all the menus and windows highlights are in purple, can anyone tell me why purple?! its ok but is there a way to change color?
I just exchanged my 9CC2 Macbook Pro (it was having problems with the HD/etc.) with a 9C9E display. I hear this display has problems with color, particularly blue - but I can't seem to see any. All of the links I look at that should be blue are a beautiful shade of blue, and nothing seems purple. The whites are white, blacks are black. No streaking on the side of the screen. My MB was manufactured earlier this month (week 36). Perhaps these issues were resolved? Anyone have a problem with the 9C9Es with recently purchased Macbooks?
I came home and found an eMac on my back porch, came from my moms friend apparently. so i plugged it in and turned it on and i was playing on it for a while but safari would just repeatedly crash after loading the home page, so i restarted it and it seemed to fix the problem, me and my friend then took the casing off and replaced the cd drive because it was jammed. it started up just fine after that but after the next restart the screen seemed to be "shaking". it was jumping left to right. so i powered it off and started it up again. this time it did the same thing but it was more vigorous and the screen was flashing from normal to a dark purple tint. then it went really dark purple, the screen shut off, then the whole computer shut itself off. now only after leaving it unplugged for at least 30 seconds the first or second push of the power button will "twitch" the fan and the CRT sounds like its trying to come on, but i only get the CRT sound and the fan maybe doing at most a quarter turn before it stops. the only changes made was a new cd drive and a second RAM card. i tried it by pulling out the added ram card and still nothing. then tried with the cd drive IDE cable removed and still nothing.
So I have this collection of pixels near the bottom of my screen but they're only visible over a dark grey area, like when you're in the login screen (I have an early 2013 MBPr 15 btw)Â
It's probably a problem with the screen itself and not the GPU (or maybe the connection between them?) since if I take a screenshot it's not visible and I've connected it to an external monitor and it doesn't have it.Â
I took a picture of said problem [URL] .....
I've had this for a few weeks now and I've tried those youtube videos (I just to have some image retention after leaving something to run for a long time) which have decreased the amount of pixels. They all dissapeared for a few hours and now they're back.
