Some time ago I customized the image that appears during boot-up when the system asks you for the user and password prior to logging in. I can't remember how I did it, though, and now I want to change that picture, and can't figure out how.

View 2 Replies View RelatedEver since I got my macbook, I've been trying to get everything in sync between it and my imac using mobile me. I had a lot of trouble with saved passwords and other things not syncing so I deleted both keychains and started over fresh. Now everytime I log on to either my imac or mac book I'mn asked for a password to access my keychain.
How can I disable this? Have a made a mistake somewhere in all this configuring? I've never really messed with keychain so I really didn't know what I was doing.
I share my computer with my wife. When I login in I am asked for a password. How do I remove this feature.

Need to remove a firmware password on a G5 2.7 Powermac bought on ebay.Have removed half of the ram and tried to reset pram no help. Removed battery, no help.Former owner forgot password, never logged out.

I turned the computer off to see if it would go away since it was just at the top of the screen but when i turned it back on it was still there.
I have managed to scrounge a 2nd generation emac from college that has a faulty screen, the screen is totally unusable. i have seen the mod explaining how to remove the crt and put an lcd screen in there but to be honest i cant be botherd. all i want to do is run a standard lcd monitor externally from the mini dvi port (aquired cable from college also ) just wonderd if there was a way of disabling/ switching it off to save on power.
Also what version os would you reccomend running on this emac?
I have a Mac Mini (previous model to the aluminium one) and I have just got a Kanex MDP to HDMI adapter. I plugs into the MDP and USB and it take A/V.However there are no setting that allow me to fit the whole picture perfectly on the screen.
With my old HDMI adapter I used the 1280x720 setting, however no such thing exists now.How can I get round this?
How does one take a screen picture. I have an ibook G4, but I assume one presses the same keys in a Mac Book, (or MBP), in order to get the screen picture.
View 2 Replies View Relatedas an extension to my question regarding RAM utilization, I've decided to upgrade my RAM. I went through the process of removing the underside of my MBP. After taking the screws out and mentally marking which slot they came out of (some are of different size), I pulled the lid up at the black trim area (the "neck" of the display mount) as this was the easiest way to get a non-damaging grip on the metal underside -- read: I avoided using a screw driver on the lid. As I started to lift, I was surprised at the amount of force I needed to use in order to remove the lid; something near the center of the cover was still holding the lid to the underside of the body. In fact, the amount of force I needed to use made me pause to question if I missed an important step other than simply removing the screws. I decided to "go for it" and applied more pressure while pulling the lid up and away from the body and heard a "pop" noise.

I have a Macbook Air and the new 13" macbook pro. I see that the Macbook Air is much brighter than the 13" macbook pro (under the same ambient lighting, both set to maximum brightness). I was told the reason for this difference is because of the lack of the glass layer on the Air. Is that really true ? If so, can you please let me know if I'd be able to get the same brightness I get on the Air on the Pro also by just removing the glass layer on my 13" macbook pro. TechRestore offers such a service for $134, which is simply a subset of their service for matte replacement (I don't want the matte replacement as I like the glossy screen). But since such a service would void my warranty and return policy, I want to be really sure before getting it done with them. I'd greatly appreciate any inputs/advice.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Mac Mini and all technical help is closed right now. I am very frustrated as the one I bought yesterday had no display output. The system starts and gets to a screen that has what looks to be a switch that needs to be changed. I have looked at the entire box and can not see a switch that needs to be changed. I have taken a picture and have put it on here. I have googled it and can not find anything. My mouse and keyboard are both new wireless so I have nothing I can even use there. I am enclosing a picture of the screen. I also only have power and monitor plugged in.

I've never noticed this problem until today: the lines and contour of the cruise ship are imprinted on my screen. When I change my desktop picture to a solid color, I still see the lines and contour of the cruise ship! Is there a way to fix this or is my monitor pretty much garbage. As a graphic designer, these lines are very distracting and I can't work like that...

I recently installed a new internal hard drive on my mac which meant copying all my music back into iTunes. This has left me with a bit of work to organise all my music again, particularly those songs that I purchased through the iTunes store. The long and the short of it is that it's asking my to authorise the purchased tracks using the account that I used to buy them. This wouldn't be a problem except that I cant work out which password it is that I use on that account. The problem is every time I click the "forgot password?" button to reset it all I get is webpage with an error message (see attached picture).

Everything was working wonderfully until today when I had to power my MBP off due to a program lockup. Now the picture on the MPB that used to fill the Samsung screen no longer does. It leaves about 1 1/2 inches of black on either side of the Samsung that is just dead space. Some of my programs now hang over into those areas and you cannot see them fully.Why would it have changed like this just due to a power off and how do I get it back to displaying the full screen on the Samsung? I have toyed with this for over an hour now and am getting nowhere.

I have recently upgraded to Lion and iCloud. There are two very annoying quirks that i don't know how to fix: 1-When working with word, documents or emails in the middle of a sequence the picture or window suddenly is yanked off the screen to the right. More often than not it can't be retrieved. This happens often 2-In the same mode as in #1 above the print size will suddenly increase maybe by a factor of 3x or 4x. it happens spontaneously. 3-There are many other problems with the upgrade: -With sequence emails the secondary emails are not printed. When one tries to open those emails it often fails.-The new address book format is crap. it is very difficult to go from single listings to group listings and back.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs stated in title, the desktop picture will randomly revert to a picture I had up there months ago, usually when I run the battery all the way down on my unibody MB, but also when I change display settings when i plug into an external monitor.
Do I just need just reset the PRAM or is there something else I'm missing.

I've been using my macbook for a few months right now, and primarily use it for recording me and my band-mates on Logic express, but now, I've not been able to use my iSight on my mac. I don't know what's wrong with it, because I've always been able to take photos with friends in Photo Booth and take movies with it as well. Up till now that is. A few days ago I tried to open up Photo Booth and snap a picture, but all I got was a blank screen. The program would count down, but the screen would just be white instead of showing what it would take. The little green light next to it would go on as well, but it wouldn't take a picture, and nothing is blocking the screen either.
