Software :: New Samsung SCX 4600 Printer Not Working?
Jul 27, 2010
I'm running OSX 10.4.11 on both a MacBook Intel duo and on a PowerMac G4. I bought a Samsung SCX4600 which has just been replaced by Samsung.
The first would print ok for single copies but was pitifully slow when asked for several copies even though it claims 20ppm and mac compatable. The replacement wont print at all, giving the message that "the printer is not responding". In both cases the scanner and photocopy functions work fine. I have loaded and reloaded the up to date driver and (following a resonse to an old similar query found on the [URL] support forum) run Printer Setup Repair 5.1.2 from MacFixit but with no benefit.
Before I spend another 30mins listening to musac while trying to get back to Samsung tec support, probably to try to get my money back:
1 Can I hope for a 3rd printer to be any better?
2 If not, any recommendations for an inexpensive b&w laser print/copy/scan machine which WILL work?
Hi, my brand new iMac 21.5" (just 2 weeks old) does not have the appropriate driver for my printer. My printer is a Samsung CLX-3160fn. The iMac has lots of other Samsung drivers, including one that's close (for the 3170 series), but the close one does not work.
Went online to search for driver but was not able to find one for Mac. Does this mean my printer is just not compatible with my iMac?
Where can I get the printer driver for the samsung ml-1710 printer?! It doesn't seem to be on the samsung page. Also... will it work on a new intel mac? If not, what are my options here?
Just one small hiccup with my lovely new machine - my samsung ML-1510 mono laser printer has no intel mac driver available and I can't print, i've searched all-over but to no avail.
When attempting to print from Acrobat on Mac OS 10.6 to a Samsung CLP 310, all lights and control panel are OK, then green light on printer flashes, then .... nothing happens. Updated printer driver without result. Printer dialog box shows partial print, so seems to have stalled, but usually that's all that happens.
I just got this laser printer, and in the specifications says that it can print on Both Sides manually. How can i use this feature where it prints every other page first? In the printing options i see "Two Sided Printing" but I can't click on this feature.
My Samsung ML-2510 stopped working when I installed snow leopard. I've tried the following, after finding others with similar problems (before snow leopard).
1. re-installing the driver from the Samsung website.
2. deleting the printer from the "printer & fax" pref, then adding it again, selecting "print using..." the new driver from the drop down menu.
3. downloading the Samsung Drivers from the apple website
So i just bought the Samsung ML-1640 Laserjet printer, i just printed a 100 page document to test it out, function is fine but the first page it printed was the last page which would be fine except the pages fall out text down, so when i pickup the completed wad of pages i flick through:
last page - penultimate page -........-first page
how do i reverse the order of printing so that it prints the first page first
I have installed the generic PCL Laser Printer driver in order to use my Samsung ML-6060 printer, because Samsung no longer supports this printer for macs.
For several weeks the generic driver worked beautifully. Now I'm having a problem. When I print a document the printer puts out a blank page other than the letters OE in the upper left corner. The next page is the document itself. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the driver with no success.
P.S. I need to correct my computer description. I have returned to System 10.8.5 on my Mac Pro (early 2008) desktop.
Info: PowerMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9), 2 x 2.8 Ghz Quad-Core Intell Xeon
I have an iMac 27" (intel 3.4 GHz, Intel core i7, and 16 GB memroy) purchased a few months ago. It is running the latest version of Lion 10.7.4 I run this computer on our network along with a iMac 24" 3.5years old and a Macbook Pro 2.5year old.
This computer seems to have a beef with the Hewlett-Packard printer (HP colour laser jet CM1312nfi MFP) which I have had for about 3 years. I can not get the new computer to work with the printer properly. It allows printing but it pauses all the time when you resume the print it starts printing from the begining of the document againIt will pause any prints sent to it across the network after the first 1 or 2 pages are printedIt won't allow scanning at allWhen you launch the scanner it takes forever to connect (3 - 4 mins)If you try to scan using any of the scan options (if it loads the devise) it then states it can not connect to the device, or all the scan buttons apear but greyed out. This is odd as it will still allow printing??
