Oct 16, 2010How does one take a screen picture. I have an ibook G4, but I assume one presses the same keys in a Mac Book, (or MBP), in order to get the screen picture.

Apr 25, 2009here's a pic of my screen after a weird rainbow like freeze. After it does this, I can't do anything, and have to restart the computer. This has now happened 4-5 times over the past 2 weeks. Do you think it's a bad video card, bad memory, or what? I can't figure it out.

Nov 12, 2009I got a 3 year old white macbook. I was surfing the net when suddenly it turned off. On restart, I got the grey screen for a while, the a picture of a file with a question mark in it, waited for ten minutes, still the file. I have done the following:
1.- Reset the PRAM: I use the combination of keys, and it reboots, but on rebboting it goes back to the picture of the file.
2.- Use the option key on startup: I get a grey screen with the curso on it, which I can move with my mouse, but no buttons to click or nothing.
3.- Use the X key: as if doing nothing
4.- Resseting the SMC: as if doing nothing
Mac Mini :: Picture Won't Fit On Screen?
Oct 1, 2010I have a Mac Mini (previous model to the aluminium one) and I have just got a Kanex MDP to HDMI adapter. I plugs into the MDP and USB and it take A/V.However there are no setting that allow me to fit the whole picture perfectly on the screen.
With my old HDMI adapter I used the 1280x720 setting, however no such thing exists now.How can I get round this?

Mac Mini :: Won't Boot And Has Picture Of Switch On Screen
Sep 8, 2010I just bought a Mac Mini and all technical help is closed right now. I am very frustrated as the one I bought yesterday had no display output. The system starts and gets to a screen that has what looks to be a switch that needs to be changed. I have looked at the entire box and can not see a switch that needs to be changed. I have taken a picture and have put it on here. I have googled it and can not find anything. My mouse and keyboard are both new wireless so I have nothing I can even use there. I am enclosing a picture of the screen. I also only have power and monitor plugged in.

I've never noticed this problem until today: the lines and contour of the cruise ship are imprinted on my screen. When I change my desktop picture to a solid color, I still see the lines and contour of the cruise ship! Is there a way to fix this or is my monitor pretty much garbage. As a graphic designer, these lines are very distracting and I can't work like that...

Oct 18, 2010I have a 23 inch Samsung LED that I am using with a new 15 inch i7 MBP. Everything was working wonderfully until today when I had to power my MBP off due to a program lockup. Now the picture on the MPB that used to fill the Samsung screen no longer does. It leaves about 1 1/2 inches of black on either side of the Samsung that is just dead space. Some of my programs now hang over into those areas and you cannot see them fully.Why would it have changed like this just due to a power off and how do I get it back to displaying the full screen on the Samsung? I have toyed with this for over an hour now and am getting nowhere.

There are two very annoying quirks that i don't know how to fix: 1-When working with word, documents or emails in the middle of a sequence the picture or window suddenly is yanked off the screen to the right. More often than not it can't be retrieved. This happens often 2-In the same mode as in #1 above the print size will suddenly increase maybe by a factor of 3x or 4x. it happens spontaneously. 3-There are many other problems with the upgrade: -With sequence emails the secondary emails are not printed. When one tries to open those emails it often fails.-The new address book format is crap. it is very difficult to go from single listings to group listings and back.

Feb 22, 2009As stated in title, the desktop picture will randomly revert to a picture I had up there months ago, usually when I run the battery all the way down on my unibody MB, but also when I change display settings when i plug into an external monitor.
Do I just need just reset the PRAM or is there something else I'm missing.

Apr 11, 2009I've been using my macbook for a few months right now, and primarily use it for recording me and my band-mates on Logic express, but now, I've not been able to use my iSight on my mac. I don't know what's wrong with it, because I've always been able to take photos with friends in Photo Booth and take movies with it as well. Up till now that is. A few days ago I tried to open up Photo Booth and snap a picture, but all I got was a blank screen. The program would count down, but the screen would just be white instead of showing what it would take. The little green light next to it would go on as well, but it wouldn't take a picture, and nothing is blocking the screen either.

May 19, 2009On Sunday I popped a DVD into my 1.5 12" Powerbook (756 ram, 100gb hd) and then picture got incredibly screwed up. I guess the best way to describe it is there were a mess of colors and lines everywhere. Trying to move windows around left a window trail on the screen.
First thing after this happened was that I got all the data off, then I popped in the original Panther disc and wanted to do a fresh install, it installed alright from the disc (albeit with issues on the screen), but when it started again, there was a blue screen while the music was playing (the music that comes on when you first get your mac).
Anyone have any suggestions on what to do? From some forum searching it seems to be a video card issue. I'm hoping to salvage it some how, but if not, it'll probably sell as parts. It's been so good for four years now, I was surprised it conked out so suddenly.
Software :: Unable To Edit Movie Files In Imovie / Frozen Screen With Picture But Could Hear Sound
Jan 21, 2009have been making movies with imovie for the past few years. Today I imported from my camera, could see the clips moving in imovie when being transported, but when I tried to edit the clips, all I could get was a screen frozen with a picture, no movement, but could hear the sound. Then when I tried to open an already saved imovie (that had already been burned to iDVD successfully), the same thing happened.

May 8, 2012When I go to "desktop & screen saver" in System Prefs, I have a mystery picture I cannot get rid of and it has been passed from Mac to Mac, OS to OS. It says it's on my desktop with the other pics that I see on my desktop that are actually there. I click on the picture to get its name or location and I get this ".UserImagesWelcomeSecondaryIm". So I try to find this location...nothing. I try to spotlight this exact phrase, NOTHING. This picture has gotten unbelievably annoying because I can't locate the physical file to delete it. I believe it may have been an image that was dragged off a browser onto the desktop.

Mac Pro :: Front Row Screen Is Just White / Video Picture Is Pure White
Jun 12, 2010When I go to front row, all my video content plays sound, but the picture is just a pure white screen (shows the slider to move chapters, etc., but the screen is just white).
Any ideas for solutions? I did google searches, etc., to no avail. I have a MP (not early 08), which I upgraded the graphics card to a 2600XT, and it's running Leopard.
MacBook Pro :: LED Backlight On But No Picture?
Jan 22, 2009I have a 2.2 Santa Rosa 15" MBP, and an odd thing happened last night. I wasn't running any unusual applications, and had a few things open and was browsing in Firefox. All of a sudden my screen went black, and wouldn't come back up.
The computer is still running just fine, and it didn't go to sleep. The LED backlight is fine, as the Apple logo is lit up and if I change the brightness I can see the backlight changing (the "black" screen gets less "black", if that makes sense), however the actual display panel isn't projecting any picture at all.
I've restarted a dozen times, reset PRAM, and did the unplug battery and hold power button trick, all to no avail. There's no flicker of a picture or anything... it's as if the monitor is completely dead (aside from the backlight being fine).
If I plug in an external monitor, I can use the computer just fine. So it's not like the video card is dead all the way.