Also, all the other PC's have the same version of Lion 10.7.4 and have the latest HP Driver installed (these were released on the 14 Dec 2011). Other useful infoThe scanner is hard wired to the 27" machineYou can only use the printer if one scanner is hard wired as it does not have wirless capacity.I have uninstalled and installed the software more times than i can count trying all different trouble shooting etcI can only conclued that there is somthing the 27" machine is doing to prevent the scnanner registering properlyNone of the other computers can use the scanner correctly either. As you can only scan a page at a time using the "Scan" button. If I wish to scan multiple pages on with either of the other computers I need to use the "scan to folder" button.
my daughter get her Samsung multifunction connected to her iMac.

She does have Photoshop installed but when I go to Import > Samsung Series 4200 > I get the Warning message that no Scanner is connected. But looking on the System Profiler, it does recognize that the Samsung Printer is connected via USB.
I have 3 Macs (iMac 24", iMac 27" and MacBook Pro 15") each are connected to their own USB Samsung printer (ML-2510 and ML 2010). Since the OSX 10.7.3 upgrade from February 3rd 2012, they all have the same problem. The printer is responding, when we send something to print, the printer starts running and then stops before printing anything. The strange thing is that the next time I try to print, it can be OK. I am able to print sometime but not always. This problem is the same on all 3 computers. I have tryed to reinstall the driver from the Samsung web site and it did not resolved the problems.
I have been using a Samsung ML-1630 printer for awhile, love it, etc. etc. Anyway, it ran out of ink a month or so ago, and I finally got around to buying a new cartridge.
I installed the cartridge fine, and the printer itself printed a test page just fine. The problem is anything I try and print gives me this: "error: couldn't create gray colorspace."
No matter what I try and print - word docs, emails, etc. etc. I can't figure out what it might be. Googling that error message came up with nothing.
I recently purchased and Mini-Display to HDMI converter, which connects to an HDMI to HDMI cable which connects to my television. The video is working fine, but for some reason audio isn't working at all.
My situation: a small network through ethernet with three macs and one printer HP laserjet5000N. On my new imac (OS 10.6.4) I want to add the printer, but when this window opens, i am not getting any options (standard, IP, etc.) so i cannot choose anything.
It works fine on the G5 and the G4 (OS 10.5) which are also in the network.
Not sure what to do. Any suggestions would be welcomed.
My HP A-I-O printer is not working under SL. Tried deleting the printer in Prefs. and reinstalling the drivers a bazillion times. I even went out and bought a *new* HP printer and I'm experiencing the same problems.
I downloaded 10.7.4 tonight and now my HP Inkjet printter/scanner no longer works. I am directed to download the new driver from Apple Software Update but that driver only has a printer driver--nothing for the scanner!
Info: Mac OS X (10.7.4), HP Officejet 6300 All-In-One
I have a Canon LBP6000 laser printer. I downloaded the Yosemite driver from Canon after updating to Yosemite, and the printer worked up until a few days ago. Now, I can't print. The printer status monitor says "printing" with a status bar, but nothing happens.
I have tried remedies such as deleting all printer drivers, deleting the printer, resetting the printer system, restarting the computer, reinstalling the printer, resetting PRAM, updating to 10.10.1. Nothing has worked so far. It was working fine a few days ago!
I'm on a 2008 MacBook OS X 10.10.1.
Info: Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHZ, Mac OS X (10.6.2), 2 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD, Superdrive, GeForce 9400 256MB VRAM
I have set up the shared printer on my iMac in my room. I am trying to print from my husbands iMac in the living room. It is acting like it is going to print but when I try to print the printer queue comes up and it pauses the print job. When I select resume it says "Printing- 1.6.2 is ready to print." then it pauses again.
I tried setting the printer up multiple times from the living room and when I do it says the address is "valid and complete host name or address" then when I'm done and click "Add" it tells me "Unable to verify the printer on your network." "Unable to connect to 'Mycomputer-name-example.local’ due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?" cancel or continue.
Also I installed the printer software on both computers so that shouldn't be the issue.
Info: iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), canon MP490 series printer
I have my Canon iP4200 printer hooked up to my iMac and have been using it for years with out any problems until today. When i try to print something nothing happens. In the Printer queue application thing in the dock, it shows the document in queue and its status is "printing". On top of the window it shows this message: 'GenericClass: waiting for device' whatever that means i assume thats the issue but have no clue what it means. I have so many things to print for uni and need to get this working again, how do i get it back to working order again??
I have an ActionTec Router (56mbps USB) connected to my PC for my Internet connection. Then I use a Cat5 cable from the router to my Mac in another room. That gets me Internet and Network to the PC. I can't seem to get the printer in the other room working from the Mac. I have a Dell PC(OS- XP)and Mac G5 (OSX 3.9)
I purchased an Epson CX8300 recently to work with my iMac and MacBook. It works fine with both via USB connection. However, when set to print wirelessly via an Airport Extreme Base Station, the print jobs don't ever appear in the print queues on either systems. I tried switching to the Gutenprint driver but this just spits out one blank page after another.
I was trying to print a paper off my macbook today, and for some reason it wouldn't print. I ran a utility scan that showed that the printer was hooked up and receiving and sending signals, but I keep getting an error message saying that the Printer is offline! This happened right after the OS X 10.5.5 update.
I have tried for hours trying to get my hp f380 working through time capsule wirelessly but can't get it to work. Read lots of info but it is still not working. It works when it is connected directly to my macbook pro but not when usb is put into time capsule. I tried setting it up through network settings, printer utility etc but to no prevail. The time capsule acts as a bridge and is connected through ethernet to another router. If I go to Print and Fax in Preferences under settings and I want to add the printer with bonjour all works but it does not display a driver for the particular printer I have, although countless others are listed.
I have an iMac G5 (Power PC) with OS X version 10.4.11. I also have an Epson Stylus Color 1160 printer and an Epson Stylus Pro 3800 printer. Last August I lost access to the Utilities in my 1160 driver meaning that I could not make nozzle checks or cleans. I was emailed a lengthy procedure from Epson that would overcome the problem. Expecting this to take some time, I delayed following the advice until yesterday. Apart from the inaccessible Utilities for the 1160, both drivers were working OK. As instructed by Epson, I removed both printer drivers and first reinstalled the 1160 driver but my Printer Setup Utility could not find it. After several fruitless e-Talk sessions with Epson I contacted Apple. They told me that I had been doing everything correctly but they discovered (through Google) that the driver for the 1160 does not work with OS 10.4.11. Knowing that I had been able to use an Epson driver before I discovered through Google that a later version was available on the American Epson site. I downloaded this and the 1160 worked fine with access to the Utilities as I needed. I then reinstalled the 3800 driver but when I attempted to use it from Photoshop it did not give me the Print Settings and Color Management options that I need. I still have these options with the 1160. I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this problem and now I have even lost the access to the 1160 Utilities again. I have run the Disk Utility First Aid many times. It shows an ever-increasing list of Permissions (all problems related to Epson) but although it 'repairs' them when I verify again they are still there. I seem to be creating more problems rather than solving them.
I have a MacBook now running Leopard 10.5.5 and an Epson Stylus DX4400 printer. Since I installed Leopard I cannot print via the USB connection from my Airport Extreme. I can print only if the printer is connected directly to my MacBook. This used to work fine when my computer had Tiger. I have spent hours trying to fix this with a 2nd tier tech guy at Applecare, but without success. Epson refuse to help on the grounds that routers aren't supported, or something. The printer appears to be recognised by the Extreme but when I print, the job does not appear in the print box which just says "printer ready" .
I have had to previously UNINSTALL the latest firmware version for the Airport Extreme (7.3.2) because this firmware seemed to be causing previous problems - namely my MacBook not working with Airport at all, or at least only intermittently. Leopard was installed in attempt to solve this first problem - it didn't at first, but seems to be OK now. The printer issue arose only after Leopard was installed. When I add the printer when located at Airport Extreme via System Prefs Print and Fax, it appears to find and add it OK, and indeed the printer is there with 'Airport Extreme' as the location.
I would be so grateful for any suggestions. Both Applecare and Epson have run out of ideas.
Need help to getting my HP printer(309c a series working with Lion 10.7.3 any advice??? Help please. I been all over HP and Image Capture not working or see it.
